NWS Internet News Update For Week Of 03/14: NWS Returns To Old Bridge After 13 Years, More April Shows Announced (Including A Huge Triple-Show Weekend), And More

Hello NWS fans! This is your weekly update on what's happened, what is happening now, and what is going to happen soon in the nation's leading family-friendly pro wrestling promotion, National Wrestling Superstars.

Upcoming Shows This Weekend

This Friday night March 18th, NWS returns to the Jersey Shore area at a brand new venue, Long Branch, NJ's newly-renovated Bucky James Community Center (231 Wilbur Ray Avenue, just off Route 36, minutes from the Parkway), with a 7:45pm bell time.
NWS has been a mainstay for pro wrestling action in Long Branch for years now, but this will be their first ever appearance at the new Community Center, and for this momentous occasion, there will be a true wrestling legend in the house... a former WWE TV superstar, WrestleMania headliner, Intercontinental and Tag-Team Champion, and Hall-of-Famer... the one and only "El Matador" Tito Santana!
Santana has made many appearances with NWS over the years, and this Friday he will be stepping into the ring to settle a long-standing feud, as he teams with former NWS Heavyweight Champion and big man "Atomic Dog" Ali against their arch-nemeses, international star Danny Inferno, and making his return to NWS after nearly a year, "The Cold-Hearted Playa" Danny Demanto.
Speaking of champions, the reigning NWS Heavyweight Champion, Middletown's Steve "Rampage" Rogers will be in action, along with NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans" and NWS Cruiserweight Champion Spyral.
Also in Long Branch will be the 900-pound undefeated monsters The Nigerian Nightmares (Ma-Fu & La-Fu), former NWS Heavyweight Champion "Corrupted" Corey Havoc, "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie, Jumping Joey Janela, Chikara Pro Wrestling star Frightmare, referee-turned-wrestler Gulf War veteran Sargeant Jimmy Storm, "Retro" Rocker Ricky Roxx, Team Crazy Horse (Indian Chief Draven & "The Warrior" Jack Spade), and much more.
Tickets are only $19 for adults and $17 for kids & seniors.
This Saturday night March 19th, NWS returns to Stirling, NJ's Long Hill Township Community Center (264 Warren Avenue, minutes from I-78), with a 7:35pm bell time.
And NWS will top its two previous Stirling events by bring "Steel Cage Mania" to the Center, where the main event will take place inside pro wrestling's ultimate battleground, a fifteen-foot-high steel cage. This setting is reserved for only the most brutal matchups, and stepping into the cage on Saturday night will be a man who knows all about brutal matches, having wrestled countless ones in his years as a former ECW hardcore icon, the "homicidal-suicidal-genocidal" Sabu, who will battle a veteran of the ring wars (and at least a few steel cage matches himself), former NWS Heavyweight Champion "The Cold-Hearted Playa" Danny Demanto. As exciting as steel cage matches are on TV or from a far-away seat in an arena, seeing one close-up is a thrill that should not be missed.
Speaking of champions, the reigning NWS Heavyweight Champion, Steve "Rampage" Rogers will be in action, along with NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans, NWS Tag-Team Championship co-holder & Jersey Shore Jocks member Mike Dennis. They will be joined by regional and local pro mat stars such as "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie, Jeff "Cannonball" Guerrero, The Jersey Kidd, Andy Wilde, Kidd Flite, and ladies' wrestling stars Niya and Marti Belle.
Tickets are only $20 and all seats are ringside.
Tickets are available by calling the NWS box office at (732) 888-1704. Remaining seats, if any, will go on sale at the door one hour before bell time.

Results From Last Weekend

Pro wrestling returned to Old Bridge, NJ on Saturday night March 12, after a 13-year absence, to the Old Bridge Knights Of Columbus Hall, as National Wrestling Superstars brought another one of their blockbuster shows to town. A better than expected crowd turned out, and whatever they lacked in numbers they made up in enthusiasm, leading to a promise from the Knights to have NWS back again soon.
    • Before the first match, NWS ring announcer Johnny Falco introduced Grand Knight Carlos Garcia, who welcomed NWS and the fans to Old Bridge. His greeting was interrupted by the appearance of former ECW star "Dastardly" Danny Doring and his co-hortsJ.T. Highlander and Nicky Oceans. Doring proceeded to insult the fans, Carlos, and his scheduled opponent, former WWE hall-of-famer Tito Santana. He said Santana (who had not yet arrived due to car troubles) was no doubt afraid to face him and would probably never show up, but his friends J.T. and Nicky would wreak havoc on their opponents just the same.
    • In the opening contest, a triple-threat rematch for the NWS Cruiserweight Title, newly-crowned champion Spyral retained his title against challengers "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie and Jumping Joey Janela. Even though the low ceiling limited the high flying a bit, the three competitors kept up a fast pace inside and outside the ring. Janela tried to put away Smoothie with a pair of standing moonsaults, but Smoothie blocked the second one, and Spyral knocked Janela out with a kick to his head against the ringpost. Smoothie then leveled Spyral with a swinging neckbreaker and a flying Leg Drop From (Halfway) Across The Delaware (due to the low ceiling), but only got a two-count. A frustrated Smoothie shoved the referee in anger, who shoved Smoothie back, right into two sucessive Spyral Drivers from the champion, who got the 1-2-3 count to retain the belt. The frustrated Janela and Smoothie tried to attack Spyral after the match, but ended up fighting each other over who was to blame for Spyral winning. Spyral offered them both a rematch in one more triple-threat match in South Amboy, NJ at the end of March.
    • J.T. Highlander (with Danny Doring in his corner) defeated "The Retro Rocker" Ricky Roxx (with Grand Knight Carlos Garcia in his corner). Roxx put up a good fight, but Doring's constant interference made it literally one against two. The end came when Highlander tried to bring his Canadian Flag into the ring as a weapon, and while the referee was distracted trying to remove it, Doring snuck into the ring and leveled Roxx with an inverted Jawbreaker, allowing Highlander to get the easy 1-2-3.
    • The Nigerian Nightmares (La-Fu & new member "Whitemare" Baminga, with Voodoo Princess Niya) defeated "The White Urkel" B. Fehrm & luchador Sucio Sanchez. Fehrm and Sanchez didn't even want to get in the ring, but were somehow "entranced" by Niya to return. The 800+ pound Nightmares had a mostly easy time with their more than doubly outsized opponents. Towards the end, after La-Fu missed an Avalanche to the corner, Fehrm and Sanchez managed to mount some offense, even knocking Baminga off his feet. But the offensive flurry was interrupted by Niya, who used her "feminine charms" to distract Sanchez long enough for Baminga to level Sanchez with a standing moonsault, followed by an Attitude Adjuster and the easy 1-2-3.
    • In another title rematch, NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans (with Danny Doring in his corner) and challenger The Jersey Kidd (with Grand Knight Carlos Garcia in his corner) fought to a double disqualification. The two fought a mostly even match, but once again Doring's presence at ringside made it practically a two-on-one affair. After a spinning leg kick in the corner to Oceans, it appeared that The Kidd was on his way to a victory, but Doring interrupted the pinfall by putting Oceans' foot on the ropes. Oceans came back to hit his "Boom-Boom-Pow" finisher on The Kidd, but he kicked out at two. The Kidd roared back and hit a pair of German Suplexes on Oceans followed by a Facebuster, but Doring ran into the ring and broke up the pin, and the referee called for the bell. Doring and Oceans continued the attack on The Kidd, aided by J.T. Highlander and Corey Havoc. Then from out of the locker room came The Nigerian Nightmares, and it looked as if The Kidd was about to be crushed, but to everyone's surprise, La-Fu and Baminga attacked Doring and his co-horts instead, rescuing The Kidd to the delight of the crowd. The match was declared a double-disqualification due to all the outside interference, and Commissioner Moore promised The Kidd would have a rematch at a future date.
    • In a battle of the big men, Jeff "Cannonball" Guerrero defeated "Corrupted" Corey Havoc. The up-and-comer Cannonball matched holds and power with the former champion Havoc. After leveling Cannonball with a lariat, Havoc only got a two-count, and the frustrated Havoc shoved Referee Sargeant Jimmy Storm. After being warned by Storm not to do that again, he did, and was promptly shoved back by Storm, and back-body-dropped when he charged at Storm. Cannonball seized the opportunity and hit a splash on Havoc, and Referee Storm was only too happy to make a quick three-count and award the match to Cannonball. Havoc seized the microphone and said that he had had enough of The Sarge, who he blamed for losing the NWS Heavyweight Title, and now this loss too, and challenged him to settle their differences in a match. Commissioner Moore announced that the two would fight in Long Branch, NJ next Friday night. He also announced that Cannonball, by defeating Havoc, was now the number-one contender to the NWS Heavyweight Title, and would get his title shot the following Saturday night in Stirling, NJ.
    • In the Main Event, former WWE star "El Matador" Tito Santana (with Grand Knight Carlos Garcia in his corner) defeated former ECW star & Tag-Team Champion "Dastardly" Danny Doring. Santana did not come out when first introduced, and Doring gave the crowd an "I told you so!" Santana was introduced a second time and still did not come out yet, and Doring told Commissioner Moore that it was obvious that Santana wasn't going to show up, and demanded that he be awarded the match by forfeit. Grand Knight Carlos Garcia came out and informed Commissioner Moore that Santana had literally just arrived, and Santana was introduced a third time and this time came out of the curtain. The two finally locked up and commenced a furious brawl. Despite a hard-fought match, Santana withstood the assault, and after Doring missed a senton off the top rope, Santana leveled Doring with a series of clotheslines, then slapped on a Figure-Four Leglock, to which Doring eventually tapped out, giving Santana the submission victory. The victorious Santana celebrated with the crowd after the match, posing for pictures with the fans.

Other Upcoming Shows

Friday night March 25th, NWS debuts at the South Amboy, NJ Middle & High School Gym (200 Governor Harold G. Hoffman Plaza, just off Bordentown Avenue & Broadway, minutes from Routes 9 and 35), with a 7:45pm bell time.
He was one of the most accomplished amateur and professional wrestlers ever to enter the squared circle... he held the WWE Intercontinental, Tag-Team, and United States Titles... he was aptly nicknamed "The Gold Standard"... he's WWE alumnus Shelton Benjamin, and if you want to see for yourself why he deserves that nickname, come on out.
In addition to Shelton Benjamin, another former TV wrestling star, the arrogant former ECW & TNA star Julio Dinero, will be making a rare central Jersey appearance, and as always will be accompanied by his beautiful but devious manager Miss Michelle.
But that's only the tip of the proverbial iceberg. The NWS Heavyweight Championship will be on the line, as former champion and Jersey Shore favorite Ray Ray Marz will try to win back the title from the man who defeated him for it last month, reigning champion and Bayshore area resident Steve "Rampage" Rogers. And in another epic rematch, NWS Tag-Team Champions The Jersey Shore Jocks (Mike Dennis & Chris D'Andrea) will defend their titles against the duo who nearly dethroned them in their last meeting, "Corrupted" Corey Havoc & "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans.
Also making an appearance will be the NWS Cruiserweight Champion Spyral, the 900-pound undefeated Nigerian Nightmares (Ra-Fu & La-Fu), The World Famous TV Wrestling Clown, Jumping Joey Janela, and "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie. They will be joined by other regional and local pro mat stars.
Tickets are only $20 for ringside seats and $18 for bleachers.
Saturday April 2nd, NWS returns to Kearny, NJ's Presbyterian Boys & Girls Club (663 Kearny Avenue, minutes from Routes 21 & 280) for two huge blockbuster shows with sister all-ladies promotion, Women Superstars Uncensored.
In the afternoon, beginning at 2:35pm, a collection of the best female wrestlers in the nation will compete in a one-show single elimination tournament, the NWS/WSU 2011 Women's J-Cup Tournament. Besides the prestigious J-Cup Trophy, and the obvious bragging rights that go with it, the winner gets a future shot at the WSU World Title.
Just a few of the ladies who have already thrown their hat into the ring for this event include former WSU Spirt Champion Brittney Savage, both WSU Tag-Team Champions Marti Belle and Tina SanAntonio, and "The Definition Of Technician" Cindy Rogers.
Plus, the WSU World Champion herself, "The Latina Sensation" Mercedes Martinez, will defend her title in Kearny, and former WSU World Champion (and the 2010 J-Cup Winner) Alicia will look for revenge against the lady who spoiled her latest title challenge earlier this month, Jessica Havok.
And that evening, beginning at 7:35pm, the ladies of WSU will be back, and this time they will be teaming up with the men of NWS as inter-gender tag-teams, in one of the most unique annual events in pro wrestling, the NWS/WSU 2011 King And Queen Of The Ring Tournament, where  inter-gender tag-teams compete in a one-night single-elimination tournament to win the coveted crowns.
The roster of men who will be teaming up include a pair of TV wrestling legends. Former WWE star and "Spirit Squad" member Kenny Dykstra will team with former WSU Champion Alicia, and former ECW & TNA star Julio Dinero will team with "The Definition Of Technician" Cindy Rogers. Both of these teams have formidable men and women, and have to be considered the early favorites. In addition, former NWS Heavyweight Champion "Corrupted" Corey Havoc & Jessica Havok will join forces (calling themselves "Team Havoc") NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans will team with tough lady Jana, and NWS Cruiserweight Champion Spyral will team with returning WSU star Ariel.
In addition to the tournament, WSU Tag-Team Champions The Belle Saints (Tina SanAntonio & Marti Belle) will defend their titles that evening, and former WSU Spirit Champion Brittney Savage will be looking to end the career of her former Cosmo Club stablemate "Boy Diva" Rick Cataldo when they meet in a one-on-one match.

Also appearing will be the NWS Heavyweight Champion Steve "Rampage" Rogers and NWS Tag-Team Champions The Jersey Shore Jocks, the 900-pound undefeated monsters The Nigerian Nightmares, plus many more stars.
There will also be appearances by teachers from the Edison High School and Herbert Hoover and Woodrow Wilson Middle Schools, and the famous Edison High School Eagle's Nest will be out in full effect!

NWS' return to Atco will be headlined by no less than three former WWE TV legends, in the form of the vile Salvatore Sincere, Nick Dinsmore (a.k.a. the former happy-go-lucky Eugene), and the hulking Snitsky, who plans to issue an open challenge that night for anyone in the NWS locker room to face him one-on-one in a "Loser Goes Through A Door" Match.
Also appearing in Atco will be NWS Heavyweight Champion Steve "Rampage" Rogers, NWS Tag-Team Champions The Jersey Shore Jocks, and NWS Cruiserweight Champion Spyral, the 900-pound undefeated monsters The Nigerian Nightmares, and much more, including Atco's own Rocky Falco.
