10/29 MCW DUNDALK RESULTS

By Jeff Amdur, MCW historian on 10/31/2011 8:34 PM
Maryland Championship Wrestling’s “double champion” lost one of his belts while a former MCW wrestler and his mysterious masked companions continued to upset the MCW agenda at the MCW wrestling card held on Saturday night, October 30, at the New Green Room in Dundalk, MD.

Estimated attendance:  250-300.  MCW Co-owner: DAN McDEVITT.  Executive Producer:  PETE McDEVITT.  Ring announcer: AL ALBERT.  Doing play-by-play for the upcoming DVD:  MARK BRAY.  Ringside coordinator: BERNIE DIEHL. Timekeeper at the bell:  JEFF AMDUR (Hey, I know him!). Taping the proceedings: PAUL McCLEMENS and AARON SAIA.  Sound courtesy of PUMPKINHEAD SOUND. Referees for the evening:  JARED ARTMAN and WILLIAM JACKSON.  Photographing the proceedings: GREG GREENLAND.

MCW co-owner DAN McDEVITT begins the evening by thanking the fans for coming out in this bad weather.  He regretfully announces that due to the freak October snowstorm that has paralyzed much of the east coast, MCW commissioner “WISE GUY” JIMMY CICERO, two of tonight’s MCW Hall of Fame honorees—TOM BRANDI and BILL APTER—and much of tonight’s featured talent were snow-bound at their homes in Pennsylvania and Virginia.  MCW will re-schedule the annual “Salute to the Legends” and Hall of Fame induction to the December 30 Green Room show.
Before Dan can speak any further, MCW Heavyweight Champion / Television Champion RONNIE ZUKKO and his squeeze JESSIE KAYE come out and are serenaded by a steady chorus of “You [take in air through a straw]!” from the fans.  Zukko takers exception to the previous statement that much of the talent would not be here, telling Dan that all of his featured talent “is standing in the ring right now.”  McDevitt says since that is the case, Ronnie will have two matches tonight, defending each of his titles.  He will first be defending his TV belt, and in the main event, will defend the heavyweight belt against the winner of a #1 contenders’ match between COBIAN and TYLER HILTON.
Match #1:  THE FOREIGN EXCHANGE (MUSTAFA AZIZ DANIELS & BORIS DRAGOFF, with J.P. CALLAHAN & BABU) pinned COUNTRY STRONG (KEVIN CHESNEY & HOSS HAGOOD) in 7:56.  Chesney, after an initial takedown, finds himself rolled up by Boris for a 2-count.  Kevin recovers with a headlock, arm drag and wristlock.  Both partners tag in.  Hoss’s clotheslines don’t seem to faze the massive Daniels.  Hoss’s further kicks and chops have some effect; but Mustafa punches back.  Hagood can’t pick Mustafa up, and the giant from the Middle East throws the country boy in the corner.  Mustafa covers Hoss by stepping on him but only gets a 2-count.  Dragoff tags in and stomps on Hagood, kicking him to the floor, then delivering a body slam and leg drop, then getting a near fall.  Moving Hoss to a corner, the Russian hits a splash and a standing clothesline, then misses a second splash.  Hagood tags to Chesney, who delivers a series of clotheslines and a drop kick, then covering Dragoff for a 2-count as Daniels makes the save.  Mustafa tags in and this time does get slammed by Hagood.  Manager Callahan distracts Hoss, who is then thrown out of the ring by Boris.  Meanwhile, concerning the two legal men in the ring, Mustafa works over Kevin, who gets free.  Chesney then tries for a body block off the ropes; but he is tripped by Callahan from the outside.  Daniels falls on him for the 3-count.

Match #2:  OLIVER GRIMSLEY won the MCW Rage TV championship from RONNIE ZUKKO (with JESSIE KAYE) in 7:14.  At the start it is all Grimsley:  a wristlock accented by biting, a nipple haul (yes, you read that right) and series of drop kicks.  The cornered Ronnie must leave the ring to catch his breath.  Zukko re-enters, dislodging Oliver from his perch on the ropes, thrusting his back into the mat.  He then chokes Grimsley on the middle rope.  The two exchange Flair chops.  A Zukko forearm smash sends Grimsley to the mat where the champ gets a 2-count.  Zukko does a hair haul, then slingshots Grimsley off the top rope.  Oliver follows with a DDT.  A double clothesline sends both to the mat as CANDIE enters the picture, carrying a balloon.  Grimsley recovers and gets a 2-count after a drop kick and top rope body press.  He gets another near fall after a tilt-a-whirl and flying thrust slam.  Oliver tries a double-under hook suplex but is foiled by Ronnie who turns it into his own neck breaker.  Zukko then turns his attention to his ex-significant other Candied, who offers him her balloon.  As Ronnie accepts it, she pops the balloon and some sort of powder goes into Sukkot’s face, blinding him long enough to be caught by Grassley’s double under hook back stabber for the 3-count.  Oliver Grimsley is the new television champion.

For Ronnie, one lost championship down, one to go?

Match #3:  In the MCW Legends match, CAT BURGLAR & "PLAYBOY” BOB STARR pinned THE WINNERS' CIRCLE (ALEXANDER JAMES & CHRIS CLOW, with DR. TONY DANIELS, Ph.D.) in 8 minutes.  Fans get on the kilt-clad Clow right away, serenading him with anti-Canada chants.  I don’t get it, either. The only thing I can think of is that they know Roddy Piper was born in Canada.   A stipulation has been added to this match:  whoever loses the fall must leave MCW.  Early brawling sends the Winners Circle to the outside; but they quickly recoup, with Chris cornering Starr and delivering eye gouges, kicks and knees before getting a 1-count.  Cat Burglar, making his first appearance in this millennium, makes the hot tag and scores a near fall.  Clow tags to James, who stomps on Cat before tagging back to Clow, who rolls up the Burglar for a 2-count.  Both wrestlers make tags.  Starr clotheslines Clow out of the ring while Cat pins Alex.  Alexander James has wrestled his last match for Maryland Championship Wrestling.

Match #4:  In a #1 contenders match, with the winner facing RONNIE ZUKKO for the heavyweight championship later in the card, COBIAN and TYLER HILTON pinned each other in 2:02.  Cobian takes the early offensive, with shoulder blocks, elbows and a standing clothesline before Hilton counters with punches.   Then there is a double clothesline with each wrestler lying flat on the mat with his arm covering the other.  It was announced that since a double pin was scored, both Hilton and Cobian would meet Zukko for the title in a three-way match.

After the intermission, as AL ALBERT prepares to announce the next match, former MCW wrestler ADAM FLASH, who along with TWO MASKED INTRUDERS had caused so many problems during his invasion of the last television show, wrests the microphone from Al.  Adam says that “a man” is paying him “to ruin MCW shows”.  MCW co-owner DAN McDEVITT, who has had heat with Flash going back to the mid-1990’s, says that he is getting pretty tired of this “bounty-hunting” thing.  He says that since Flash is in the ring, that must mean he wants to wrestle.  If Adam refuses, Dan will ask the Maryland State Athletic Commission (represented by the extremely ageless LOU LEAVEY) to suspend Adam’s wrestling license.  So Flash, in his street clothes, is going to face the S.W.A.G.man (not a “Waltzing Matilda” reference but rather my acronym for Samoan With A Grudge).

Match #5:  NUI TOFIGA beat ADAM FLASH by disqualification in 4:31.  Flash attacks Tofiga before Nui can enter the ring; but Nui counters with chops and smashes that force Adam into a corner.  Nui head butts Adam to the ground, and when Adam gets up, he gets chopped down again.  Then there are more slashes and head butts, then a toehold, then a 2-count from Tofiga.  Flash dodges a Tofiga splash attempt and tries in vain to clothesline the big Samoan.  A drop kick to the legs finally fells Nui.  Adam recovers from his backfiring head-butt attempt and resorts to choking and eye gouges.  Flash kicks Nui in the gut and slingshots him off the rope.  Nui retaliates with a super kick and flying head-butt.  He has Flash up for a Samoan drop; but before he can execute it those TWO MASKED BOUNTY HUNTERS (not to be confused with Max Thrasher, the unmasked “Bounty Hunter” of decades past) invade the ring and attack Nui.  The referee quickly calls for the bell and awards the match to Tofiga.

Match #6:  NAPALM BOMB pinned MITCH MILLER in 3:57.  “U.S.A.” chants, spears, chops, kicks, a 180º top-rope splash, and that’s all, folks!

After the match, DOC DANIELS greets the defeated Miller as he leaves the ring, with Mitch eerily following Doc back to the locker room area.

Match #7:  FED UP (C-FED & G-FED) and BUCK CHILD pinned BLACK WALLSTREET (MARCUS STREETS & DROLIX) & CHUCK LENNOX in 9:54.  The match is originally a tag-team championship match between the champs FU and challengers BW; but this degenerates quickly into uncontrollable brawling as Lennox continues to interfere from the outside.  The champs make a strategic retreat to the lockers, and then come back with Buck Child, and we now have a six-man.  Fed Up immediately puts Streets into a slice-and-dice situation, with Buck following that up with a flying shoulder block, body slam and savate kick.  G-Fed chops Streets, who retaliates with a kick of his own.  G finds himself in the wrong corner as the Wallstreet guys double- and triple-team him.  Marcus hits a neck breaker and Drolix follows with karate chops before he choke slams poor G-Fed on the ropes.  The referee doesn’t see Buck tag in, and G is again triple-teamed as the ref is occupied with keeping Buck and C-Fed in their corner.  Lennox and Drolix hand over G-Fed to Streets, who gets a 2-count after a sit-in.  Streets gouges and kicks, then tags to Drolix.  A double clothesline has both wrestlers woozy.  Child finally tags in and cleans house with the help of C-Fed and eventually, a recovered G-Fed.  Buck bulldogs Lennox and then covers for the 3-count.

Match #8: The three-way MCW heavyweight championship match between COBIAN, TYLER HILTON and champion RONNIE ZUKKO (with JESSIE KAYE) ended in no contest.  Cobian charges Hilton and throws him out of the ring.  Ronnie attacks Cobian; but Cobian quickly turns around, kicking and clotheslining Zukko.  Cobian follows with a body slam, elbow drop and 2-count.  After a Cobian spine buster and another clothesline, Zukko punches back.  Cobian recovers, delivering yet another spine buster.  Jessie distracts Cobian, as does Hilton, who has finally mustered up the strength to re-enter the ring.  Cobian, keeping Ronnie at bay with a series of elbows, turns his attention to Hilton, who trips Cobian.  Tyler then offers to work with Zukko in weakening Cobian.  The double teaming of Cobian commences:  Zukko with a choke; Hilton with a chin lock and leg stretcher; Hilton throws Cobian out of the ring; Zukko slams Cobian off the ringside barrier; Hilton bounces Cobian off the ring post; Zukko stomps and punches Cobian outside the ring; Hilton throws Cobian back in the ring; Zukko with an elbow drop; Hilton with a knee drop; Zukko throws Cobian back out of the ring.  (If I were being paid by how many semicolons I used, I’d be on one of Fortune’s “richest people” list.)  The pact is suddenly over:  Tyler schoolboys Ronnie for a 2-count, then gets another two count after a kick to the cojones (not to be confused with 70’s-80’s wrestler sdjones).  Ronnie sets up Hilton for a superplex but can’t pull it off.  Tyler then covers Zukko for a 2-count that is broken up by Cobian.  Cobian choke slams Ronnie but can’t follow it up as Tyler interferes.  Ronnie sets Tyler up for a kill switch; but Cobian breaks that up by spearing both wrestlers.  At this point ADAM FLASH and THOSE TWO MASKED MEN enter the ring and pummel Cobian.  Adam grabs the mike and states “We want to collect the bounty, boy!”, as the masked guys flail away.  Zukko and Jessie have already retreated to the back.  Hilton comes to Cobian’s aid and attacks the Masked Men; but Flash helps turn that into a triple-teaming situation.  Other wrestlers—Napalm Bomb, Nui Tofiga, Hoss Hagood, C-Fed, G-Fed and Oliver Grimsley, among others—come from the back to try to restore order.  DAN McDEVITT enters the fray and goes straight to his arch-enemy Adam Flash, going [primate feces] on him.  Dan takes the mike and says that “for 15 years, this [feces] with Adam Flash has been going on.  For over a year, this bounty stuff has been going on.  On December 30, this whole thing is ending once and for all.”  Adam grabs a chair from ringside but thinks better of it and stays outside.
