On Friday March 18th, ASW Florida held their weekly "Full Throttle" event at Stroker’s Billiards 11236 Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa, FL.
(1) "Dancing Machine" Bobby Fonta defeated "Handsome" Jason Handley.
Fonta was in a party mood passing out St. Patrick’s Day style beads to the ringside fans. Handley wanted nothing to do with that and was ready to fight. Too bad for him Fonta used his speed to avoid contact while tagging Handley with punches. That stopped when Fonta went to the ropes and right into Handley’s chest. Handley used his power to toss Fonta around while mixing in some choking along the ropes. That ended when Handley missed a corner splash and Fonta took over with an enziguri and an attempted double arm DDT but Handley countered into a bear hug slam. Handley missed a splash but didn’t miss a corner splash. However his second rope bodysplash was blocked and Fonta hit a power bomb for two and won with the double arm DDT.
(2) Aaron Epic defeated Blain Rage.
After Epic’s epic length ring introduction he proceeded to mock Rage and his height. Epic had his mouth shut by a dropkick and a flying head scissor. But Rage was taken down to the mat by an STO for two that was followed by punches. Rage fought back but Epic hit his TKO punch for two, as he posed instead of going for the cover. So Epic locked in a rear chinlock that Rage fought out of with a jawbreaker and an enziguri. Rage followed with more offense including a missile dropkick for two. Rage followed with a Michinoku Driver for two but his sunset flip was countered into more pin attempts. But Epic got the last move with the superkick and the victory.
(3) The Highwaymen (Butch Long & Marc Mandrake w/Ferrari) defeated Josh Rayne & American Patriot.
Just when it looked like Mandrake was going to speak to the fans, Rayne & Patriot attacked. It didn’t last long as the Highwaymen regrouped by sending Rayne to the floor and working over Patriot. The fans were used to the Highwaymen’s aggressive style but not them easily defeating a team. Patriot’s night was ended by Long’s top rope legdrop but the Highwaymen made a statement to Tha NuYoRicanz they were coming for their championship belts.
ASW Florida Elite champion "the Great" Kennedy Kendrick & his wife Camey made their way to the ring to speak with ASW Chain Reaction’s Sean LaFlash. Kendrick proclaimed his greatness as champion and his ability to defeat anyone ASW Commissioner Don Vinnie had placed in front of him. That brought out Damien Angel who disagreed with Kendrick’s last statement calling Kendrick weak and mocked his need for Camey to help retain his championship. Angel said if Kendrick is great, defend the championship. Kendrick was left to stand and contemplate the offer.
(4) "The Infamous" Eddie Taurus defeated "Havana Sensation" Romeo Kaveo.
This was fun for the fans as it was a matchup of former ASW Florida Heavyweight champions. Having faced off in the past it was going to take a major tactical error for someone to get control of the match. Taurus called for an old fashioned test of strength and Romeo accepted only to end up taking over with a dropkick that sent Taurus to the floor. Romeo joined him with a twisting plancha that took both men down. Once back in the ring Romeo went for a corner move but Taurus cut him off and went to work on Romeo’s left knee using any legal or illegal methods to do damage. Romeo tried to fight back but Taurus took him down with a Dragon Screw. Taurus went for the Figure Four but Romeo kicked him off and went to the ropes but Taurus was waiting to put Romeo back down into a half crab submission. Romeo refused to submit and countered out of the hold only to be hit with a back suplex. Romeo recovered and got in some offensive holds including a spinning back kick for two. Taurus fought back with a German suplex for two. Romeo hit another kick and went up but Taurus bumped into referee Dan Kreigbaum who fell into the ropes. That caused Romeo to fall off the top out of control and allowed Taurus to win.
But before Taurus could do more damage to Romeo, the NWA World Tag Team champions Dark City Fight Club (Jon Davis & Kory Chavis) charged the ring. That sent Taurus running for the hills proclaiming once he got Eric Cooper back to ASW he would be ready. The DCFC called out anyone in ASW to come out and take them on for the championships, who better than the inaugural ASW Florida Tag Team champions the Latin Assassins.
(5) NWA World Tag Team champions Dark City Fight Club (Jon Davis & Kory Chavis) defeated the Latin Assassins of the FXE ("Pretty Boy" Gu$ Money & "Real Deal" Mike Cruz)
To their credit the Assassins were not intimidated by the World champions and took it to them with chain wrestling mixed with high tempo moves. But the DCFC stopped that when Chavis press slammed Cruz and dropped out of sight. The DCFC made several tags working over Cruz’s back. Money could only cheer Cruz on as has slid out of a Davis powerslam but his attempt at a tag was turned into a spinebuster. Somehow Cruz fought off defeat and used his quickness to tag out to Money who went to work with a crucifix that was countered by Chavis but Money countered out into a necksnap. Cruz hit the duo with a slingshot dropkick that sent Chavis to the floor. That allowed the Assassins to double team Davis. Not forgetting Chavis, Cruz hit him with a plancha. The Assassins hit Davis with their double team top rope finisher but Chavis saved Davis. The DCFC ended the hopes of the Assassins by taking out Money and finishing Cruz with Project Mayhem. After the match the DCFC took to the microphones to praise the Assassins for their effort and proclaimed to the people who say tag team wrestling is dead needs to think again.
Before the next match, "The Emerald Emperor" Simon Sez joined ASW Chain Reaction’s Sean LaFlash at ringside. Sez said last week’s retirement announcement seemed to be a mistake after Francisco Ciatso interrupted it. Sez demanded Ciatso come to the ring so he could punch him out. Never one to back down from a fight, Barney Rumble made his way to the ring. Wait did I just type that; yes Barney Rumble dressed like Ciatso entered the ring. Sez decided he was wasting his time until Rumble flipped him off. Sez attacked Rumble like he owed him money. When things got tough for Rumble, Pete Cannon and the real Francisco Ciatso hit the ring and Sez with furious anger. Ciatso trash talked Sez as Cannon & Rumble held him up about Sez’s parents and girlfriend. Sez was able to get free of Rumble & Cannon for a moment and he was joined by FXE’s Don Maximo who tried to even things. ASW security soon joined out along with ASW Commissioner Don Vinnie. Sez got the ring mic and told Ciatso retirement was off and he wanted to kick Ciatso’s..well you know. Stay tuned to see if that match will be made in the coming weeks.
(6) ASW Florida Tag Team champions Tha NuYoRicanz (Ramos & Rivera w/Don Kiko Cavana) defeated the World’s Largest All-Nighters ("the Joverine" Joey Knight & "Sexual Intellectual" Shooter Storm)
Like their team name, Storm & Knight partied with the ringside fans actually starting a conga line around the ring. The NYR were not in the St. Patty’s mood, more like the St. Ass Kicking one. But before the initial lockup referee JW Anderson used his power and ejected Don Kiko from ringside. But for some reason Storm said let him stay. Ramos and Storm locked up and it was obvious that the NYR had the strength advantage but Storm had quickness and used an armdrag to take Ramos down. The All Nighters went to work on speeding things up which kept Ramos on the edge of defeat. Rivera tagged in to counter the All Nighters speed. It worked as Ramos soon tagged back in to use his power moves on Knight. But Knight countered a move and tagged in Storm followed by a double team move for two. Storm went to the ropes but Rivera stopped him and the distraction allowed Ramos to hit a hangman on Storm’s left arm. The NYR drew a bullseye on the injury and worked on it for several minutes using double and triple teaming. But the NYR made a tactical error and it allowed Knight to tag back in and clean house. The All Nighters were soon hitting the NYR with double team moves but Kiko pulled referee JW Anderson out to the floor to break the count. D. Lee came out and attacked Kiko for the attack from last week and Anderson followed the action outside the ring. That allowed the James Boys (Luke & Rich) to walk out and attack the All Nighters with branding iron shots to the head. When Anderson finally focused back on the ring all he saw was Ramos lying on top of Storm for the pinfall victory.
(7) In a non-title match, "Killer" Kyle Blizzard defeated ASW Florida Heavyweight champion Biff Slater of the FXE.
Blizzard talked trash about why the championship was really not on the line. Slater did his talking by muscling Blizzard around the ring. Blizzard suffered a chest chop that echoed through the venue. But Blizzard fought back with shoulder blocks to Slater’s rib section and a back suplex that shook the ring. Blizzard locked in a chinlock submission but Slater fought to his feet, only to be hit with a running knee and a power move for two. Blizzard kicked Slater in the head and used the ropes for a choking post as the referee got close to calling for a DQ. Blizzard got confident when he hit Slater with a throw-away slam but missed his second rope move hitting Slater’s boot. Slater got on the offense with a flapjack and Snake Eyes followed by a mafia kick for two. Slater hit a belly to belly suplex for two but Blizzard countered hit spinebuster with a boot to Slater’s face for two. Blizzard went for a TKO like move but Slater’s legs knocked the referee down and Slater slid off. Slater yelled at the ringside fans and when he turned around Blizzard hit the TKO just as the referee recovered to get the upset win.
