DVD REVIEW: NWA FIESTA LUCHA

By Alan Wojick on 3/19/2008 11:07 AM
Early last year the National Wrestling Alliance took its World Heavyweight and World Tag Team championship away from TNA Wrestling ending a five year partnership, which didn’t really see the NWA have a say in who wore its titles. With a national DVD distribution deal with Big Vision Entertainment and a TV show on Dish Network they are reaching a world wide audience. One of their DVD’s has been recently released, entitled Fiesta Lucha! It was filmed February 25, 2007 in Las Vegas in front of a packed house at the Orleans Arena. Like many of the companies recent released the action is called by Kris Kloss and this time he has a new colleague, southern California manager and personality C. Edward Vander Pyle. They are joined by backstage interviewers David Marquez and Mark Thompson.

The following matches are on the DVD:
*25 Man King of the Summit Battle Royal
*El Hijo Del Santo & Billy Kidman vs. Super Parka & Nicho El Millionario
*Flag Match: Real American Heroes (Joey Ryan & Karl "Machine Gun" Anderson) vs. Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre)
*NWA Heritage champion "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce vs. "Canadian Bomber" Nelson Creed
*WSX Match: Human Tornado & Matt Classic vs. Los Pochos Guapos (Aaron Aguilera & Kaos)
* "Classic" Colt Cabana & "Sexy" Sonny Sampson vs. Ricky Reyes & Bobby Jo Marshall
*Peter Goodman vs. "the Brazilian Beast" Kafu
*Four Way Mayhem: Midnight Dynamite vs. TJ Perkins & JJ Perez vs. RGO vs. the Young Bucks

Some reviewers would break each match down for the readers. I am not going to bore you with that. Instead I am going to say having attended an NWA taping in Orlando last spring; this DVD captures the atmosphere perfectly. The fans are into the show from the opening match and the event has several wrestling styles on one DVD. From Lucha to strong to straight out grudge matches you will get all of them on this release. Kloss and Vander Pyle have great chemistry and are very entertaining and give you great background on many wrestlers the average fan probably has never seen in person. If you are looking to expand your DVD collection begin the NWA portion with this release. It is available in stores or by going to www.bvdvd.com
