UFC ULTIMATE FIGHTER 13 FINALE TELEVISED CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 6/3/2011 5:22 AM
Twelve fighters dreams have come true in past seasons of the UFC Ultimate Fighter and a thirteenth fighters dream will come true on Saturday Night. Either Tony Ferguson or Ramsey Nijem will realize a lifelong dream, while another’s is going to be crushed. Also, a lightweight contender’s fight will take place and a former TUF finalist will be making his long awaited return.

The evening will be kicking off with a middleweight encounter as Tim Credeur (12-3-0) takes on Ed “Short Fuse” Herman (15-8-0). It has been nearly two years since Tim Credeur last competed in a professional MMA fight, as he survived a cancer scare. It has also been nearly two years since Ed Herman competed as well, but Ed Herman was a TUF3 finalist. Due to long layoff affecting both fighters, this one should be interesting and I’m going with Ed Herman to pull out the win.

A pair of light heavyweights are going to competed next as Kyle “Kingsbu” Kingsbury (11-2-0) faces Fabio Maldonado (7-1-0). Kyle Kingsbury has won three of four in the UFC, with notable wins over Razak Al-Hassan and Ricardo Romero. Fabio Maldonado is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated James McSweeney at UFC 120. This fight should be an entertaining slugfest, which the surging Kyle Kingsbury will be achieving the victory.

The next fight on the card is a welterweight division battle as Chris “C-Murder” Cope (4-1-0) does war with Chuck “Cold Steel” O’Neil (8-3-0). Chris Cope hasn’t competed in nearly a year, but is coming off a victory over Ron Keslar at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum. Chuck O’Neil is riding a three fight winning streak into Saturday Night, with one of those wins coming in the Bellator Fighting Championships. This fight is essentially for a job in the UFC, in which I believe will be going to the less experienced Chris Cope.

The co-main event is a lightweight division contender’s fight as Clay “The Carpenter” Guida (28-11-0) faces off with Anthony “Showtime” Pettis (13-1-0). Clay Guida is riding a three fighting winning streak into this fight, with a notable victory over Takanori Gomi at UFC 125. Anthony Pettis was the final WEC Lightweight Champion as he defeated Ben Henderson at WEC 53 to win the gold. The winner of this fight may be getting a UFC Lightweight Title opportunity and that fighter is going to be Anthony Pettis.

Headlining this card is the UFC Ultimate Fighter 13 Welterweight Finals as Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson (10-2-0) does battle with Ramsey Nijem (4-1-0). Tony Ferguson will be heading into the fight riding a three fighter winning streak, which includes a Pure Combat Welterweight Title victory. Ramsey Nijem also enters the fight with a three fight winning streak, with two victories coming in the Showdown Fights promotion. This fight should be mostly a standing battle with plenty of strikes, but it will be Tony Ferguson earning the TUF trophy.
