MMA FIGHT PIT: GENESIS PAY-PER-VIEW CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 8/11/2011 11:40 AM
Debuting between a loaded Strikeforce Challengers card on Friday and a UFC On Versus V card on Sunday is the debut of MMA Fight Pit. This card features a lot of UFC veterans like Houston Alexander, Jens Pulver, Jamie Yager, Junie Browning and Razak Al-Hassan. Also, there are plenty of great up and comers on the card as well, including an excellent women’s fight.

Kicking off the action is a women’s 105lb. division fight as Angelica “South Valley’s Own” Chavez (4-0-0) is across the cage from Diana “Dynamite” Rael (2-1-0). Angelica Chavez is an undefeated fighter who has finished three of her four opponents in the opening round. Diana Rael is coming off of a loss to Lacey Shuckman, but before that she had won two fights in a row. This fight is between two exciting women who know how to finish fights, but it will be Angelica Chavez remaining undefeated.

The next fight will be taking place in the heavyweight division as Tyler “The Beast” East (9-3-0) battles Prince McClean (6-6-0). Tyler East enters the fight riding a five fight winning streak, with three of the wins coming in the King Of The Cage promotion. Prince McClean has won two of his last three fights, but he has not competed in an MMA fight in over a year. The long layoff is going to hurt Prince McClean in this one as Tyler East will be picking up the big victory.

A pair of middleweights will go into battle next as Jamie “The Chosyn 1” Yager (3-2-0) competes against Willie “Slick” Parks (4-0-0). Jamie Yager has won his lone fight since being released from the UFC, which was over Marcus Gaines at The Warriors Cage 10. Willie Parks is an undefeated fighter who has already won three MMA fights this year, with his latest win coming over Brad Peterson. This fight should be a pretty entertaining slugfest, but it will be Willie Parks pulling the upset and remaining undefeated.

We drop down to the lightweight division for the next fight as Junie “Lunatik” Browning (4-4-0) is set to face Jacob Clark (8-3-0). Junie Browning enters the fight riding a three fight losing streak and he has not competed in nearly a year. Jacob Clark is being brought in as a late replacement opponent for Junie Browning, but he is coming off of a loss to UFC veteran Vagner Rocha. Despite being a late replacement fighter, Jacob Clark is way more active than Junie Browning and that will carry him to victory.

The co-main event will be in the bantamweight division as Coty “Ox” Wheeler (14-3-0) takes on Jens “Little Evil” Pulver (24-15-1). Coty Wheeler enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, with his last victory coming in the Mescalero Warriors Challenge promotion. Jens Pulver has gone through a career resurgence as of late, winning two of his last three MMA competitions. This is a real big test for Jens Pulver, but I see him failing that test and Coty Wheeler earning the victory.

Headlining this card is a light heavyweight division fight as Houston “The Assassin” Alexander (12-6-0) faces Razak “Razor” Al-Hassan (11-3-0). Houston Alexander enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak, including a victory over UFC veteran Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. Razak Al-Hassan enters the fight winning four of his last five fights, with one victory coming over UFC veteran Sherman Pendergarst. This fight should be nothing short of a slugfest, but it will be a slugfest won by the resurgent Houston Alexander.
