NWA Anarchy taped two hours of television at the NWA Arena in Cornelia, Ga.

With the Anarchy talent roster being as thin as it is, the key confrontations involving the stars really have to produce, and in this case they did. The first hour main was excellent. They also did some nice stuff to set up the Mysterious Benefactors Cup show on September 18. And the wild brawl that ended the show sent the fans home with a hot angle to talk about. The word of mouth about this show should be strong. Too bad there weren’t more mouths there to spread the word.

Attendance was lousy. Only 70 but I wouldn’t read much into that on a spectacularly beautiful holiday weekend.

Show opened with a ten bell for Luna Vachon, Tony Borne and J.C. Bailey.

(1) NWA Anarchy Young Lion’s Champion Anthony Henry beat Tommy Daniels via submission in 3:15. This was a dark match. Good thing because a) Daniels has a big gut and is too green for TV and b) it didn’t help Henry’s cause as champion with the exception of that sweet application of the Texas Cloverleaf.

(2) Billy Buck & Brodie Ray Chase beat Aaron Lee & Chris Mayne in 8:11. Match was too long and far too even to my way of thinking. Fans chanted “midget” at Lee. Buck took the heat. Mayne took a bad bump off the apron during the house cleaning. The finish looked great. Buck’s superkick appeared to catch Lee right on the button.

Attorney Jeff G. Bailey came to the ring with Talent & Money. He said New Wave were in for the beating of their lives next week. Bailey went on to say that NWA National Champion Phil Shatter wasn’t there because he had beaten everyone on the Anarchy roster, so he was cancelling the open challenge. Shadow Jackson’s music interrupted Bailey midsentence. Jackson came to ringside and said Shatter had not beaten him. Bailey said since Mikal Judas beat Jackson for the Anarchy Heavyweight Title, Jackson had gone soft like “a chocolate drop melting in the sun, you’re not what you were.” Bailey claimed he was the hard baller, the shot caller, and the straw that stirs the drink at NWA Anarchy and Jackson would never be on Shatter’s level. Jackson vowed to become champion AND put a boot up Bailey’s ass at the Mysterious Benefactors show. Bailey said Jackson would join Kimo as a forgotten man. Jackson said Bailey was talking in a little boy voice. Bailey sold it with a double take. Jackson walked off and left Bailey steaming. This was great. It was pretty much a can’t miss with two of Anarchy’s best talkers out there.

 (3) “The Temptation” Shaun Tempers (with Bo Newsome) beat Dustin Tarr in 6:44. The promo Tempers cut at the last show to introduce the new gimmick with Newsome as his protégé was said to be quite stellar. It’s Jersey Shore translated to the Redneck Riviera. However, nothing was done here to further their story. It was just a generic match and wasted an opportunity to get more impact. Maybe a vignette or a replay of Tempers’ interview can be inserted in the TV. Finish saw Tarr (a Briscoe Brothers protégé) get ahead of himself by venturing to the top rope. Tempers stopped him cold and hit the hangman neckbreaker.

(4) Seth Delay beat Jacob Ashworth to retain the NWA Anarchy Television Title in 6:57. There were repeated chants of “Seth, you suck and it’s all your fault”. It was funny the first time but after that…Ashworth has come a long way. He’s got size and has gotten in better shape. All of his high impact moves looked fine. But even when Ashworth appeared to have Delay in serious trouble, the crowd never cheered for him like he was a legit threat. The response was all heat on Delay. It’s a tough thing to overcome when fans have so often seen Ashworth as a referee, a security guy and a jobber. Ashworth got a big near fall with a full nelson facebuster, but Delay necked him on the top rope and won it clean with a top rope elbow.

Delay said the only thing that was his fault was being the best wrestlers those moron fans had seen. Then the bad news – he and John Johnson would not be facing “Mild” Billy Buck and “Granddaddy of Them All” Chase in the Mysterious Benefactors Tournament because Johnson didn’t pass the physical, but he was bringing in a team to take care of those nimrods. That brought NWA Anarchy owner Jerry Palmer out. He said fine but the stipulation would remain in effect – whoever wins the fall gets a shot at Delay’s TV title.

(5) Mikal Judas (with Cid Istic) beat Slim J to retain the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Championship in 11:27. This was the extreme end of big man vs. little man and they both did a marvelous job of making it a believable match. J jumped the bell. Cid left. Judas began to systematically take J apart. A series of kicks from J sent Judas to the outside. J hit a corkscrew plancha that got the crowd behind him. But Judas brought J back inside with a monstrous vertical suplex. The destruction continued with a sadistic variation of the Garvin Stomp and a giant-sized back suplex. Judas made J suffer with a punishing surfboard. J rallied with Screwdriver on the Rocks and the flying reverse DDT for near falls. Judas did a pie-face STO for a near fall. The high point of the match saw J reverse El Crucifijo into a rear naked choke that finally brought the big man down. J hit a huracanrana off the top for another near fall. J went up top again and Judas kicked the ropes to crotch him. Judas ended it with sick version of El Crucifijo, tossing J halfway across the ring.

Postmatch, Judas was threatening to launch J onto a steel chair with a second El Crucifijo when Tank hit the ring. Judas backed off.

Second hour…

(6) Skirra Corvus (with Enoch Tsarion) beat Antwan Jordan in 3:40. Pretty close to 100% squash with Corvus winning it with the curb stomp.

(7) Hate Junkies (Strkynyn & Dany Only with Reverend Dan Wilson) beat Lane Vasser & Corey Hollis in 9:04. This was competitive, which made sense (unlike match #2) because Vasser and Hollis are both worth pushing. Not a bad match, just not on the level of Hate Junkies’ recent matches. Only wrestled with a cast on the broken radius bone in his left arm. Hollis got his hands on Reverend, but Junkies cut him off and dished out a beating. It was night the night for wicked bumps to the floor, as the one Hollis took sounded like no fun at all. Hollis hit a springboard enzuigiri to set up the hot tag. Vasser hit a power slam on Stryknyn and stood over him going for dramatic effect I guess, but it turned into a pregnant pause. As Vasser hit the ropes, Wilson whacked him in the head with his cane. Stryknyn then pinned Vasser with a DDT variant. Vasser appropriately sold the cane shot big time.

 (8) Shadow Jackson beat Andrew Alexander in 9:12. A nice boost for Jackson going into the big title match. Alexander was a first-class choice as the opponent. His stuff looks good and he makes his opponent look good. They wrestled at first. Alexander sucker punched Jackson the break. Jackson Irish whipped Alexander with such force that the momentum carried Alexander over the top rope. Back inside, Jackson dropped his head and Alexander caught him with a swinging neckbreaker. Alexander worked the neck. Jackson’s comeback built to the stunner. Alexander threw a foot over the ropes at two. Alexander put the Kibosh (Zigzag) on Jackson, but he kicked out. Jackson blocked second Kibosh and hit the 1031 for the pin. A totally solid match.

 (9) Tank defeated Aden Chambers in 4:40. Chambers came out as a comedic heel with a pink feather boa. Hey, it was worth a try, it’s not like Chambers was tearing it up as babyface, and in this case, the switch paid off. Chambers connected with the crowd much better as a heel. For starters, Chambers warned Tank not to touch his face. A beating ensued. At one point, Tank used super fan Franklin Dove’s camera to take a photo of his work. Chambers hurt his back trying for a suplex, and Tank added to the misery with a back chop. Tank used the chokebreaker to finish Chambers off.

Afterwards, Judas decked Tank with the Mafia Kick and warned him to stay out of his business.

 (10) New Wave (Steven Walters & Derrick Driver) vs. Talent & Money (JT Talent & Andrew Pendleton III) was a no contest and one of the damndest pull aparts you would ever want to see. Talent & Money met New Wave as they came down the ramp and it was an all out brawl. In no time at all, three refs were on the deck. Security and a couple of jibronis got involved. They got knocked down as well. Walters was hitting anything that moved. And those were no love taps. Driver ran Talent into the announcer’s booth full force. Bailey was taking potshots at anyone unfortunate enough to wander into his vicinity. It reached a point where everyone was on the floor (except Bailey) with the two teams clawing at each other. Palmer and Iceberg lead a second wave of wrestlers out, so there were about 15 guys out there trying to stop them. Driver broke free and sprinted around the ring to dive on top of Talent. That was awesome. With a semblance of order restored, Palmer said this was out of control. Right on cue, the two teams went berserk.  When that battle got stopped, Palmer said both teams were suspended until they figured out what to do. Fans were chanting for a cage match. It broke out and the two teams brawled up the ramp to end the show. This was far more effective than any match could have possibly been. The intensity and spontaneity were such that they gave the fans the feel of real fight. Add in the heat from a big crowd, it would have gone down as the best pull apart in the history of the building.

The decision to do a brawl instead of a match in the main event was a last second audible and a hell of a call…A good time was had by the entire Anarchy crew that took part in the annual Dragon*Con festivities Friday night. Several Dragon*Con veterans said it was the best time they had ever had there. Unlike last year, the venue was packed at the start of the show which would be around 1000. They did an insane battle royal that spilled out into the lobby area that included everyone on the show including Anarchy owner Jerry Palmer…Shaun Tempers defeated to win the Dragon*Con Cup; Talent & Money beat Hate Junkies and Slim J & Murder One to win the tag team version; NWA National Champion Phil Shatter was scheduled to be there but did not make the show. Dany Only left this year's event under his own power. I'm sure GG Allin would have been disappointed...Teams announced thus far for Mysterious Benefactors Tag Team Tournament on September 18 include Shaun Tempers & Bo Newsom, Brodie Chase & Billy Buck, Youth Gone Wild (Anthony Henry & Dustin Knight), Orion Bishop & Skirra Corvus (with Enoch Tsarion); Hate Junkies (with Reverend Dan Wilson) and Seth Delay’s mystery team, plus Shatter defending the NWA National Title vs. Shadow Jackson…Chris Mayne was hurt legit on a bad bump off the apron toward the end of his match. I didn’t get word on the extent of his injuries…A scheduled tag match featuring the newly formed alliance between Tempers & Newsom was scrapped due to Newsom’s being ill…Alexander debut a new Zig Zag type maneuver called the Kibosh…Young Griffin Palmer was quite taken with father Jerry’s mic work...John Johnson couldn't be there, so Greg Hunter did solo commentary. Michael Gentry handled the ring announcing.

HAAS NEW
TEXAS CHAMPION!

Charlie Haas pinned 2-time Texas champion Michael Faith to become the NWA Texas Heavyweight champion September 4, at NWA Southwest affiliate Panhandle Wrestling Federation in Amarillo, Texas.

After his win, Charlie said the moment was also for his late friend Lance Cade, who was scheduled for the same date to get a title shot but passed away on August 13. He pointed to the sky both in the ring and post match photos

"Let this be known now," said Haas. "I now hold one of the most honored belts in NWA, and I'm also ranked number five in NWA by Pro Wrestling Illustrated so what that means Phil Shatter, Sheik, and Adam Pearce you're all within reach now. I am coming for your belts!"

HAAS vs. FAITH for Texas Heavyweight Title

Two-time NWA Texas Champion Michael ‘The Largeador” Faith will make his first title defense September 4 versus the challenge of former WWE star Charlie Haas at NWA-SW’s Panhandle Wrestling affiliate in Amarillo, Texas.

Faith, who weighs 340 pounds, is one of the biggest wrestlers in Texas but extremely agile for his size.  He is so agile he has toured Japan many times over the past two years as an American beast.  He defeated the Texas legend Kevin Northcutt in 2009, and just recently Chad Thomas who won a match over Lance Cade in his final NWA appearance.

Cade was suppose to get a Texas title shot but passed away before the opportunity so his close friend Haas said he will win for both of them in Amarillo. “I don’t care how big Faith.....he has what belongs to us (Cade) and I am coming for it.”

Women's World Title Match set at NWA-SW

NWA Southwest owner/commissioner Ken Taylor announced August 29, that LaRenia will represent NWA-SW in facing NWA Women's World champion Tasha Simone on October 2nd, on the campus of Western Oklahoma State College in Altus, Oklahoma.

Taylor said this would mark only the second time since 2002 that NWA-SW has hosted a Women's Word title match, which Texan Char Starr won over Madison in Corpus Christi. He cited LaRenia's dedication to the sport of wrestling for the past five years and being trained for a year professionally under NWA legend Tom Jones in Oklahoma City, and still training with him weekly, as qualfied to get the shot.

"This is an opportunity few ever get in this business, so LaRenia now has an opportunity to represent NWA Southwest and make her mark, but she'll have 18 years of professional experience to overcome in champion who is known to be ruthless and hardcore," said Taylor.
