BELLATOR FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 47 TELEVISED CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 7/22/2011 10:46 AM
We are in the second of three shows in the Bellator “Summer Series” and this one is definitely not a show to miss. Just for starters, we are going to the two semi-final fights in the Bellator Featherweight Tournament. Also a heavyweight tournament finalist from season three returns and a WEC veteran makes his Bellator debut.

Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as Chris “The So Cal Kid” Saunders (9-1-0) steps up against Chris “The Polish Hammer” Horodecki (17-3-0). Chris Saunders enters the fight riding a seven fight winning streak, with four of them coming in the Battle In The Ballroom promotion. Following his release from the WEC in 2010, Chris Horodecki defeated David Castillo by submission at Knockout Entertainment MMA. While Chris Saunders is definitely a top prospect, Chris Horodecki has too many tools available to him to win this fight.

The next fight will be taking place in the heavyweight division as Zak Jensen (10-6-0) does battle with Neil “Goliath” Grove (10-3-1). Zak Jensen enters this fight only winning one of his last four fights, with one of those losses coming to UFC veteran Tim Hague. Neil Grove made it to the finals of the Bellator season three heavyweight tournament before losing to Cole Konrad. This fight is going to be a guaranteed slugfest, but it will be Neil Grove picking up the victory here.

The co-main event is a BFC Featherweight Tournament Semi-Final Fight as Nazareno “Naza” Malegarie (20-1-0) takes on Marlon Sandro (18-2-0). Nazareno Malegarie advanced to the tournament semi-finals after defeated Jacob Devree by submission at Bellator 46. At that very same show, it was Marlon Sandro defeating Genair Da Silva by split decision to advance in the tournament. This fight is going to be a very interesting one to watch, but I see Nazareno Malegarie getting the big win.

The main event is the second BFC Featherweight Tournament Semi-Final Fight as Pat Curran (14-4-0) faces Ronnie “Kid Ninja” Mann (20-3-1). Pat Curran advanced to the semi-finals of the tournament when he defeated Luis Palomino at Bellator 46. Ronnie Mann punched his ticket to the tournament semi-finals when he bested Adam Schindler by knockout at Bellator 46. This fight should be one of the best for Bellator this year, but it will be Pat Curran advancing to the finals.
