When you travel down to the Southeastern tip of the United States, it is there that you will find the Xtreme Fighting Championships. This promotion is primarily based out of Florida, but they did run two events a few years back in Tennessee. The company recently made headlines in the MMA world when they announced a television deal with HDNet beginning in October.

That October event will be headlined by UFC veteran Chase Gormley, but the rest of the card has not been announced as of this writing. Prior to this TV deal, the MMA promotion did stream some events online and released them on DVD as well. This deal with HDNet is easily the biggest deal the promotion has signed in their existence, which has been many years.

The promotion first made headlines when they signed former UFC Heavyweight Title contender Gan McGee, who had been retired for many years. Throughout the years, the Xtreme Fighting Championships have featured a lot of great fighters in their pre-UFC, pre-Strikeforce and pre-Bellator days.

Xtreme Fighting Championships also got involved in pro wrestling in an odd way, which has to do with their first DVD distribution deal. Many years back, the XFC released many of their DVD’s through RF Video, which was the original home of Ring Of Honor. That deal ended rather abruptly and the XFC released their events through various other retail outlets.

On the eve of their biggest event to date, Xtreme Fighting Championships 14, the promotion clearly has a bright future ahead.
