NWA World Champ Blue Demon Jr.
Coming Sunday, February 14;
Plus, Shatter To Defend National Championship Against Pearce!
Hilton University Place hotel in Charlotte,
North Carolina
We're
extremely happy to announce that Mexican luchador Blue Demon Jr., the current
NWA World champion, has just signed on for the February 14 kickoff of
NWA: New Beginnings! in Charlotte.
The son of Blue Demon (an icon in Mexican wrestling and culture,) making his
first-ever appearance in North Carolina, will defend his championship belt
against a yet-to-be-named opponent.
Blue Demon, Jr. is the first Mexican and first masked luchador to hold the NWA
World championship.
We're also happy to announce the Valentine's Day challenger for Phil Shatter's
NWA National title belt.
"Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce, himself a former NWA World champion and current
booker for Ring of Honor, has signed on as challenger for Shatter's National
championship, but one has to wonder if his sights aren't still set on Blue
Demon, Jr. as well.
Pearce is still protesting his October 25, 2008 title loss in Mexico City,
when he passed out from Blue Demon Jr.'s Single-leg Boston crab. The video of
the match, which you can see in the right column below, clearly shows Pearce's
right arm was under the bottom rope, yet the referee's decision to stop the
match was allowed to stand.
NWA: New Beginnings! is happy to
add to the mix these two world-class athletes -- and two championship matches
-- to our huge lineup Sunday afternoon, February
14!

FOOTAGE of THE SHIEK
defeating EL GRAN APOLO for the NWA NORTH AMERICAN TITLE in FT PIERCE, FL
1-30-10
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaNvhFagV4w&feature=player_embedded
(Ft.
Pierce, Fl.) - The Sheik continued his quest for wrestling supremacy by
defeating El Gran Apollo for the NWA North American title this past Saturday
during a match hosted by NWA Pro Wrestling Fusion. With the NWA Florida
Heavyweight and NWA Midwest belts already in his possession, the addition of
the North American placed the Sheik into legendary status.
He is the
first man in the history of the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) to hold a
state, regional and continental title all at the same time making him the
first NWA TRIPLE CROWN winner!
Promoters
across the globe have taken notice of the Sheik, a man who will stop at
nothing to get what he wants; championship belts, especially ones containing
gold!
The reigning
NWA world heavyweight champion, Blue Demon, will now have to recognize the
Sheik as a top contender. Determined to build a legacy, the Sheik has his
sights set on destroying the Blue Demon and adding another belt to his
collection, the NWA world heavyweight championship belt!

Big assembly of
exceptional talent signed to NWA-SW Spectacular
A Texas-size card is just
weeks away now as National Wrestling Alliance - Southwest’ (NWA-SW) presents
its 12th Anniversary Show Spectacular in Robstown, Texas at the 3000-seat
Central Pavilion at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds on February
26, 2010. Bell-time 8 p.m.
This event involves two of
NWA’s top Superstars in World Heavyweight champion Blue Demon, Jr. of Mexico
City and 9-time Texas Heavyweight champion Kevin Northcutt, of New Orleans.
Joining these headliners will be NWA's MIni Division number one
contender Pierithito (CMLL) from Mexico City and luchador Eric Snake from
Monterrey, former WWE developmental and CMLL talent Sicodelico, Jr., South
Texas legend Ben "New Style" Galvan, exotic Ann Dromeda, Texas Junior champion
Rudy Russo, second generation Andy Dalton, high flyer ACH, luchador Amien
Rios, and many others.
The signing of Demon and
Northcutt means the Anniversary Show will have two of the top 10 ranked NWA
wrestlers according to Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) magazine’s latest
release of February 5, under the same roof. Both will be defending their
belts.
Blue Demon, Jr. needs no
introductions. He is the son of the legendary luchador in Mexico and has been
all over the globe. He won the NWA title on October 25, 2008 becoming the
first Mexican and first luchador to win the
NWA World Heavyweight Championship in its storied 62 years.
The 6-6, 255-pound Northcutt
is arguably “Mr. NWA." His resume includes being both a former TNA and
WCW star, 2-time NWA World Tag Team champion, 2-time National Champion, North
American Tag Team champion, and current 9-time Texas Heavyweight champion.
“We’re working hard to make
this Anniversary Show a big success,“ said Ken Taylor, NWA-SW owner. "This has
been our most promoted show ever and we're expecting a big turnout!"
Taylor said the celebration
will have live band music headed up by Latino recording artist Hilda Lamas and
a Color Guard for the playing of the National Anthem. “We’re making this
an exceptional entertainment experience from the time the fan walks through

NWA FORCE 1 Proudly
Presents...
"THIS CITY BURNS"
February 20, 2010
Hammonton, New Jersey
Rollway Skating Rink
131 South 2nd Street
7:30 PM Bell Time
All Seats only $10!!!
FORCE 1 is ready to set the city of Hammonton on fire with one night of heated
wrestling action including a HAIR v. MASK match to be contested under I QUIT
rules!!
The card is nearly finalized and we have 8 HUGE matches to deliver to the fans
of FORCE 1~!
---FORCE 1 CHAMPIONSHIP---
Champion SAMI CALLIHAN defends v. Challenger LINCE DORADO
January 29, 2010 was supposed to be the biggest and brightest night in Force 1
history. It was the relaunch of the promotion, it was the debut of many new
faces, it was the debut of a new direction, and the debut of a new
championship. It was also the night where Sami Callihan won the Force 1
Championship, turned on the fans, threw the belt in the trash, and formed The
New Regime! After 20 grueling minutes against Sabian, Ophidian, and Ryu Lee in
an elimination contest for the Force 1 Championship, Sami revealed his true
colors and decked Force 1 Commissioner Emil J. in the face with his newly won
championship belt! He then called out somebody from the locker room to take
the belt away from him and after a few seconds of waiting, the entire locker
room emptied out to send the The New Regime packing. Since the majority of the
Force 1 roster had already been signed to matches for "This City Burns", Emil
J. called a number of independant wrestling's finest
to challenge Sami Callihan and take the belt away from him. The man he found
for the job was the "Golden Lynx" Lince Dorado. On February 20, 2010, Force 1
sends Lince Dorado to battle and to bring the championship back where it
belongs!
---HAIR v. MASK, I QUIT RULES---
KEVIN CUNNINGHAM v. THE PHOENIX
The issue between Kevin Cunningham and The Phoenix has been brewing since last
summer when The Phoenix first appeared in Force 1, specifically targetting
Cunningham. "The Pompous Prep" Kevin Cunningham has been claiming that The
Phoenix is actually RV1 and has vowed to reveal to the world that he is right.
After months of podcasts, promos, accusations, matches, and even ripping the
mask off of Phoenix's face, the situation finally boiled over last month at
Spontaneous Sports! Kevin Cunningham cost The Phoenix his match with DJ Hyde,
and Kevin Cunningham was distracted by The Phoenix later on in the evening and
found himself pinned by RV1!!! Infuriated by this outcome, Cunningham made the
challenge to RV1 for an I QUIT match, and furthermore requested that if he
won, Cunningham would get to unmask The Phoenix to reveal RV1. Speaking on
behalf of The Phoenix, RV1 accepted and added his own twist to the contest: if
The Phoenix is victorious, Cunningham will
get his head shaved!!! Force 1 Commissioner Emil J. liked what he heard and
made the match official: Kevin Cunningham. The Phoenix. Hair versus Mask!!!
---FORCE 1 HERITAGE CHAMPIONSHIP---
Champion NICKY BENZ defends v. Challenger RYU LEE
At last month's RELAUNCH, Force 1 merged the Junior Heavyweight Championship
with the Iron League Championship to create the HERITAGE Championship. The
"Midnight Idol" Nicky Benz was successful in his match with "Hybrid" Josh
Adams to become the first ever Heritage Champion. He faces a big challenge in
his first defense as Force 1 has decided to name Ryu Lee the very first #1
Contender to the new championship based upon his showing in the 4 Way
Elimination match at RELAUNCH. A former Junior Heavyweight Champion himself,
Ryu Lee possesses the tools necessary to become champion and looks to make
Nicky Benz' reign a short one!
---TAG TEAM WARFARE---
JOE GACY & RYAN SLATER v. RV1 & RICH SWANN
Tag team competition is heating up in Force 1 as we are looking to put more
emphasis on the division. Both teams are looking to pick up an important win
in this match up to solidify their status in the division, but that's not the
only issue in this match! Joe Gacy and Ryan Slater represent the "THE NEW
REGIME" along with Sami Callihan and they are looking to take over Force 1
from the inside out. Standing in their way, however, are RV1, who has been
with Force 1 since the promotion began nearly 3 years ago, and Rich Swann, who
is a newcomer to the promotion and respects what Force 1 stands for. RV1 and
Rich Swann have promised to stop The New Regime before they become a dominant
force!
---SIX WAY SCRAMBLE---
SABIAN v. GREG EXCELLENT v. ADAM COLE v. TYLER VERITAS v. JOSH ADAMS v. ???
Along with all of the new additions to Force 1, comes the high-octane,
fast-paced SIX MAN SCRAMBLE match to determine a #1 Contender to the Force 1
Heritage Championship. Sabian is looking to get his hands on a championship as
he came within a second of winning the Force 1 Championship on multiple
occasions at last month's Relaunch event. "Hybrid" Josh Adams is also looking
to regain some Force 1 gold after losing to Nicky Benz, and subsequently his
Junior Heavyweight Championship. Greg Excellent, Adam Cole, and Tyler Veritas
are all looking to make their debuts in the biggest way possible in this
contest and shoot up the Force 1 rankings quickly. Details of this match are
still being finalized, as there is one remaining spot open in this match.
Force 1 management is scouring the area for the best possible talent to make
the perfect selection for the open spot.
---RETURN MATCH---
NILES YOUNG v. DIEGO DEMARCO
A rematch from The Relaunch event in January pits Niles Young against Diego
Demarco one more time, this time at Rollway Skating Rink in Hammonton, NJ.
Diego won the previous contest after rolling Niles up to escape a piledriver
in a back and forth, evenly contested affair. After the match concluded, Niles
Young respectfully asked to wrestle Diego one more time to prove to himself,
and the fans of Force 1 that he can beat one of Force 1's finest and most
celebrated wrestlers. Without hesitation, the match was put together and we
will see if Diego Demarco can once again put Niles Young away or if Niles
Young has what it takes to become victorious.
---HARD HITTING SHOWDOWN---
JOHNNY CALZONE v. DJ HYDE
In recent months, Johnny Calzone has become arguably the most popular wrestler
on the Force 1 roster. The charasmatic, jovial pizza boy has enjoyed the
adulation of the crowd as he has become one of the Force 1 favorites. However,
just as much as fans love Johnny Calzone, they seem to hate "The Lariat" DJ
Hyde after his debut last month at Relaunch. DJ was quick to get under the
skin of the Force 1 crowd as he was able to stifle the flame of the Phoenix
with Kevin Cunningham's help. After Cunningham seemingly turned his back on
Calzone after the Four Way Lucha Libre Tag Team Extravaganza, Calzone is
looking for a little retribution. Since "The Pompous Prep" has his hands full
with The Phoenix, Force 1 matchmakers decided to put Johnny Calzone in the
ring against the hard hitting DJ Hyde!! The two biggest men on the Force 1
roster collide in Hammonton on February 20th!!
---THE RAMPAGE CONTINUES---
MONSTER SQUAD v. LANCE-A-LOT
The team of Anthony Graves and Bear have been on an absolute rampage since
first teaming up in September. They have been mowing competition down left and
right and there's seemingly no end in sight. However, the team of "Time
Displaced Noble Knights" Lance Steel and Lance Steel are looking to put a stop
to the path of destruction created by the Monster Squad.

Marvez: Remembering Jack
Brisco
By ALEX MARVEZ, Scripps Howard News Service
Few pro wrestlers were as successful as Jack Brisco.
Even fewer have announced their retirement and actually followed through with
it.
Brisco -- the industry's top world champion of the 1970s -- died Monday from
complications following open-heart surgery. He was 68.
Although he left the business in 1984, Brisco remains such a revered figure
that he was honored with a posthumous graphic by World Wrestling Entertainment
on this week's "Monday Night Raw" telecast. He grappled worldwide as the
National Wrestling Alliance champion from July 1973 to December 1975. Brisco
was known for long matches that incorporated elements of his acclaimed
amateur-wrestling career.
Dory Funk Jr., who was considered Brisco's top opponent, offered praise on his
Web site (www.dory-funk.com).
"Jack brought credibility to professional wrestling," said Funk, who estimates
wrestling 200 NWA title matches against Brisco as both challenger and champion
during the 1970s. "I never had a match with Jack less than spectacular for the
fans. Jack was a great worker, an exceptional athlete and a beautiful person
to work with in the ring."
Brisco spent his final decade in wrestling working primarily in the
Southeastern U.S. He often teamed with younger brother -- and current WWE
talent scout -- Gerry before ending his career with a brief WWE run in 1984.
After years on the road, Brisco finally had enough. He abruptly quit WWE at
age 43 and didn't wrestle again.
"I was never tempted to come back," Brisco told me during a 2004 interview.
"People called for two years begging me to and offering me good money to do
so. I would refuse. I was happy. I was so physically and mentally exhausted
for six months after quitting that it took that long before I finally felt
like a human being again. I refused to go to an airport or out of town for two
years."
Brisco made a significant impact behind the scenes as well. In one of the
industry's most notable transactions, the Briscos quietly sold their stake in
Georgia Championship Wrestling to WWE owner Vince McMahon in 1984. The
transaction helped give McMahon a valued cable time slot on TBS as WWE
expanded nationally and drove smaller competitors out of business.
Brisco also is responsible for helping launch the career of Terry "Hulk Hogan"
Bollea in the late 1970s. Brisco spotted Bollea playing bass in a Tampa, Fla.,
rock band and asked if he wanted to become a wrestler. Hogan, who idolized
"Superstar" Billy Graham, agreed and began training under the late Hiro
Matsuda.
