ASW BLACK FRIDAY RESULTS
By Alan Wojcik on 11/28/2010 10:14 AM
On November 26th All Stars Wrestling of Florida gave the fans relief for Black Friday with the weekly Full Throttle event at Strokers Billiards, 11236 W. Hillsborough Ave. in Tampa, Florida.
(1) Super Grover defeated “Handsome” Jason Handley.
This was a rematch from last week’s event where Grover came out victorious. Grover came out aggressive but got levelled by several bodyshots including a standing body block. Handley used the ropes and other items to choke out Grover as the referee demanded a clean match. Handley yelled at Grover, “You’re going to embarrass me.” But Grover got the last laugh when he cut off Handley climbing the ropes and scored a school boy style roll for the win.
After the match Handley shoved the referee and then attacked Grover locking him the Rear Naked Choke as referees and ASW security jumped in the ring. Grover was helped to the back as his partner “Dancing Machine” Bobby Fonta came out for his match. To the shock of many Fonta seemed to ignore Grover completely.
(2) In a triple threat match, ASW Florida Elite champion “Dancing Machine” Bobby Fonta defeated former champion Biff Slater of the FXE and Kennedy Kendrick (w/Camey Kendrick)
This match came out from last week’s Kendrick/Fonta title match that saw Slater save Fonta from additional beating. The match began with Slater & Fonta actually working together to eliminate Kendrick from the match. Once Kendrick slid to the floor to have a confab with Camey, Slater & Fonta got down to business. That ended when Kendrick tripped up Fonta, dragged him to the floor and drove him into the ringpost. Kendrick took over on Slater but Slater reversed a corner whip and followed with a clothesline and suplex. The subsequent pin was stopped by Fonta who took over on Kendrick only to see his momentum stopped by Kendrick who was then cut off by Slater and a clothesline. Slater took over on both men but had suplex countered by Fonta into a two count. Fonta pulled off a bulldog of Slater and a clothesline of Kendrick getting two. Slater hit Kendrick with a spinebuster but Fonta hit Slater with a superkick that allowed Fonta to pin Kendrick to retain.
After the match Slater and Fonta had some words and it looked like they left it all in the ring.
Before the next match Roman Wright came out but he was not dressed to compete. Wright said he was not going to take on Rick Roberts. Wright said he was ready to explain why he turned his back on the fans; the reason was the tutelage of “the Icon” Thomas Marr. Marr told the fans that Roman Wright has been held down by ASW management for several weeks. Marr said now that he was in ASW no one was going to hold down Wright ever again. Marr reiterated there would not be a Roberts vs. Wright match this evening. Marr dubbed the new pairing the Impact Players.
(3) “Hard Body” Rick Roberts defeated Roman Wright via countout after Commissioner Don Vincent demanded referee JW Anderson start the match.
(4) ASW Tag Team champions “Pretty Boy” Gu$ Money & “the Prodigy” Mike Cruz of the FXE defeated Misled Youth (Shawn Prime & Josh Rayne)
Jude MacKenzie was conspicuous by his absence and it was noticeable in the opening minutes of the match where the FXE dominated the bout. As Prime was getting beat down the World’s Largest All Nighters (Shooter Storm & Joey Knight) came out to the stage area to watch the match. Cruz went up to the second rope but Rayne grabbed his ankle long enough to allow Prime time to get to his feet and slam Cruz off to the mat. Prime and Rayne got their act together and made several well timed tags working over Cruz as the fans surprisingly cheer him on. Prime locked in a submission but Cruz fought to his feet only to be back dropped to the canvas. During this portion of the match the NuYoRicans (Ramos & Rivera) made their way out to ringside to watch as well. Somehow Cruz fought out of a Bear Hug and made a tag but Rayne had the referee fully occupied to miss seeing it. The double teaming and Misled Youth domination kept going until Prime got a bit cocky and when he went to get Cruz out of the corner, he got tagged with an enziguri that allowed Money to finally tag in and clean house. As Money went to work on Rayne, Cruz dropkicked Prime to the floor setting up a double team slingshot suplex for two. The Misled Youth came back with back to back double team moves but they couldn’t put away the FXE. Prime got dumped to the floor and it allowed the FXE to take out Rayne with back to back top rope moves.
After the match the FXE and NuYoRicans had a heated exchange that was broken up by ASW security.
(5) In the 3rd instalment of “I’ll Make You Famous” challenge, Francisco Ciatso defeated Wayne Van Dyke.
Ciatso jumped Van Dyke during the referee pat down taking it to the floor. Ciatso tagged Van Dyke with back chops before coming back in the ring. Van Dyke got in a couple of armdrags but his evening ended when he missed a second rope cross body that was followed by the dreaded K5. After the bell Ciatso kept beating on Van Dyke. Just a note, Ciatso never took off his jacket and hat during the match.
(6) In a rematch, the Highwaymen (Marc Mandrake, Donnie York & Butch Long w/Ferrari) defeated the Uprising (“Essential” Eric Cooper & “Infamous” Eddie Taurus with special guest timekeeper, “the Emerald Emperor” Simon Sez.
Having Sez near the match was down right dangerous for all involved. Cooper took the house mic to complain about something but Sez rang the bell so loud he nearly drowned out Cooper. The Uprising went right to work tagging Mandrake with several high impact moves. That ended when Mandrake avoided a double team move by kicking both men in the chest. Long tagged in and went to work on Cooper with the Stump Puller and facebuster for two. With Ferrari and York cheering them on, the Highwaymen took over for several minutes. That ended when Cooper was able to get Long isolated from his corner and tag in a rested Taurus. The Uprising spent the next some alone time with Long despite objections from the rest of the Highwaymen and the fans. Taurus made a huge tactical error letting his ego get ahead of him and Long paid by avoiding a corner move. It allowed Mandrake to tag in and go to work. But the Uprising had Mandrake in their hands after dumping Long to the floor. They hit a double team move on Mandrake but before the referee could count three, Sez rang the bell saying the time limit had expired. The action in the ring stopped as the referee looked for an answer. The confusion allowed the Highwaymen time to recover and win via a school boy roll.
After the match all hell broke loose as the Uprising said they were tired of Sez’s game and demanded a match next week. Sez was held back by the ASW security. But as this went on the Misled Youth ran out and attacked the Highwaymen dragging them all around ringside. Commissioner Don Vincent tried to restore some order using security and the ASW referees.
(7) ASW Heavyweight champion Aaron Kanye Epic defeated the 7 Ft Titan via DQ.
Epic felt cocky so as the bell rang he told Titan to “lay down for me.” That went over like a lead balloon and Epic bailed to the floor. Epic finally got in the ring and was tossed around the ring like he was Titan’s toy. Epic tried chest chops but that only made a dent, the chop from Titan echoed out onto Hillsborough Avenue and sent Epic to the floor for some alone time. The problem arose as epic came back to the ring, he couldn’t get Titan off his feet. Kicks to the thighs and punches to the head did nothing. Titan hit another chest chop that sent Epic to the canvas. Epic avoided an elbow drop and hit a running knee but Titan’s kickout sent Epic flying across the ring. Titan recovered but missed a running boot to the corner that allowed Epic to hit a second rope elbow to Titan’s chest for two. Titan went for the chokeslam but Epic spit water in the referee’s eyes. Epic picked up the championship belt and in true Eddie Guerrero tossed it to Titan. When the referee cleared his eyes all he saw was Titan holding the belt and Epic “knocked out” so he called for the bell and awarded the match to Epic.
(8) In a no DQ Strap Match, Damien Angel defeated Don Maximo of the FXE.
After beating each other up for several weeks with no resolve, Commissioner Don Vincent created this main event hoping to settle things once and for all. At the opening bell Angel was the aggressor using the strap first on Maximo’s back. Maximo retreated to the floor but with Angel attached he couldn’t go far. Angel had to jump over the top rope to land on Maximo without getting the strap caught up in the ropes. Angel kept tagging Maximo with the strap until a low blow stopped that. Maximo exacted some revenge by layering the strap before attacking Angel. The match finally came back to the ring where Maximo used the strap to try and win via chokeout. Angel tried to fight back but Maximo kneed him in the gut and dumped Angel over the ropes into a hangman situation. Maximo dragged Angel into the ring for a two count pin attempt. Angel fought back but his second rope splash was countered into spinebuster like move for two. Angel hit Maximo with several clotheslines and a bodyblock but it did nothing as Maximo hit a double handed choke into a sitout bomb for two. Angel slowed down Maximo with two low blows to the family jewels and followed with a spear for two. Angel followed with a second spear and went up top hitting the Frog Splash to get the hard fought victory.
