UFC 133: EVANS VS. ORTIZ II FACEBOOK CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 8/3/2011 10:55 AM
One of the most highly anticipated rematches takes place this Saturday Night as Rashad Evans and Tito Ortiz meet once more. Action also returns to the UFC’s Facebook page, where two key fights take place in the promotions featherweight and welterweight divisions. The action kicks off at 6pm EST. on the UFC’s official Facebook page, just click the “like” button to gain access.

Kicking off the action is a middleweight division clash as Paul “The Gentleman” Bradley (18-2-0) goes into battle against Rafael “Sapo” Natal (12-3-1). Paul Bradley enters the fight riding a five fight winning streak, with two of the victories coming in the Extreme Challenge promotion. Rafael Natal has had a poor run thus far in the UFC, suffering one defeat and competing to one draw. Paul Bradley took the fight on very late notice, which is going to hurt him as Rafael Natal gets his first UFC victory.

Up next is a featherweight division fight as Mike Brown (24-8-0) will be across the cage from Nam Phan (16-8-0). Mike Brown is a former WEC Featherweight Champion, but has yet to find success in the UFC, losing two straight. Nam Phan is coming off of a loss to Leonard Garcia at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale, plus he hasn’t competed in eight months due to injury. This fight could be the battle to avoid the pink slip, but it will be Nam Phan getting the duke and Mike Brown getting the pink slip.

The next fight will be taking place in the welterweight division as Johny Hendricks (10-1-0) faces Mike Pierce (12-3-0). Johny Hendricks has won five of six fights in the UFC, with his lone defeat coming to top ranked Rick Story. Mike Pierce is similar to Johny Hendricks, having won four of five in the UFC and his lone defeat comes to Jon Fitch. This fight could determine who jumps into the top ten of the welterweight division and that person will be Johny Hendricks.

Headlining this portion of the card is a bantamweight division fight as Ivan “Pride Of El Salvador” Menjivar (22-8-0) takes on Nick Pace (6-1-0). Ivan Menjivar is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Charlie Valencia at UFC 129. Nick Pace is also undefeated thus far in UFC competition, defeating Will Campuzano by submission at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale. This fight is a battle of experience versus youth, but it will be the experienced Ivan Menjivar getting the victory.
