VICTORY CROWN CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING returned to the South Side Event Center at Gilley’s Dallas, in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday night, August 6th, for Quest for the Crown II. Last year, current Ring of Honor superstar Robert “R.D.” Evans won the tournament and the championship trophy – but this year, with VCCW’s Openweight Championship belt at stake, Evans returned and vowed to be the first man to wear the strap!

MATCH 1: “The Mind of Wrestling” JT LaMotta def. “The Beast” Franco D'Angelo via forfeit to advance to the semi-finals.

LaMotta entered the ring first, but D’Angelo, accompanied by the lovely Angel Dean, came down wearing street clothes and his arm in a cast. He handed a doctor’s note to the Voice of VCCW, ring announcer Kody Kox, stating that D’Angelo could not compete due to recent surgery for a torn bicep.

LaMotta was declared the winner, and headed back to the locker room. D’Angelo took the mic, and said that if it wasn’t for his injury, he’d have won Quest for the Crown II and he’d be leaving the building as the Victory Crown Championship Wrestling Openweight Champion.

Robert “R.D.” Evans then hit the ring, and interrupted D’Angelo, his former tag team partner. He continued to berate D’Angelo, calling him a failure and a disgrace to their team of Perfexcellence, and telling him he was only in the tournament to help Evans win. Franco challenged Evans on the spot, but Angel pulled him away, telling him he needed to protect his arm.

“The Underground Icon” Scot Summers – who has a bitter rivalry with both Evans and D’Angelo, and who fought D’Angelo to a time limit draw in the Main Event of last month’s “Old Wounds Never Heal” – then came down the ring, leading to Evans rolling out. He reminded both men how they worked together to defeat him in last year’s tournament, and then told D’Angelo to not let Evans speak to him with such disrespect. Summers told D’Angelo that he didn’t like him much, but respected him as a warrior, and D’Angelo responded by telling Summers that if he meets Evans in the tournament, he hopes he kicks his ass.

Summers then smiled at Evans and said he hopes he’s ready, because his match is up next! Evans threw a tantrum, but didn’t have a choice and prepared to get into the ring

MATCH 2: “Essence of Excellence” Robert Evans def. “The Largeador” Michael Faith (12:53) via DQ due to a reversed decision after Faith hit the referee.

The finish saw Evans push the referee into Faith's back which led to Faith turning around and inadvertently punching the referee, knocking him out. Faith ended up hitting the Samoan drop and another ref came out from the locker room and made the 3-count, giving Faith the upset victory!

But then the original referee regained consciousness and called for the DQ because Faith punched him, which reversed the decision, and advanced Evans to the semi-finals.

MATCH 3: “The Underground Icon” Showtime Scot Summers def. “Dirty” Andy Dalton (13:00) after a Brain Buster to advance to the semi-finals.

MATCH 4: “Zombie Killer” Rexx Reed def. The 300 Pound Manimal (8:24) with a rollup following a distraction from Matt Palmer.

After the match, Manimal chased Palmer brawled around ringside and into the back, a continuation of the feud that began last month. This led to intermission, where the legendary Killer Karl Kox signed autographs for the fans.

Post-intermission, Manimal and Palmer emerged from the back, still brawling. Manimal got Palmer into the ring and pummeled him, but Palmer escaped and heading into the back again.

MATCH 5: The Freak Squad (Dom Vitalli & Gabriel Gallo) def. The Submission Squad (Evan Gelistico & Pierre Abernathy) (9:59) when Gallo pinned Abernathy with a rollup.

MATCH 6 (QFTC Semi Final): “Essence of Excellence” Robert Evans def. “The Mind of Wrestling” JT LaMotta (10:14) via DQ when LaMotta slammed Evans onto his 2010 Quest for the Crown Trophy after Evans had attempted to use it.

After the match, the normally mild-mannered LaMotta showed his frustration with his DQ loss and attacked Evans with the trophy. Evans rolled out of the ring, which led to LaMotta slamming the trophy onto the ring ropes, shattering it. LaMotta then appeared to have a mild break down, before eventually heading back to the locker room.

MATCH 7 (QFTC Semi Final): “The Underground Icon” Scot Summers def. “Zombie Killer” Rexx Reed (14:07) via submission with a triangle choke.

The finals for QFTC 2 are now set, as long time rivals Scot Summers and Robert Evans will meet to determine who will be the first-ever VICTORY CROWN CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING        Openweight Champion!

MATCH 8: Lillie Mae def. “Five Star” Amanda Fox (6:32) after a double underhook facebuster.

After the match, Lillie celebrated her win and high fived fans at ringside. Lillie acknowledged "The Wrestling Goddess" Athena, who had stood up in the audience clapping slowly. The two exchanged words before Lillie Mae left ringside and headed to the back

THE MAIN EVENT (QFTC 2 FINALS TO DETERMINE VCCW’S FIRST EVER OPENWEIGHT CHAMPION):

“The Underground Icon” Scot Summers def. “Essence of Excellence” Robert Evans (18:01) via submission with the rear naked choke to WIN Quest for the Crown 2 and become the first ever VCCW Openweight Champion!

Franco D’Angelo came down to ringside in the match’s final moments, and mocked Evans after he tapped out. He then let Summers know he’s gunning for the title when he’s healthy

Killer Karl Kox came to ringside and presented Summers with the Championship Belt. Summers celebrated with the title, then praised Kox and talked about all the legends that have been in the ring before. He spoke fondly of the legendary World Class Championship Wrestling, and that Victory Crown was following in those footsteps. He encouraged everyone in attendance to spread the word of VCCW, and thanks all the fans for supporting him!
