NWA ANARCHY TV TAPING REPORT 9/18

120 in attendance at the NWA Arena in Cornelia, Ga.

1) Corey Hollis def Matt Sells via pinfall after the flying knee.

Mysterious Benefactor Memorial Cup Tournament Round 1:

- Prior to the tournament starting "Hollywood Hacksaw" Andrew Alexander came out to confront Greg Hunter about not being booked in the tournament. Alexander stated for the entire history of Anarchy he'd been one of the best tag team wrestlers in the company, even co-holding match of the year honors in 2008. He stated it wasn't his fault that his partners always deserted him, and that he could team with anyone from announcer Greg Hunter, to the guy in the front row taking pictures (Superfan Frankin Dove), and still win the tournament and it was a travesty that "The Hollywood Hacksaw" had been overlooked.

2) Slim J & Lane Vasser def Shaun Tempers & Bo Newsom by DQ when Tempers & Newsom refused to break the 5 count on a double team. Tempers & Newsom continued their assault post match with Tempers leaving J laying with the Hangman's Neckbreaker. Funny pre-match note, "The Temptation" Shaun Tempers & "Bro" Newsom channeled Gorgeous George in douchey fashion by spraying down the ring and Greg Hunter with Axe body spray.

3) The Hate Junkies (Dany Only & Stryknyne) w/ Rev. Dan Wilson def Youth Gone Wild (Dustin Knight & Anthony Henry) via pinfall. YGW had a tremendous showing as a tag team in this bout busting out an array of amazing double team maneuvers. Finish saw YGW hit an awesome High Cross Body/Frog Splash combo on Stryknyne, but while
Wilson was distracting the ref, Only came off the top to club Henry in the back of the head with his cast, dragging Stryknyne's lifeless body onto Henry for the 3 Count.

4) Billy Buck & Brodie Ray Chase defeated N*Style (Don E & Josh O) w/ John "The Body" Johnson via pinfall. N*Style who are NWA-APW regulars were TV Champion Seth Delay's hand picked team to take out (his words not ours) "Mild" Billy and "The Grandaddy Of Them All" Brodie Ray. They were unsuccessful in this endeavor. Post match Johnson slapped Chase which got him knocked on his round mound by "The Great American Scream Machine." However, once Chase walked through the curtain a large commotion ensued and moments later he came rolling down the ramp in considerable pain and had to be helped out by security while Johnson stood over his fallen body. Chase's injury left Billy Buck without a 2nd round partner.

- End of Round One-
Hate Junkies, Slim J & Lane Vasser, Billy Buck & Brodie Chase & NWA Anarchy Tag Team Champions Skirra Corvus & Orion Bishop (receiving a championship bye) all advance to the semi-finals.

5) Tank def. Mikael Judas via pinfall after the choke-breaker in a non-title match. This was an impromptu bout that Judas' manager Cid Istic got the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion involved in. Istic & Judas hit the ring with Istic stating that they were sick & tired of hearing people talk about Tank, and that Judas proved Tank wasn't a worthy challenger when he laid him out at the last TV taping. "The Strong Style Psycho" answered those remarks by coming to the ring and asking for a non-title match. Tank: "This ain't about the title, it's about me kicking your ass!". Istic accepted the match, and Judas controlled most of the bout when Tank hit the choke-breaker out of no where and pinned the Anarchy Champion much to the delight of those in attendance.

- Break-

6) The Hate Junkies w/ Rev. Dan Wilson def Slim J & Lane Vasser via pinfall after The Hate Crime to advance to the finals. Lane Vasser ,despite the loss, had his best showing yet in this match and proved that he is a future star that shouldn't be overlooked. Highlights included Vasser using his power to make his partner and mentor Slim J, a human projectile weapon taking down both the Junkies. Junkies eventually took over on Slim capitalizing on the neck softened up by Tempers in round 1. (Do remember that
Wilson continues to manage Tempers behind the scenes as they'd mentioned would continue when they went their separate ways, coincidence? Highly unlikely). J fought hard and finally escaped The Junkies wrath to make a big tag to a big man as Vasser exploded in the ring hitting an assortment of impressive power moves, topping it off with a standing SHOOTING STAR PRESS!? which blew the roof off the NWA Arena. Junkies broke up the pinfall, and with his inexperience Vasser tagged in Slim J, who's neck was still aching him. J, as he always does, hit the ring with plenty of heart and determination and bounced the Junkies around for a bit, but his exposed weakness caught up with him when he attempted to superplex Stryknyne, and with Only's help was caught in a counter that resulted in The Hate Crime off the top. 1,2,3.

- Prior the next bout, "Wild" Billy Buck came out to confirm that Chase wouldn't be able to continue in the tournament. Greg Hunter asked him he'd found a partner. Buck said he hadn't but he'd like to settle this matter now. Buck called out a man who, while he didn't like but he respected, who he'd gone to war against in singles and tag team competition and who he could sympathize with when it came to being left on his own and stated that he'd like to call out Andrew Alexander. The fans initially were puzzled by this. Alexander appeared, thought about his decision, and stated he wasn't anybodies second choice, so no he declined the offer. This brought out NWA Anarchy Tag Team Champions Skirra Corvus & Orion Bishop lead by Enoch Tsarion. Tsarion stated that it was put up or shut up time from Buck, and since the "Hollywood Hasbeen" didn't want to team with him, he'd just have to get destroyed by himself once again. This lit a fire under Alexander that I don't think we've ever seen. Alexander: "Has been? Has been? I've dedicated 10 years of my life to wrestling in this building!". Alexander basically stated that he was wrestling here when guys like Corvus & Bishop hadn't even started wrestling school, and cut the most inspired promo of his career that ended in him agreeing to team with Buck, & challenging the over-cocky Tsarion to put up the tag titles if he was so confident. Tsarion agreed, saying that Buck & Alexander weren't a team, they were just "two dudes!" and the champs would walk all over them.

7) Billy Buck & Andrew Alexander defeated Skirra Corvus & Orion Bishop w/Enoch Tsarion via pinfall after Buck hit the superkick on Corvus to become the new NWA Anarchy Tag Team Champions and advance to the finals. Tremendous match. Bishop was just a beast here throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Billy Buck and Corvus had the intensity level turned up to 11 as well. As it looked like Buck was all but finished the Anarchy fans broke out in the chant we never thought we'd hear "ANDREW, ANDREW!", and Billy finally managed to make the tag to Alexander. The monster Bishop was disposed of as he missed The Long Count (football spear), and Alexander went for the Rodeo Driver on Corvus, who countered and locked him ready to plant him with The Graveyard Shift (curbstomp), when Buck hit the superkick out of nowhere and Corvus was pinned, crowning new tag team champions in one of the most shocking moments of the year.

- The celebration however was short lived as The Hate Junkies attacked the newly crowned champions immediately.
Wilson intimidated referee Ken Wallace into ringing the bell, and since this was the next scheduled bout, Wallace didn't have much of a choice.

8) The Hate Junkies (Dany Only & Stryknyne) w/ Rev. Dan Wilson defeated Andrew Alexander & Billy Buck via pinfall to win the 2010 Mysterious Benefactor Memorial Tag Team Cup Tournament. Match immediately began with the Junkies controlling an already exhausted Alexander, and they dominated him strongly for a good 5-6 minutes. Alexander finally found a way to tag in Billy Buck, who rocked the Junkies with several big moves, topped off with the samoan drop, but it only got a two count on Stryknyne who'd had the chance to catch the breather that the new tag champs didn't prior to the bout. As Buck was winding up for the superkick, Only blindsided him with a Yakuza kick. Alexander forced back into the match, put on a strong showing given the punishment he'd already taken. He went for the Rodeo Driver on Stryknyne, but while the ref was with Only & Buck on the outside,
Wilson again got on the apron for the distraction and Alexander knocked him out cold. Unfortunately when Wilson fell, the staff of righteousness flew into the ring and Stryknyne used it to KO Alexander, and toss it before Wallace turned back around to get the win.

Main Event Time!
9) Phil Shatter w/ Jeff G. Bailey defeated Shadow Jackson via DQ to retain the NWA National Heavyweight Championship to some degree of controversy. You'd think after a night as long and emotional as we'd already seen the fans would've been exhausted for this match, but when you have two of the best in the sport locking horns for one it's most coveted prizes, that simply isn't the case as an atmosphere of electricity enveloped the NWA arena. These two thoroughbreds battled tooth and nail in one of the best main events in recent NWA Anarchy history for over 25 minutes with the fans frothing at the mouth the entire time. Despite his amazing size and skills, "The Universal Soldier" Shatter couldn't overpower
Jackson in the early going of the bout, and finally went to the area where he does have the advantage on Shadow and that was the technical wrestling department. Shatter, a master ring general and technical expert, dismantled Jackson's left arm piece by piece. This intelligent strategy also negated much of Jackson's power which Shatter wasn't able to get a handle on earlier. Down the stretch of the match, Shatter got cocky and went up top and Jackson got a 2nd wind rising to his feet to press slam the national champion off the top rope and "The People's Champ" was back in control. Jackson was rocking and rolling Shatter with one armed punches, bionic elbows, a belly to belly suplex and a stunner, but none of those moves could pin the man who's held the NWA National title for over 20 months. The bout gained an even footing and the two went back and forth when the newest Anarchy official Ian Buchanan was laid out inadvertently by Jackson via Shatter's devious and strategic ring positioning. The match pressed onward, and Shatter tried to put Jackson away with the PTSD Power Bomb, but Jackson escaped his clutches and reversed it into the 1031 Spinebuster as a 2nd referee in Dee Byers slid in to make the 3 count! The arena came unglued to one of the loudest reactions in it's history as Shadow Jackson, "The People's Champ" was announced as the new NWA National Heavyweight Champion. This of course is where the controversy began as official Ian Buchanan recovered on the floor he had a vehement argument with official Dee Byers. This even brought out NWA Arena legend and current match-maker Iceberg to join in the conference. This was going un-noticed by most of the fans as they basked in the glow of their hero winning the big prize. Finally, a decision was reached and Iceberg looked none too happy. Greg Hunter was forced to announce that since Buchanan was the official assigned the contest, he had ruled that Jackson was DQ'd for striking an official and the decision was reversed. The fans were livid as Jackson refused to relinquish possession of the title belt as Jeff G. and "The Universal Soldier" demanded it be returned. Iceberg stated to Bailey and Shatter that everyone here knew Jackson was the rightful champion because he pinned Shatter 1, 2, 3 in the middle and that only a technicality prevented that from occurring but he wasn't done and as Anarchy matchmaker, he'd be making a late night phone call to NWA Director Bob Trobich to figure out what we were going to do about this. A roller coaster ride of a night ended with Iceberg saying if the title isn't handed over to Jackson then he will absolutely see to it that he gets his rematch at Fright Night on October 30th. Jackson stood face to face with Shatter in a truly electric moment has he gave the belt back, making it clear he was doing so because he was a man of honor as two of the biggest stars NWA Anarchy has ever had faced off briefly before both cautiously headed their separate ways.

Notes:
NWA Anarchy for several months has been in a rebuilding period. With many of the companies top stars moving on to other arenas, the future of the company has been clouded in doubt. If the 2010 Benefactor Cup event is any indication, those concerns can begin to be put to rest. Many of the young talents are stepping up and filling the shoes of those who've left and the fans believe in them, and it couldn't have come at a better time. Anarchy returns for another TV taping on October 2nd and the next big event with Fright Night on October 30th. Big week for the former Hollywood Brunettes with Andrew Alexander being crowned tag team champion and his former partner Kyle Matthews heading to Japan for the Zero One promotion in October. It's also rumored that a couple of Anarchy stars will be debuting in Ring Of Honor in December & January. NWA Championship Wrestling from
Chattanooga debuts 11/26 featuring Judas, Tank, Tempers, The Hate Junkies, Wilson, Hollis, Alexander, in addition to former Arena stars like Ace Rockwell, Adam Jacobs & Jessco Blue. Rev. Dan Wilson ties the knot on October 23rd to his longtime fiance in Knoxville, TN. Former NWA Wildside camera crew member & southern indy ambassador David Pierce was backstage filming promos for the Chattanooga event.

WWU/NWA Anarchy Results from Commerce, GA Sept 19 by LARRY GOODMAN

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

World Wrestling Union/NWA Anarchy results from Commerce, Ga at the Atlanta Dragway. Lane Vasser & Jacob Ashworth & Johnny Dangerously beat Juan Garcia & Mini Marvelous & Raymond King in an elimination tag with Vasser pinning King at the end; Nigel Sherrod beat Paul Warfield; A.R. Fox beat Logan; Nation vs. Curry Kid morphed into Curry Kid & Jonathan Gresham over Nation & Ric King; Donnie Steamboat beat Slim J.

NOTES: The wrestling show started with a crowd of over 100 and dwindled down after the first match. There were several hundred people milling around the grounds. Hard to say how many because they were so spread out. Anarchy came on board as a casual co-promoter of the event. This event was as about casual as it gets. Bill Behrens and Chris Long pieced this spottiest of spot shows together at the last possible moments. The conditions were pretty harsh for an outdoor event --- Blazing sun and temps in the low 90s. No chairs set up. A trailer and the ring truck for dressing rooms…Jerry Palmer was there primarily to scout for talent and in that sense, he hit the jackpot. Expect to see several wrestlers that came from the WWU side of the equation on Anarchy shows…I didn’t realize how much size Vasser had or how limited his experience was until today. He’s a chiseled 6-4, a high school wrestling champion with athletic talent to burn, and only 6 months in the business. And he has Slim J as a teacher, His brother is Georgia Bulldogs reserve linebacker Chase Vasser…Donnie Steamboat is another guy to keep an eye on. I was told he claims kinship to Sam, but in some ways, he looks more like Ricky than the biological son. The undersized heels in the opener came in with Steamboat. Physically speaking, Mini has no business being in the ring, but his love for pro wrestling shines through…Ditto Curry Kid. A skinny black kid dong Curry Man that is all heart...Referees were Rob Russo and Ken Wallace. Duke Korey from PCW was helping with production.

Additional Anarchy/WWU Notes

Brodie Chase score the pinfall In the quarterfinal match vs. Seth Delay's hand picked team, N*Style, thus earning a shot a Delay's TV Title at Fright Night on October 30...Hate Junkies are booked for the Wrestling for a Cause events in Ocoee, Fl on September 25 and Kissimmee on September 26...Ryan Michaels was at the WWU event. He's recovering from elbow surgery...The Jason Cross/Adams Jacobs match announced for the WWU show didn't happen because Jacobs had a conflicting booking in Nashville

Women's World Title Match set at NWA-SW

NWA Southwest owner/commissioner Ken Taylor announced August 29, that LaRenia will represent NWA-SW in facing NWA Women's World champion Tasha Simone on October 2nd, on the campus of Western Oklahoma State College in Altus, Oklahoma.

Taylor said this would mark only the second time since 2002 that NWA-SW has hosted a Women's Word title match, which Texan Char Starr won over Madison in Corpus Christi. He cited LaRenia's dedication to the sport of wrestling for the past five years and being trained for a year professionally under NWA legend Tom Jones in Oklahoma City, and still training with him weekly, as qualfied to get the shot.

"This is an opportunity few ever get in this business, so LaRenia now has an opportunity to represent NWA Southwest and make her mark, but she'll have 18 years of professional experience to overcome in champion who is known to be ruthless and hardcore," said Taylor.

NWA VINTAGE PRO RESULTS

Millennium Skate World, Camden, NJ Sunday September 12

NWA Vintage Pro made its debut this past Sunday before a small but loud group of fans in Camden, NJ. Doing battle against the Eagles and an already packed wrestling weekend, NWA Vintage Pro pulled out a great opening show for those in attendance.

The opening match saw Niles Young against Johnny Gargano. Young offered his hand to Gargano in a supposed show of Italian Paisano friendship but of course it was merely a ruse to gain the advantage. The contest saw a lot of back and forth between the two but in the end, Gargano went down to the evil shenanigans of Young.

Next up saw the true comedy match highlight of the year as Greg Excellent took on Johnny Calzone, the wild and crazy Pizza Guy. If you are into just all out hilarious shtick in your wrestling, this match is worth the price of a DVD alone. Those who missed this missed probably the best laughs they would have had in decades. Highlights included both men crashing to the canvas and the force of that crash knocking referee Jimmy Clydesdale straight up through the ropes and out of the ring. To “make up” for their unathletic show in the ring, both men chose to show off their athletic prowess by having a footrace to the concession stand. The sight of Calzone trying desperately to clear the skating rinks waist high wall and then getting stuck there had the crowd roaring with laughter. After more hilarious hijinks ensued, Excellent took it home with the win.

The next match was a four way featuring Justin Roberts, Problem Child, Tommy Force and NWA Dawg Pound Champion Chance Prophet. Prophet brought a skull to the ring with him that he claimed was his uncle. He spoke to his uncle for advice before the match until one of the other three decided to insult his uncle. This started a great four way mix-up that occasionally spilled out to the floor with some hard hitting action from all involved. After taking a terrific beating on the floor, Prophet made his way back and scored the pin to win the match.

Out next was Gregory Irons. For those who haven’t seen Irons work, he is legit handicapped and a very personable young man. As he made his way around the ring, the crowd was definitely with him. When his opponent was announced as Whacks, the crowd expected a tough but fair match. But something seems to have happened to Whacks since we last saw him work in this area. The first words out of his mouth were an insult to the handicapped as well as commenting about Clydesdale’s height…or lack there of. From that point, things just turned into a savage beat down on Irons. After getting the pinfall after a brutal tackle, Whacks came over to me, took my cane and began to choke Irons with it ranting about Irons being handicapped.

Next up was a tag team contest between The Spanish Armada and the Runaways (Joe Gacy and Ryan Slater). After an array of insults fired across the Armada’s bow, Gacy and Slater took it to them and sunk their fleet. Slater was literally covered in rope burns from being thrown with such force into the ropes in this tag war

And then it was time for the Man. Nick Gage. Facing Facade. We all knew where this was going.. Out of the ring. And Gage failed to disappoint. Over the guardrails and out into the crowd. Chair shots and crushing back blows into the skating rink’s cement retaining wall. And when all was said and done, chalk up another victim…I mean victory to Nick Gage.

The main event saw two men capable of brawling and wrestling in Sami Callihan and Sabian. The craziness of Callihan was apparent immediately as he carried the oversize reindeer head of the skating rinks mascot to the ring. Issuing his challenge to Sabian while wearing the head was just part of the insanity of this match which later saw a Tweety Bird Head brought to the ring. This lead to some posing with Clydesdale wearing the head follow by a face-off between both wrestlers wearing the heads. After an array of hard hitting and fast action, the BLK Jeez Sabian came out on top. Never one to turn down the chance, Sabian made his way over to ringside to admire a few of the ladies’ physical attributes as Callihan stalked to the back.

A return is planned for late October so keep your eyes out for further information on this new hot promotion.
