9/12 - CZW News and Notes: Official Results, Huge Match Signed and more!
As anticipated, the CZW locker room tore the house down this past Friday night as the Combat Zone did battle to honor their fallen friends Chris Cash and JC Bailey at the annual "Down with the Sickness" event. As always, opportunities were seized, envelopes were pushed, statements were made, and one very familiar face returned to the Combat Zone... let's take a look back at the official results...
1. JT ROBERTS and CORE defeated GREG EXCELLENT and JOHNNY CALZONE
2. SAMI CALLIHAN defeated JOHNNY GARGANO, JOKER and CHUCK TAYLOR in a 4-Way Showcase Match
3. IRISH DRIVEBY defeated TEAM MACKTION to advance in the CZW Tag Title Tournament
4. THE RUNAWAYS defeated CHEECH and CLOUDY to advance in the CZW Tag Title Tournament
5. AR FOX defeated RUCKUS, ALEX COLON, RICOCHET, tHURTeen, and FACADE to win the Chris Cash Aerial Assault Ladder Match and become the #1 Contender to the CZW Jr. Title
6. ADAM COLE defeated "THE BLK JEEZ" to retain the CZW Junior Heavyweight Championship
7. DREW GULAK defeated NICK GAGE by DQ to retain the CZW WIRED Championship
8. DRAKE YOUNGER defeated MASADA
9. JON MOXLEY defeated SCOTTY VORTEKZ to retain the CZW World Heavyweight Championship
- Aside from the in-ring highlights, CZW fans were treated to a big surprise when the "Notorious 187" HOMICIDE was welcomed back to the Combat Zone by Owner DJ Hyde. Much to the approval of the CZW fans, Homicide declared he was ready to return to the black and yellow ring, and will do so on October 9th when he faces SAMI CALLIHAN in one-on-one action when CZW returns to South Philly! What does Homicide have in store for the Combat Zone? Does the international superstar have what it takes to survive in CZW in 2010? We will find out on October 9th!
- 2 More Teams Advanced in the CZW World Tag Team Title Tournament. The Runaways of Joe Gacy and Ryan Slater defeated Cheech and Cloudy, and will now advance to the next round where they will face the
OSIRIAN PORTAL! Fan favorites Ryan McBride and Rich Swann (Irish Driveby) also advanced, with an impressive victory over Cheech and Cloudy. They will now face the team of Joker and "The Blk Jeez" (Philly's Most Wanted) in the next round. Which team will emerge as the next CZW World Tag Team Champions?
- Adam Cole finally put an end to his war with "The BLK Jeez". The confident blue chipper from the CZW Academy gave 'Jeez' a taste of his own medicine, bending the rules en route to another big victory over the former Best of the Best Champion. With "the Blk Jeez" moving on to the Tag Tournament, and Adam Cole's attention seemingly headed in a different, more attractive, direction... have we seen the last of this war in the dub?
- For those who can't wait for CZW's October 9th return to South Philly, the stars of CZW will join up with the MBA to provide a special night of wrestling for a good cause this Thursday (9/16) at the CZW Arena in South Philly. Come see stars like DJ Hyde, Sami Callihan, "the Blk Jeez", as well as the stars of the future and many more as CZW and MBA team up for 'Autism Awareness' this Thursday! Admission is FREE for this event with a donation to the cause. We will see you there!
