3/11 ASW RESULTS FROM TAMPA, FL

By Alan Wojcik on 3/12/2011 11:45 AM

After a successful “Best of the Best” event in Orlando, ASW Florida made its return to Stroker’s Billiards, 11236 Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa, FL.

The evening was opened by an appearance from “the Infamous” Eddie Taurus who was solo thanks to “the Essential” Eric Cooper’s career ending loss on Saturday. Taurus addressed the severity of last weekend on the Uprising. Taurus called out the fans, ASW Commissioner Don Vinnie and the FXE for Cooper’s absence. Taurus called Don Vinnie to the ring wanting to know his ulterior motives as ASW Commissioner. Taurus called out his opponent tonight, “Real Deal” Mike Cruz, saying he wouldn’t compete unless Vinnie reinstated Cooper. Don Vinnie said compete or join Cooper on the sidelines.

(1) Roman Wright defeated Leo Gold.
After a good showing in the Kendrick Elite battle royal, Wright was ready to get closer to title contention. Wright told Gold before the bell to shake hands and walk away before he got hurt. Gold shook hands and then ducked a clothesline, hitting one of his own and getting a rollup for two. Wright fought back with punches but got hit with a shoulder tackle. Wright slid to the floor for some alone time but Gold did a baseball slide to the outside hitting Wright. On the floor Wright got control slamming Gold’s face into the ring apron and the ring post. Referee JW Anderson had to slide to the floor to try and get both competitors back in before the ten count. The action finally came back to the ring where Wright worked into a Camel Clutch. But Gold refused to submit and somehow got to his feet driving Wright’s back into the buckles. Wright and Gold traded punches but Wright hit a Beal for two. Gold fought back hitting a sidewalk slam and got two. But Wright ended the evening with a running boot to the side of Gold’s head.

(2) Deathrow Jethro defeated “Havana Sensation” Romeo Kaveo.
This was the return of the former ASW Florida Heavyweight champion in several months, too bad he returned against Jethro. Once the shackles came off Jethro went on the attack but thanks to some maneuvering, Jethro ended up on the floor where Romeo followed. But once back in the ring, Romeo missed a top rope bodyblock. But he fired back with boots to Jethro’s stomach only to miss a dropkick. Jethro didn’t miss a legdrop for two and locked in a rear chinlock. Romeo fought to his feet as Jethro switched to a nerve hold and a choke on the ropes. But Romeo fought back with several kicks to Jethro’s head and upper body to get two. Jethro recovered to lock in another chinlock and this time Romeo was pulled back to the mat via his hair. Jethro went up but missed a twisting splash from the second rope. Romeo covered for two but had to struggle to get to his feet. But once he got there he went on the offensive with high impact moves. But Jethro hit a jawbreaker and neckbreaker for two. Both men fought to get control of the contest on the top rope and it was Romeo sending Jethro crashing to the mat with headbutts. But Romeo missed a moonsault and Jethro couldn’t capitalize when Romeo reversed a move. But Romeo refused to back out of the corner when the referee asked him to and Jimmie Mac was elbowed. When Romeo went to apologize to the official, Jethro snuck up and locked in the Green Mile choke. Somehow Romeo refused to submit and fought to his feet. But when Romeo went to slam Jethro, Jethro got control of the hold once more and this time Romeo couldn’t survive. The ASW security immediately hit the ring to relock Jethro into his shackles before he could do any further harm to Romeo or the fans.

The new ASW Florida Tag Team champions Tha NuYoRicnaz made their way out to speak with ASW Chain Reaction’s Sean LaFlash. The NYR spoke about the lack of respect the ASW fans have given them the last few months and now they controlled the scene in ASW. Ramos said he wanted to thank Don Kiko Cavana for “looking out for his boys” and D. Lee for his support. They thanked him by having Don Kiko hit Lee right in the juevos and the NYR laid him out with the championship belts. Ramos said D. Lee’s services were no longer needed and he then brought out the new financial backer for the NYR, “Gentleman” Joe Litrell. Litrell said he achieved step one in taking the power back from the FXE. Litrell called out his “American Nightmare” to clean up the trash in the ring.

(3) “American Nightmare” John Allen defeated D. Lee.
With Lee already severely beaten by the NYR, it was only a mater of time before the referee stepped in. Allen hit a suplex on the floor and a piledriver in the ring to win via pinfall.

(4) Aaron Kanye Epic defeated “1st Generation Star” Teigan James.
Sad to say Epic was without his beloved ASW Florida Heavyweight championship belt, having lost to Biff Slater at “Best of the Best.” After being brought out to as many nicknames as Apollo Creed, Epic finally locked up with James. James didn’t care for the attitude change from Epic and took it to the former champion. But Epic sidestepped a kick and hit a back suplex. Epic laid in the chokes but James fired back with chest chops. Epic hit a leg lariat for two but his Rude Awakening was countered into one by James who followed with several high impact moves. But Epic hit the Kiss of Death kick to cut off the 1st Generation’s evening plans.

(5) “The Infamous” Eddie Taurus defeated “Real Deal” Mike Cruz of the FXE.
Before the match Taurus spotted Jay Lethal in the crowd and yelled “it’s your fault Eric’s not here!!” Taurus should have focused on Cruz who hit several armdrags. Taurus slid to the floor but Cooper was not there to confer on strategy. Taurus paced the ring and Don Vinnie reminded him, “finish the match or you’re gone from ASW.” Taurus got back in only to be sent back to the floor after Cruz hit several kicks. Cruz followed him out with a top rope bodyblock and returned to the ring in total control. But Taurus got a knee to the ribs and that slowed down “the Real Deal.” Taurus used the standing suplex to work over the ribs and the ringpost didn’t hurt either. Taurus locked in an abdominal stretch but Cruz fought out but was taken down when his springboard knee to the face was blocked and Taurus dropped Cruz on his knee. Taurus went for the end but got hit with a head scissor. Cruz went on the offense hitting Taurus with punches, kicks, chops and other moves getting several two counts. Cruz hit a Rude Awakening for two but Taurus fought back only to be hit with a springboard kick for two. Cruz went up top again but Taurus cut him off hitting the Brick Street Drop to get two. Cruz hit a huricurana for two but Taurus got the last move by countering a sunset flip into a pin of his own, using the ropes for leverage.

(6) ASW Florida Elite champion “the Great” Kennedy Kendrick (w/Camey) defeated Josh Rayne.
This match went longer than the notes but Rayne hit so many moves it was hard to keep up. Kendrick appeared to take Rayne lightly and he paid with several Lucha styles moves. But Camey got the referee’s attention and Kendrick got control. Only to see Rayne fight back with a high energy offense including a springboard moonsault for two. Rayne hit the KillSwitch and went up top but missed the Warrior’s Way. This allowed Kendrick to hit a Mafia Kick for two. Kendrick ended the match with an inverted Play of the Day.

Before the main event of the evening, “The Emerald Emperor” Simon Sez joined ASW Chain Reaction’s Sean LaFlash in the ring. After getting a standing ovation from the crowd, Sez talked about “Best of the Best” being the biggest night of his career. He brought up his history in ASW and how his parents came out to see “the House FXE Built.” Sez announced due to his health issues he was going to officially announce his retirement. That brought out Francisco Ciatso and Sez left the ring. After jawboxing with the crowd and ASW Commissioner Don Vinnie, Ciatso called Sez back to the ring. He said Sez needed to have a career to be able to retire. Ciatso brought up “Best of the Best” and all the names on the show. Ciatso felt slighted Sez skipped his name in the accolades. Ciatso wanted to know how Sez’s mother felt about giving birth to a loser.
Sez responded with a slap to the face. Ciatso said everyone gets one free shot. Ciatso asked one more question, Sez’s main squeeze Laura and how she feels about sleeping next to a guy with no balls. Sez snapped and jumped on Ciatso. ASW Security and the locker room cleared trying to get the two apart. It literally took several minutes to get Sez & Ciatso apart and clear the ring.

(7) ASW Florida Heavyweight champion Biff Slater of the FXE defeated the PR Hound Dog.
This was a battle of powerhouses and Slater took over with slams and suplexes. The Hound Dog went to the floor and Slater followed trading chops and ringpost shots. But back in the ring Slater set too soon for a move and paid when the Hound Dog hit a kick and a neckbreaker for two. The Dog hit a standing dropkick and a corner splash for two. The Dog locked in a chinlock but Slater fought to his feet only to be hit with a boot to the face. The Hound Dog locked in the chinlock once more and Slater fought out again but this time he hit several clotheslines and a flapjack. Slater hit a clothesline in the corner and a running kick for two. Slater’s power move was countered into a DDT for two. The Hound Dog went up but missed his flying headbutt. Slater made him pay by hitting the Spinebuster to retain his championship.

But Slater’s celebration was cut short by Aaron Kanye Epic who hit two facebusters. Slater got to his feet only to have Epic hit a crescent kick to the face.
