UFC 134: SILVA VS. OKAMI SPIKE TV PREVIEW

By David Tees on 8/25/2011 12:11 PM
Just like the Facebook fights previewed yesterday, the UFC has also dragged Spike TV to Brazil to broadcast two fights on the network. A late change to the Spike TV card moved a welterweight division fight to the Facebook card while a middleweight fight was brought up to Spike TV. This portion of the card is going to feature two important fights in both the middleweight and lightweight divisions.

Kicking off the card is a middleweight division fight as Dan Miller (13-5-0) faces Rousimar “Toquinho” Palhares (12-3-0). Dan Miller has won two of his last three fights, but he is coming off of a unanimous decision loss to Nate Marquardt. Rousimar Palhares is coming off of a submission victory over David Branch and his last three victories have come by heel hook submission. His fight could determine who moves into title contention in the division and that fighter will be Rousimar Palhares.

Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division fight as Spencer “The King” Fisher (24-7-0) takes on Thiago Tavares (15-4-1). Spencer Fisher has lost three of his last four fights, with that lone victory coming over Curt Warburton. Thiago Tavares has won two of his last three fights, but the fighter has yet to achieve victory in the year 2011. This fight could be the battle to avoid a pink slip, but I see Thiago Tavares getting a unanimous decision.
