LEGACY FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 7 TELEVISED CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 7/20/2011 1:23 PM
When a promotion is set to make their national television debut, like this company is doing Friday Night, they must put an explosive card together. Legacy Fighting Championships has done just that with UFC/WEC veterans competing and even a title fight. Plus they got plenty of up and comers on the card, including a rematch of their 2010 Fight Of The Year winner.

Kicking off the event is a lightweight division tilt as Justin Reiswerg (2-1-0) is squaring off against Marc Ramirez (3-1-0). Justin Reiswerg is currently undefeated in Legacy, having defeated Reynaldo Trujillo at Legacy Fighting Championships 4. Marc Ramirez will be making his Legacy debut here, but he has fought three times in the International Xtreme Fight Association. This fight is a battle of two rising prospects in MMA, but I see Justin Reiswerg remaining undefeated in Legacy.

We return to the lightweight division in our next fight as Reynaldo “The Truth” Trujillo (8-6-0) is set to take on Jesus Rivera (4-2-0). Reynaldo Trujillo already holds a unanimous decision victory over his opponent, which occurred at a March 2010 Legacy event. Jesus Rivera has not fought since suffering that defeat, which was the Legacy 2010 Fight Of The Year. The lack of cage time is going to hurt Jesus Rivera, as Reynaldo Trujillo gets a second straight victory over him.

The bantamweight division will be highlighted next as Chad “Robo” Robichaux (11-1-0) faces off with Jonathan Mackles (8-1-0). Chad Robichaux is coming off the first loss of his career, which was to Zack Makovsky at Bellator Fighting Championships 41. Jonathan Mackles enters this fight riding a four fight winning streak, while also appearing in the lone Moosin: God Of MMA pay-per-view. This fight will go a long way for whoever gets the victory, which is exactly what Chad Robichaux is going to do.

Up next is a LFC Featherweight Title Fight as champion Daniel Pineda (13-7-0) defends against Frank Gomez (10-3-0). Daniel Pineda has fought three times thus far in Legacy and none of those fights have gone past the first round. Frank Gomez is a former WEC competitor, who won two of four fights while competing in that promotion. This fight should be nothing short of exciting, but the title will be staying around the waist of Daniel Pineda.

The co-main event takes place in the welterweight division as Antonio Flores (4-2-0) faces “The Secret Weapon” Pete Spratt (22-20-0). Antonio Flores hasn’t competed in an MMA fight in nearly a year, but he has fought three times in the International Xtreme Fight Association. Pete Spratt enters this fight winning two of his last five MMA fights, with a notable win coming over UFC veteran Luigi Fioravanti. The big issue Antonio Flores must overcome in the experience disadvantage he has compared to his opponent, which will not happen as Pete Spratt gets the duke.

The main event will occur in the lightweight division as Carlo “Neo” Prater (27-10-1) faces Cameron “Money Man” Dollar (9-2-0). Carlo Prater enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, with one victory occurring in the Strikeforce promotion. Cameron Dollar was a cast member on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 9, which was won by both Ross Pearson and James Wilks. The majority of this fight should be contested on the ground, where Carlo Prater will earn a third straight victory.
