NWS Internet News Update For Week Of 02/14

Worms Triumph Over Brains, Two New NWS Champions, Sean Waltman Makes NWS Debut This Weekend, More March Show Details, And More

Hello NWS fans! This is your weekly update on what's happened, what is happening now, and what is going to happen soon in the nation's leading family-friendly pro wrestling promotion, National Wrestling Superstars.

Upcoming Shows This Weekend

This Friday night February 18th, NWS returns to Carteret, NJ at the Divine Mercy/Holy Family Parish Hall (213 Pershing Avenue, across from the Post Office, minutes from the NJ Turnpike), with a 7:45pm bell time.
Pro wrestling fans in the Carteret, NJ area eagerly await NWS' annual pro wrestling spectacular, but at this year's show, they will get much more than they could have ever imagined, as making his first-ever NWS appearance will be the one and only Sean Waltman (the former X-Pac and The 1-2-3 Kid in WWE, Syxx in WCW, and recently Syxx-Pac in TNA) will greet the fans, then don the tights and climb into the ring against the dangerous veteran wrestling star from the Carteret area, Steve "Monsta" Mack.
But Waltman won't be the only TV star the fans will recognize that night. The lovely former WCW diva (and valet to Randy "Macho Man" Savage) Gorgeous George will make her return to NWS after a long absence. And former WWE & WCW fan-favorite "America's Hero" The Patriot will also don the tights in Carteret as he teams with the popular Damien Darling as "Team USA" in a two-on-three handicap match against the trio known as "The Sicilian Mob" (Johnny Knockout & Don Caruso & Richard Michaels). Other regional and local pro mat stars in action this Friday night include NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans, "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie, Jumping Joey Janela, "Atomic Dog" Ali, Corvis Fear, and Chris Steeler. There will also be a special ladies bout, and an appearance by Carteret Little League's Coach Angelo as a special guest manager. Tickets are only $19 for adults and $16 for kids and seniors.

This Saturday night February 19th, NWS makes its annual return to the Bloomfield, NJ High School Gym (160 Broad Street, minutes from the Parkway), with a 7:35pm bell time.
It's always a huge crowd, lots of excitement, and plenty of bone-jarring action when NWS makes their annual return to Bloomfield, but this year's extravanganza may be the most exciting one yet, as topping the bill will be former WWE RAW TV star Snitsky. The man who made a career out of saying "It's not my fault!" when bad things happened to his opponents, will take on northeast veteran wrestler Danny Inferno in a match that was invented by NWS and seems tailor-made for a pair of brawlers, a "Loser Goes Through A Door Match", where, as the name implies, you must smash your opponent through a wooden door in order to win.
In addition to smashed-up doors, the fans should be on the lookout for both torn-up turnbuckles and hilarious hijinx, as the turnbuckle-eating  green-tongued former WWE star George "The Animal" Steele will be on the prowl in Bloomfield, as well as the comical and equally unpredictable Famous TV Wrestling Clown. Another matchup that the fans are looking forward to is a huge six-person inter-gender tag-team match. And "huge" is a major understatement, as in one corner will be the 900-pound undefeated Nigerian Nightmares and their wrestling manager Voodoo Princess Sheeta. In the other corner will be another super-heavyweight in the 400+ pound "Baghdad Bully" Saddam Insane, and his partners Smith James and upstart lady wrestler Niya. We hope that the wrestling ring, and perhaps even the gymnasium floor itself, are heavily reinforced for this nearly one ton of wrestling mayhem. And speaking of tag-team action, the immensely popular NWS Tag-Team Champions The Jersey Shore Jocks (Mike Dennis & Chris D'Andrea) will defend their titles against their arch-rivals Hot And Dangerous ("Too Hot" Steve Scott & Nick Talent). Other regional and local pro mat stars coming to Bloomfield include NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans, Combat Zone Wrestling star Spyral, Devon Moore, Jumping Joey Janela, "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie, Steve "Rampage" Rogers, plus a special ladies bout, an appearance by Bloomfield native and former NWS Heavyweight Champion Vicious Vinny as a special guest referee, and much more. Tickets are only $25 for a limited number of Golden Ringside seats and $20 for grandstand & bleacher seats.Tickets for this weekend's show are still available by calling the NWS box office at (732) 888-1704. All major charge cards are accepted, and group rates are available for groups of ten or more. Remaining seats, if any, will go on sale at the door oe hour before bell time.

Results From Last Weekend

There are those who believe you cannot argue with success, and success must be the last word in NWS as once again, they sold out the Union, NJ Elks Lodge, this time on Friday night, February 11th and NWS management is hoping the streak continues with nearly a dozen shows scheduled between now and the end of April. Friday night’s crowd was full of electricity from the opening bell.
    • The opening contest saw "The White Urkel" B. Fehrm take on the returning Ryan Angus. Angus came to the ring with his own management team of Chris Steeler and Judas Young while Ferm had his own manager, Mighty Mike-E-G from the Union Elks. Fehrm surprised Angus (and everyone else in the building) by mounting a strong offensive but with Steeler and Young outside, it was Angus who was able to score the victory.
    • The next bout saw J.D. Smoothie and Corvis Fear team to take on the popular duo of Cannonball and Snake Eyes. The bout was originally supposed to be Cannonball and Hillbilly Justin Blackwell, but due to personal matters, Snake Eyes took Blackwell’s spot. Cannonball used his size to overpower the opposition, and Snake Eyes used his speed, but with the referee’s back turned double teamed the smaller Snake Eyes who was pinned. Cannonball visibly upset at the loss, went to help his partner but instead attacked him until security came in to hold him back. Commissioner Gino Moore asked what was wrong with them and Cannonball told the crowd he was tired of being teamed with bums and losers and was going to go to the top.  Commissioner Moore said "Ok, so how about we start by signing a match when we come back to Union County in May between you two. Oh, and by the way, we have a special guest referee in the likes of Justin Blackwell."
    • Match #3 was a match for the NWS Tag-Team Championship and featured Judas Young and Chris Steeler, this time accompanied to the ring by Ryan Angus, taking on champions Chris D’Andrea and Mike Dennis, known as the Jersey Shore Jocks. This bout was all over the place as Steeler and Young seemed to be on the verge of winning the belts, but somehow, Mike and Chirs came back and had Steeler down for the pin. As Chris went for the pin, Mike pulled him off and said it was his victory. Then Chris pulled Mike off and they argued. Finally, they told the referee to flip a coin and Chris won and was able to pin Chris Steeler. Mike, obviously upset, pushed his partner away and walked to the locker room area.
    • Match #4 was a Union County Strap Match and featured Union’s Steve Gipke taking on Kenilworth’s Tony Scorace. The two used the strap and beat each other unmercifully and both tried touching the four corners to win the bout several times, and both coming up short. Finally, they were both touching corners when Gipke reached the fourth turnbuckle right before Scorace for the win. Next time these two meet will be in a Lumberjack Match to settle there differances.
    • Match #5 saw the team of Nick Talent and "Too Hot" Steve Scott take on Mister Nick Gregory and Paco Libro. Another high flying bout with both teams giving 110% and showed that they both are expert in tag team matches. Gregory teased Talent by trying a test of strength, but Talent couldn’t reach the taller Gregory’s hands but Talent raked the eyes and it became ten minutes of back and forth action. The referee was again distracted and Scott hit a Lung Blower on Libro and Talent followed up with a Flatliner for the win.
    • The main event saw the NWS debut of Marty Wright (formerly known as the Boogey Man) take on another one time TV personality, from the ECW when it appeared on the SyFy Channel, the Zombie. The announcer said "This match follows in the tradition of Freddy vs Jason, Alien vs Preditor and now it’s Zombie vs Boogieman". The two battled all over the building and even outside before going back into the ring where Wright (aka Boogie) pinned the Zombie. After the pin, out came the worms and the crowd went crazy when Zombie got a mouthful.
Saturday night February 12th, NWS returned to Keyport, NJ's St. Joseph's Church Gym, and another near-capacity crowd surrounded the ring and spilled into the bleachers to cheer on another night of hot NWS action.
    • NWS Commissioner Gino Moore announced that in addition to the "Brains Vs. Worms Round II" main event, there would be three NWS title matches tonight. To assist him in case things got out of hand, he announced that he had appointed a Co-Commissioner for the evening... none other than former WWE & WCW star "America's Hero" The Patriot.
    • In a three-way elimination match for the vacant NWS Cruiserweight Title, CZW star Spyral defeated former champions "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie and Jumping Joey Janella to capture his first title in NWS. The four-month NWS rookie kept pace with the two veterans in a match that saw action in and out of the ring. Smoothie was the first to be eliminated... after Spyral threw Smoothie off the corner when Smoothie was attempting a superplex, Janela took advantage of the fallen Smoothie and hit a moonsault from the top rope and pinned him 1-2-3. Spyral tried to take advantage of Janela celebrating his pinfall by bringing a chair into the ring, but Janela ducked the chair shot and leveled Spyral with a roundhouse kick. He then went up to the top rope for a flying cross-body, but Spyral caught him and placed him upside down in the corner. After hitting him with a chair, Spyral placed he chair against Janela's face, went to the opposite top rope, and hit a devastating Van Terminator dropkick against the chair and Janela's head, followed by the 1-2-3. As Spyral celebrated with his new title belt, Commissioner Moore reminded him that there was a rematch clause in the contract, and that rematch would take place in Old Bridge, NJ in March. Both Smoothie and Janela asserted that they deserve the rematch challenge, but Spyral said he would be happy to take them both on, and the match was set.
    • In a return grudge match, Shock (with manager Rotten Ralph) defeated Michael Reigns (with St. Joe's baseball coach Patty C.). The two big men picked up their feud right where it had left off, with a hard-pounding match. When Reigns appeared to have the upper hand and was headed for the victory, Ralph attacked Patty C, drawing Reigns' attention away just long enough for Shock to recover and hit Reigns with a powerbomb to get the 1-2-3.
    • In the second title match of the night, Steve "Rampage" Rogers (formerly known as Skitzo) defeated Ray Ray Marz to beome the *NEW* NWS Heavyweight Champion. After pursuing the title for nearly a year, Rogers finally made good as his power matched up with the champion's speed. It initially looked like Marz would retain the belt, as he hit a flying Thesz press on Rogers followed by a series of leg kicks. But Rogers ducked underneath Marz' running knee finisher, and planted Marz into the mat with an inverted F-5, followed by the 1-2-3 pin. As Rogers celebrated, Marz shook hands in a show of sportsmanship, but reminded Rogers that this title match contract also had a return clause. Commissioner Moore announced that the return match of Rogers vs. Marz would take place in South Amboy, NJ in late March.
    • "The Outlaw" Shane O'Brien came out for his match against Jon Justice, but Commissioner Moore announced that Justice had car troubles and was not there. Rather than allow O'Brien to win by forfeit without wrestling, Moore went into the back to get him a replacement opponent and out came Co-Commissioner "America's Hero" The Patriot (who was fortunate enough to have brought his wrestling gear along). The two waged a heated battle inside and outside the ring, but despite Outlaw's toughness, his veteran opponent eventually triumphed, as Patriot chokeslammed Outlaw and got the 1-2-3.
    • In the third title match of the night, NWS Tag-Team Champions The Jersey Shore Jocks (with St. Joe's baseball coach Patty C.) avoided the sweep of title changes and retained their belts against challengers "Corrupted" Corey Havoc & "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans (with manager Rotten Ralph). Havoc, a former Heavyweight Champion, and Oceans, the current Junior Heavyweight Champion and a former tag-team champion himself, took the fight to the Jocks. The match spilled outside the ring and over by the bleachers, where Mike Dennis made an unbelievable flying cross-body all the way up from the bleachers to take out Havoc and Oceans. The match continued back in the ring with lots of action and countless near-falls by both teams. After D'Andrea broke up Oceans' "Boom-Boom-Pow" finisher attempt on Oceans and planted him into the mat with a Jackhammer, it appeared that The Jocks would get the victory right there, but Rotten Ralph jumped onto the ring apron to distract the referee. This brought Patty C. onto the opposite ring apron, and while the referee and The Jocks were conversing with Patty C., Ralph slipped Havoc and Oceans a pair of chains, and when The Jocks turned around, Havoc and Oceans leveled The Jocks behind the referee's back. The referee turned around and saw Oceans and Havoc covering The Jocks and counted 1-2-3, giving Havoc and Oceans the apparent victory. But before Havoc and Oceans could celebrate their new titles, out came Co-Commissioner The Patriot, who told the referee what had happened and ordered the match to be restarted. The Jocks were revived by this time, and took down the stunned Havoc and Oceans with twin bulldogs followed by twin "Coast To Coast" flying splashes and the 1-2-3 to retain their belts.
    • In the Main Event, "Brains Vs. Worms Round II", worms proved superior once again as former WWE star The Boogieman defeated former ECW star The Zombie. The seemingly fearless Zombie seemed reluctant at first to get in the ring with Boogieman once again, but the match eventually started, and almost immediately spilled out to the outside. The two fought all over the arena and even upstairs into the unused area of the bleacher seats, with both men using chairs, garbage cans, and anything else within their grasp. After both men tried unsuccessfully to pitch their opponents off the bleachers, they eventually fought their way back down to the arena floor and back into the ring. They continued their brawl in the ring back and forth, but referee Sargeant Jimmy Storm appeared to have some sort of grudge against Boogieman (either that or he just hated worms), as he counted Zombie's pin attempts noticeably fast and Boogieman's pin attempts noticeably slow. Boogieman took offense at this and went after Storm in the corner. Zombie tried to take advantage and attacked Boogieman, but Zombie's attempt to finish off Boogieman with a flying moonsault failed when Boogieman ducked out of the way. Boogieman then hit a twin chokeslam on both Zombie and Storm, knocking them both out. St. Joe's baseball coach Patty C. ran down to the ring, took off Jimmy Storm's referee shirt and put it on himself (which apparently made him a referee), and counted the 1-2-3 for The Boogieman. Boogieman then cemented his victory as only he does, giving a faceful of live worms to both Zombie and Storm with the crowd cheering him on as the show closed.
