Phill Shatter Interview Recap

By: Bob Colling from http://chroniclesoftna.bravejournal.com/

Jack E. Jones, OIB and Barbie Richards are joined by the NWA National Champion Phill Shatter this week. For full audio inteview please visit www.inyourheadonline.com

Jack asks Phill if he grew up with Matt Hardy and that group. Phill didn’t, but he was introduced by his former tag team partner Kimo and has been apart of the group since that time. Phill has a fun time whenever he hangs out with those guys.

Phill say that when he was younger he never knew about independent wrestling until he graduated from high school. Thus, he never watched OMEGA.

Jack asks how old Phill was when he decided to be a wrestler he says when he was four or five. Phill mentions that he was allowed to watch Hulk Hogan everyone else.

Phill believes that he gets along with Matt and all of those guys because of both their wrestling careers and their mutual hard work.

Jack brings up Phill’s match against his friend Kimo in a cage match in a loser leaves town match. Phill retained the National Championship and mentions that the crowd was very emotional. Phill says that the crowd stayed around for an extra fifteen minutes after the main event.

The debate about the cage matches between Jack and OIB is brought up. Phill is a big fan of the current cage format and mentions that those cages hurt a lot more. Phill agrees with Jack!

A caller named
Troy asks Phill what will NWA be in five years. Phill believes that NWA will be running territories once again. Phill hopes to see them try to get back to a worldwide level.

Jack plugs the Phill Shatter vs. Blue Demon vs. Adam Pearce for the NWA World Championship on March 14th Phill believes that he will win, obviously. Phill knows it will not be a easy fight.

Barbie asks Phill how it is to work with Adam Pearce. Phill says that he had wanted to work with him for quite sometime. Phill says that it means a lot to have a win over Adam Pearce.

Jack asks what has Tully Blanchard has been teaching him. Phill talks about being a fan of the 4 Horsemen and being a fan of Tully. Phill says that Blanchard style is more old school and is awesome experience to be around him. Phill mentions that he had a match NWA style recently for about twenty minutes and the fans loved it, so he thinks that style fits in today’s current wrestling taste.

Phill isn’t sure if Tully Blanchard is interested in getting in the wrestling business. Phill believes that Tully would be a great booker or agent for TNA or WWE. Phill mentions that Tully is a minister and goes to prisons to do his work.

Phill watches a lot of Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart matches. He recently has been watching old school NWA wrestlers like Arn Anderson, Steve Williams and Kerry Von Erich.

Jack talks about seeing Phill Shatter on TNA this past Monday as security. Phill says that Bill Behrens has greatly helped him out. Phill says that being a security guy is a step in the door as a lot of guys started off as a security man.

Phill thought that Impact this Monday was “really, really good”. Phill believes that TNA has been getting better recently. Phill believes that TNA could really be big. Phil doesn’t believe you can beat the WWE over night, but instead it will be a long process.

Jack asks Phill to sell the Hardy Show to someone that has never watched it before. Phill says that it is a entertaining show and that the skits are wonderful. Phill mentions that they have a you tube channel.

Phill talks about his skit where they had to drink a lot of random stuff. Phill mentions that someone got branded on the show before. Phill does not recommend eating dog treats. Phill has never been opposed to anything they have shown.

www.matthardy.com  are where the shows are located.

A caller named Joel asks Phill if the US Marines helped Phill get in shape. Phill says that it helped him get discipline as he knew it wouldn’t take over night to get in the shape he needed. The same caller asks Phill if he has a goal in wrestling. Phill’s goal is to be a WWE Hall of Famer which he realizes is a major goal. Phill would love to wrestle HHH and/or Shawn Michaels and headline Wrestle Mania. Phill says he will not quit until he does become a Hall of Famer.

A question from the board asks if Phill will be signing with TNA. Phill really hopes that he can sign with TNA. Phill says that Jarrett and Terry Taylor have really been pushing for him. Phill would like to get his name out there in TNA.

Jack mentions that Brad Anderson put Phill Shatter over as a great guy. Phill puts Brad over as super cool guy and a old school worker. Shatter asks people what he needs to improve on after his matches and not what he did well.

Phill says that Tully’s advice is that it his opinion and that Shatter should learn every style of wrestling.

Barbie asks Phill for a tip to the young guys getting into the business. Shatter believes the fans need to watch their backs and learn everything they can. Shatter quotes Flair as saying “if you ever stop learning something, you need to quit”.

Barbie asks Phill if he has any good wrestlers that think they are in the business, but they aren’t. Phill doesn’t name any names but mentions a promotion he worked for when he was in the military where they were buying their gear at Wal Mart! Shatter mentions that he got mad when someone said that they only wrestled as a hobby.

Jack asks if Phill has ever had any serious injuries. Phill says that he pinched a disc in his back and almost shattered his ankle. Shatter says that he hasn’t had any bad injuries.

Jack brings up the III Faction in NWA Charlotte. Shatter talks about how they were suppose to be heels, but it back fired as the fans loved seeing them dominate. Shatter doesn’t believe there is a way to bring back that faction. No one really wants to bring that faction back together.

Phill has worked with Jim Cornette and puts him over as being really smart. Phill would like to work for Ring of Honor. Shatter mentions that he is scheduled to be on the April 3rd show in
Charlotte. He is looking forward to the show that will be shown on the internet.

OIB asks Phill if he has had any interactions with Chris Hammrick. Shatter likes Hammrick and talks to him on a regular basis. Shatter mentions that he recently cussed him out for missing his daughters birthday.

Jack asks Phill about ribs that haven’t been shown on the Hardy Show. Phill hasn’t done really anything but says that everyone picks on Kimo, a lot.

Jack mentions George South and Phill says that he hasn’t really met George, though he has met him two or three times.

Phill travels really with only Kimo a lot on the road since Shannon Moore and Jeff Hardy are in TNA. Phill says that the Hardy Show has really helped out his internet fan base. Shatter is on Myspace, Twitter and Facebook.

Phill believes that WWE still caters to the adult fan base because of some of the angles they have been doing with Randy Orton and DX. Phill believes that Vince McMahon goes through some stages in his booking tastes.

Jack asks of Phill has turned down any gimmick ideas. Phill wants to continue with the Universal Solider gimmick. Phill believes people want to see something similar to reality based and not something far fetched. Phill has been wanting to add things to his outfit as the Universal Solider.

Phill would like to work with Jeff Hardy and Triple H the most. Shatter’s all time favorite is Bret Hart but he is “pretty much retired so that would be hard to do”. Shatter wouldn’t mind facing John Cena or Ted DiBiase in the battle of the Marines.

Phill thanks the fans for coming out to the shows. A great interview with a great overall guy.

Jack thanks Phill for coming onto the show. www.nwalegends.com  for more information on Shatter’s upcoming matches including March 14th vs Adam Pearce and Blue Demon for the NWA title. Also go to www.matthardy.com  for the Hardy Show!

March 6 NWA Main Event TV Review by Larry Goodman

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Show opened with NWA Mid-America Television Champion Matt Boyce telling the viewers not to touch that dial.

Ace Rockwell called out NWA Tennessee Junior Champion Mike Posey. He got Chrisjen Hayme instead. Hayme slapped Rockwell. Rockwell fired back and tossed Hayme out of the ring.

Opening montage…

”Mouth of the North” Aaron Camaro and Andrew Becker on commentary.

Ring announcer Scott Hensley said ref Jamie Ferrari had called for the match to take place right now!

(1) Ace Rockwell defeated Chrisjen Hayme in 8:15. Rockwell was giving Hayme a royal ass kicking. They cut to the finish of Posey vs. Rockwell from last week - Hayme cut off interference by Chad Hyatt only to blast Rockwell with a chairshot and cost him the match. Hayme took over and managed to block most of Rockwell’s signature moves. Hayme went for the 450 splash. No water in the pool and Rockwell pinned him with an Oklahoma Roll. Good action match. Crowd was really into Rockwell.

A short bumper aired featuring Corey Hollis. It was not good.

(2) Chad Hyatt won a MegaRumble to earn an automatic shot at the title of his choosing. Shane Smalls and Ninja Ryu started. Smalls was working hard and fast and sorta sloppy. He kept trying to eliminate Ryu. Bad Boy Dixon was next. Camaro made like it was a huge surprise. Smalls hit a gutbuster on Dixon, and Ryu climbed on top for a preposterous standing moonsault. The only thing that made contact was his chin. Back from commercial break, Chad Hyatt was entering with Matt Fortune, Brian Rivers and Chazz already added to the mix. Terry Teague was next and went right at Hyatt. The monster Se7en made Razor victim number one. Hyatt pulled the ropes down to eliminate Teague. Se7en got rid of the jibronis. Hyatt took a powder and fell into a fan’s lap. The fan shoved him off and Hyatt went into the post. Funny stuff. Smalls and Ryu worked double teams on the big man, before Se7en deposited the both of them over the top. Se7en stepped over the top rope as the apparent winner. Hyatt got back in the ring, having no clue that he had just won the match. Se7en returned and gave Hyatt a bicycle kick right to the mush. Perverse

(3) White Tiger beat Ben Thrasher 5:20. “Mr. Paws and Claws” taking on a huge and brutish thug in Thrasher. It was ugly early but it got some better. Thrasher leveled Tiger with a bigtime lariat and hit a sitout spinebuster for a near fall. But Big Ben knocked the wind out of himself with a lumbering charge. Tiger downed him with a Russian legsweep and followed with the Tiger splash for the pin.

Camaro did a sitdown interview with Senior Official Rudy Charles. Camaro brought up seeing Charles get clobbered with a chair at one of the TNA PPVs at the Fairgrounds. Charles said he couldn’t remember. In the midst of talking about TNA, Charles blurted out a Dusty Rhodes imitation and had no awareness of it. Charles said he got cut by TNA and it is what it is. He loved his time there and he didn’t want to sound bitter. Camaro brought up Mike Posey being back in TNA. Charles went into a fog. He pulled some stones out of his pocket and starting rolling them around in his hand, like Bogart in “Caine Mutiny”. Charles went into a rant about “white pocket Posey” He said it was all lies. He complained about Posey wearing a V neck ref shirt when everyone knows it’s a collared shirt for PPV. He said Posey would make fun of him behind his back and was trying to steal his spot. Charles snapped out of the lunacy and said Posey was a good guy who deserved all the best. They cut to a close up or Charles mumbling under his breath.

(4) Matt Boyce beat Will Owens to retain the NWA Mid-America TV Championship in 11:45. It looked like this match would be over before it got started. Orion Bishop came out with Owens. As he was being banished by the ref, Owens clocked Boyce with the belt. Boyce was making a miraculous comeback until Owens slammed him down on the back of his concussed head. Owens went after the vulnerable body part. There was a long stretch with Owens grounding Boyce and cheating to keep him there. Here was where another camera would have really helped. Camaro pointed out that Owens was yet to defend the NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Title. Owens thought it was over after hitting a classic gordbuster but no. Boyce countered a short arm clothesline with a spinning neckbreaker. Big comeback and a nice standing dropkick by Boyce, but Owens took the wind out of him and appeared to have the match in hand, when Boyce caught him with an inside cradle.

Bishop returned to lay Boyce out with the Long Count (spear). Steve-O made the chair wielding save.

THOUGHTS: This was the fourth episode of NWA ME to air since the arrival of Bill Behrens as Executive Producer. Things got better right away and have improved each week. It’s been a long time coming. After Jeff Daniels departed as booker this summer, the first few “New Era” episodes had some life in them. Largely written by Jason James and prominently featuring Shawn Shultz, they were uneven as hell but made for compelling viewing at times. To say NWA ME TV has been floundering since then would be putting it mildly. In between the occasional flashes of decency (pieces of the Will Owens and White Tiger stuff), there were long stretches of horribleness. Some if it was comically bad. Some bordered on being unwatchable. The show was basically on life support as an internet-only product when Mike Porter brought Behrens on board. It’s still internet only, but the booking, the formatting of the television and most importantly, the talent roster, are all greatly improved. The production values not so much. At least they got the audio dialed in this week. I don’t mind the single camera most of the time, because it stays active. This was the third episode to air with Behrens at the helm, and it was the best one so far. The first two episodes were solid by the number stuff. The wrestling was much better. The thing that distinguished the current episode was the zany, unpredictable quality that has in times past, made NWA ME so much fun to watch AND the wrestling was pretty good, too. Hayme and Rockwell opened the show with a very strong match, playing off the angle that closed the previous episode. I liked cutting to the clip from last week explaining why Rockwell was so badly wanting to kick Hayme’s ass. The Mega Rumble, of course, is a Behrens specialty. Se7en is green for sure, but he’s a monster by NWA ME standards and was booked accordingly. You could see the thing with Hyatt coming a mile away, but that’s fine. He's an appealing buffoon. I liked it for the zaniness factor. The centerpiece of this show was the interview with Rudy Charles. I thought the “aliens” vignette with Posey on last week pretty far out there. Who would expect to hear Art mentioned on a pro wrestling show? This one was completely off the chain. Charles riffing on Bogart as Captain Queeg blew my mind. I thought Aaron Camaro did a nice job here as well. The main event provided solid storyline development. The titles are being made to feel important. Rockwell seems bound and determined to get Posey’s junior title. Owens is none too keen on defending the heavyweight title, and Boyce now has a claim there. Meanwhile, Bishop has set his sights on Boyce’s title. They’ve got some over babyfaces in Rockwell, Boyce, and Tiger. The building blocks are there. It will be interesting to see what Behrens does with them.

Jim Cornette has announced the NWA Future Legends Cup which will be a four month tournament on the NWA New Beginnings promotion, with the winner facing Blue Demon Jr. for the NWA title.  It started 3-14 at the Hilton University Place in Charlotte

2/27 Ultimate NWA Results

207 fans packed the Scottsboro, AL National Guard Armory to see another great show by the guys of Ultimate NWA. Fans that brought canned goods could receive $2 off their tickets(Normally priced at $8 for adults and $6 for children). These cans went to the Manna House ministries that feed needy people in
Northeastern Alabama.

A 10
Bell salute was given to Tony "Moose Mahoney" Mitchell, a former wrestler and promoter that played an important part in bringing Ultimate NWA to Scottsboro. A video package was shown and his son and cousin came out to sit ringside for the evening.

It was announced that former tag team champions would face each other tonight... Right Now!

1) Adam Jacobs d. Chrisjen Hayme by DQ in
8:37

An even contest for the first few minutes with the advantage going back and forth. Hayme hits a huge clothesline on Jacobs. The two former partners brawl around the ring with stiff shots. Back in the ring, Hayme gains the advantage and tries for a moonsault off the ropes. Jacobs hits a tilt-a-whirl russian legsweep and goes up top. Ben Thrasher hits the ring and pushes Jacobs off. The ref calls for the bell as the beatdown continues. Corey Hollis makes the save.

2) Dump Sanders d. Kent Reznor in 6:52 with a Black "Holler" Slam

The much bigger Sanders, flying solo without Lil Tater or Jubee Jane McGee, stayed in control for the first part of this match as Reznor's only offense was some attempts to wear down the legs of the 360lbs Sanders. Dump misses a corner splash and Reznor hits a codebreaker. Reznor chokes Sanders and uses the ropes for extra leverage until the referee catches him. Reznor and the ref have words, giving Dump enough time to recover. Reznor charges Sanders and gets hit with a huge Black "Holler" Slam for the 3 count.

Rev. Greg DeVries from the Manna House thanks everyone for their donations and talks more about their organization.

Adam Roberts comes out and tells the crowd that last week his robe disappeared and he wanted to know who was responsible. Brian Rivers comes out and says he's just the messenger but he knows who has the robe and he shows Roberts a feather from it and smiles. Roberts says the old saying goes "Don't shoot the messenger" but not tonight... and he hits Rivers. The referee starts the match.

3) Adam Roberts d. Brian Rivers in
4:46 with a Main Event Slam

Roberts had the early advantage but Rivers fought back. Rivers hit a flip-over neck snap and choked Roberts in the corner. Rivers charges with a boot and misses. Roberts regains control, slamming Rivers for a 2 count. Rivers recovers to kill Roberts with a clothesline for a two count of his own. More chokes and a running boot by Rivers to Roberts. Roberts kicks off a figure four attempt and fires back with a killer clothesline of his own, followed up by a big slam. Rivers is down and Roberts goes up top for an elbow drop but Rivers moves. Rivers and Roberts are both making their way to their feet when Roberts counters Rivers' attempt at a comeback and hits the Main Event Slam for the 3.

4) Corey Hollis d. Foresaken by roll up in 7:36

The much bigger Foresaken attempted to battle the speed and ability of Corey Hollis with power moves and a hidden chain that he kept pulling out of his pocket to choke Hollis. Foresaken wasn't able to keep the relentless Hollis down no matter what he threw at him. Hollis took all that Foresaken had to give and still managed to outsmart him, getting the better of him when he surprised him with a roll up out of the corner for the clean win. Ben Thrasher and Chrisjen Hayme come out to attack Corey Hollis with Adan Roberts and Adam Jacobs making the save. Jacobs, Roberts, and Hollis challenge Hayme and Thrasher to find a partner to face them in a 6 man tag for the main event. Hayme and Thrasher accept.

Moses comes out and says he is sick and tired of seeing Thrasher interfere and while he may only have one good arm tonight, that's all he needs to beat Thrasher.

5) Amos Moses d. Ben Thrasher in 6:24 by roll up

Thrasher beat Moses senseless, smashing his arm with a hammer on the ring post and destroying him in the ring. Referee Jimbo Fisher and Thrasher have words over Thrasher's cruel punishment to Moses. Moses uses the opportunity to roll Thrasher up for the win. Thrasher was furious and grabbed a couple of chairs, putting Moses' arm in one of them and raising the other one to hit it. Referee Jimbo Fisher grabs the chair and he pushes Thrasher after Thrasher gets in his face. Thrasher nails Fisher with the chair and then smashes Moses' arm in the other chair as well. Thrasher leaves the ring, smiling at what he had done.

6) Adam Roberts, Adam Jacobs, and Corey Hollis d. Chisjen Hayme, Ben Thrasher, and Brian Rivers in 11:34 when Adam Roberts hits the Main Event Slam on him

On that night WWE & ECW Superstar Nunzio Will be in action... The "Sicilian Shooter" has an open contract to take on the very best the NWA DAWG Pound has to offer... Offers have been flooding in to NWA DAWG Pound President Dr. Lawrence Zirconium's office from wrestlers spanning all over the
United States who want to go one on one with the Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion.. Nunzio's opponent will be announced in the coming weeks but you can bet it will be some one who will give the founding father of the Full Blooded Italians a run for his money...

Also signed for this night will be one of, if not the most exciting and entertaining tag team in all of professional wrestling, Amasis and Ophidian, The Osirian Portal.. The Osirian Portal want to add NWA Gold to their already impressive list of credentials.. They have gone on record that they want to be the very first NWA DAWG Pound Tag Team Champions and use that as a catapult to launch them to NWA World Tag Team Title gold...

NWA DAWG Pound has also partnered with Womans Superstars Uncensored who is the number one women's wrestling organization on the North East .. The partnership has already paid dividends as the WSU Spirit Title will be defended against one of the toughest and most talented woman's wrestlers in the word, Kacee Carlisle... Right now the champion is
New Jersey wrestling standout Alicia but who knows if she will be champion after March 6th because she takes on her former tag team partner and former WSU Spirit Champion Brittney Savage.. It does not mater who comes out on top, either one will be in for the fight of her life when Kacee goes for the Gold... Make sure you check out WSU on the web at http://www.declarationofindependents.net/wsu/

There are four full matches signed for the April 24th show that have title implications for both NWA DAWG Pound and for the Wrestlers who hold NWA Championships around the world.

First Match pits the Former NWA National Champion the "Dark Child" Chance Prophet against the Former NWA Force One Iron League Champion the "Canadian Shooter" Tommy Force who as always is accompanied by his diabolical manger, the "Solar Power Love Machine" JADEN.. Chance was forced to relinquish his NWA National Title because of a near career threatening leg injury and he has gone on record stating that he plans to defeat Tommy Force on his path to regain the title he never lost.. The "Canadian Shooter" has different plans.. His manager JADEN told us that Tommy Force will defeat Chance and use the victory to earn a title shot at the NWA National, NWA North American or the NWA World Heavyweight Title's respectfully.

Both wrestlers have been in the ring with the who's who of professional wrestling..

Chance Prophet has victories over former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Steve Corino, WWE Superstar and Former ROH Champion Jamie Noble and TNA Superstar Eric Young.. Tommy has also been in the ring with Former NWA World Heavyweight Champions Chris Candid & Steve Corino, WWE Hall of Famer Nikolai Volkoff, Then WWE Light Heavyweight Champion Gilberg and is a current training partner to UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre

Both Wrestlers want to shoot to the top of NWA DAWG Pound and winning this match will play heavily of the seeding for the future Tournament to crown the first NWA DAWG Pound Heavyweight Champion.. This will be a match fans of pure wrestling can not miss...

The second match signed for NWA DAWG Pound's debut at the Ocean Sports Academy on April 24th has two of pro wrestling's most promising Junior Heavyweights clashing in the first fall of a best of three series.. On that night you will see the "Ace of Spades" Joey Spades take on the super charismatic Pinkie Sanchez.. Pinkie Sanchez is a beloved Fan Favorite in the North East and he will bring his off the wall style to the ring to delite the fans in attendance.. His opponent is a mean, vicious hybrid wrestler who is just as comfortable on the wrestling mat as he is jumping off the top rope with a devastating high flying maneuver.. This promises to be the match that will put both ultra talented superstars on the map as both wrestlers desperately want a shot at NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Mike Quackenbush

Hometown hero Biggie Biggs makes is return to
Ocean Township, NJ to take on an impressive but dangerous wrestling star known as Rob Eckos... Biggie has won NWA Gold in New York, New Jersey and Virginia and looks to climb the ladder of NWA DAWG Pound by winning in his home town, Rob Eckos though wants to spoil Bigg's Homecoming by defeating the "Overweight Lover" in the middle of the squared circle.. Rob also is no stranger to the NWA and plans to use Biggie as a stepping stone on his way to the NWA World Title...

There will be a battle of young up and comers as the "New Era" Cory Kastle takes on Mike Donovan.. Both wrestlers have a lot to prove and on April 24th they will both be on their A game.. Cory promises to have his wrestling boots on fire and to use that speed to deliver the knock out blow and win this match..
