DPW PRESENTS “FAMIGLIA – A TRIBUTE TO MIKE E. MILANOâ€
By Joseph J. Alexander on 1/27/2011 9:54 AM
On Saturday January 29, 2001 we at Defiant Pro wrestling will pay tribute to the man who created a company with little more than a vision of bringing quality wrestling to the masses in his own unique way, Michael Miele, a.k.a. Mike E Milano. Wrestlers and personalities from the past and present roster of DPW will be in attendance on this night to pay homage to our mentor and friend. This event will take place at the Cheshire Parks and Recreation Department’s Harmon Leonard Jr. Youth Center located at 559 South Main Street in Cheshire, CT (located next to Cheshire High School.)
Already scheduled for this event :
Lenn Oddity vs. Big Jim Sullivan - NO HOLD BARRED
Oddity and Sullivan have had one the most violent and bloody feuds in the indy wrestling scene over the past few years, and it all began at The Proving Grounds Dojo in Waterbury, CT. From thumbtacks to flaming tables to no-rope barbwire matches, these two men have brutalized each other to no end. On this night, the feud is revived, for one last encounter. No one knows the level of carnage that will ensue.
Chris Mooch vs. “The Shaft” Bobby Ocean – A Rivalry Reborn
In the early days of DPW, two young rookies came to Mike Milano looking to make an impact. For the better part of the next year, they proved themselves to Mike, and to the fans, by wrestling each other in the pre-shows and opening matches of numerous Defiant events at the Portuguese Club in Naugatuck, CT. In the following years both men gained success in DPW – Mooch becoming the first ever DPW Televison Champion and later on becoming Heavyweight Champion, and Ocean winning the DPW Tag Team Championship with partner Guillaume De Sade, as well as holding the Television championship himself on one occasion. On this fateful night, these men lock up once more in honor of the man who gave them a chance to shine.
Nocturne vs. Brendan Michael Thomas
In their last encounter, Nocturne defeated BMT to unify the DPW Television and Cruiserweight titles. Since then, BMT has been waiting to get another shot at The Lurking Horror. When these two lucha-style wrestlers square off once again, will we witness the same outcome, or will The Prince of Pink emerge victorious? Only time will tell.
Slyck Wagner Brown vs. Jose Perez vs. “Straight Edge” Brian Fury – Three Way Dance
Since the early days of Defiant Pro Wrestling, many wrestlers strived to become heavyweight champion. Of these three men, only Slyck Wagner Brown has been able to obtain that goal. Perez and Fury have both been perennial number 1 contenders over the years, but have always given their all to the fans of DPW. On this night, these 3 technical masters lock horns for nothing more than bragging rights, and the respect of the DPW fans.
Also scheduled for the nights event, a women’s gauntlet match and an over the top rope battle royal.
