NWA Ring Warriors announces first of two title matches for Dec. 14 ‘Inaugural Brawl’ and names

 first four participants for its Grand Championship tournament

(October 15, 2011) Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – NWA Ring Warriors Chief Operations Officer (Talent) Larry Brannon today named the first four participants for the upcoming NWA Ring Warriors Grand Championship tournament, along with the first of two title matches that will be held on December 14th at the Fort Lauderdale National Guard Armory, 400 S.W. 24th Street (State Road 84), as part of the group’s “Inaugural Brawl” event.

The first four competitors named for the tournament are:

• Francisco Ciatso – Having a nice run with Deep South Wrestling a few years ago, Ciatso is best known for being a mainstay of Florida wrestling. Throughout his career he has collected a number of single and tag team titles for such groups as IPW Hardcore, Coastal Championship Wrestling and NWA Florida among others. Several years ago Ciatso participated on the first and only pro wrestling tour of the People’s Republic of China.
• Steve “Moose” Madison – Currently one of the main performers with Wrestling for a Cause out of Tampa, Madison gained a lot of notoriety with NWA Florida early in his career, capturing their heavyweight title. Madison gained prominence with impressive appearances for Ring of Honor, Total Nonstop Action (now Impact Wrestling) and World Wrestling Entertainment, including their Deep South Wrestling and Florida Championship Wrestling development territories. Madison has also wrestled for several Japanese promotions including Big Mouth Loud, Fighting World of Japan Pro Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
• “The VIP” Cassidy Riley – A former NWA Mississippi Heavyweight Champion, former NWA North American Tag Team title holder (with Air Paris), former World Wrestling Council Tag Team title holder (with James Storm) and a 19 time USA Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Champion, Riley is perhaps best known for his five year stint with Impact Wrestling as a member of “The Hotshots” tag team (with Chase Stevens). Riley has also wrestled for the WWE’s ECW brand and Ohio Valley Wrestling development territory.

• Vordell Walker – Once known as “The Shooter,” Walker has been a major force on the independent circuit for several years wrestling for such groups as Georgia Championship Wrestling, Southern Championship Wrestling, AWA World 1 South, Showtime All-Star Wrestling, Rampage Pro Wrestling and NWA Florida. However, he is perhaps best known for his brief appearances with Impact Wrestling and Ring of Honor.

In addition to the NWA Ring Warriors Grand Championship tournament, a highly-anticipated first ever meeting will occur during the “Inaugural Brawl” as current NWA National Heavyweight Champion “The Dark Child” Chance Prophet will put his title on the line against “The Tokyo Monster” Kahagas.

Prophet, who has been a staple of the NWA the last several years, won the title this past February in Franklinville, New Jersey, having defeated Phil Shatter (Impact Wrestling’s Gunner), who held the title for two years. Kahagas recently received a lot of attention when he and a number of wrestling veterans lobbied for him to have a spot in the recently held NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title tournament that was won by Kevin Douglas. Although Kahagas did not participate in the tournament, his actions drew a lot of attention and while he has captured several regional titles throughout his career, a victory over Prophet would give the Tokyo Monster his first prominent NWA title. Prophet previously held the title for five months back in 2007 and was stripped of the belt after he was unable to defend it due to an injury.

Brannon said the remaining four participants of the tournament and other title match that will take place will be announced soon.

(October 21, 2011) Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – NWA Ring Warriors Chief Operations Officer (Talent) Larry Brannon today named the final four participants for the upcoming NWA Ring Warriors Grand Championship tournament, scheduled to kick off on December 14th at the Fort Lauderdale National Guard Armory, 400 S.W. 24th Street (State Road 84), as part of the group’s “Inaugural Brawl” event.

• Wes Brisco – If family lineage is a factor in determining who will wrestle their way to the Grand Championship, then Brisco would have the edge. Growing up in Tampa, Fla., he watched his WWE Hall of Fame father and uncle, Gerry and Jack Brisco, claim countless titles not only in the Sunshine State, but across the globe, including the NWA World Junior and NWA World Heavyweight titles respectively. With a strong amateur wrestling background, Brisco has also had his share of success in the pro ranks as he won the Florida Tag Team Championship in 2010 with his partner, Xavier Woods, for the World Wrestling Entertainment’s Florida Championship Wrestling development territory.
• J.D. Maverick – As the lone Canadian in the tournament, Maverick has been a lifelong athlete, performing more than 10 years in the squared circle for almost 60 wrestling organizations across North America and Europe. Included in that run has been a two year stint with the WWE's Ohio Valley Wrestling development territory. Maverick has held nearly a dozen regional titles throughout his career, including the OVW Television Title and OVW Tag Titles twice. Maverick has also worked several matches for WWE, including a highly competitive contest in 2010 against current WWE kingpin Alberto Del Rio.
• “The Marquee” Bruce Santee – Another Florida native who calls St. Petersburg his home, Santee made his pro wrestling debut in 2000 and since 2005 has been one of the Sunshine State’s marquee performers; thus his nickname. Aside from being a former NWA Florida Heavyweight and NWA Florida Tag Team Champion, the 6-foot 4-inch 245-pound Santee has competed for virtually every major Florida promotion including AWA World 1 South, Full Impact Pro Wrestling and IPW Hardcore, has performed in the Dominican Republic for Dominican Wrestling Entertainment and has been featured on Total Non-Stop Action (now Impact Wrestling).
• The Giant Titan – At 7-feet tall and 318 pounds, this menacing figure has not only wrestled across the Sunshine State where he dominates his opponents, but throughout the Caribbean (Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago), in Mexico, Canada and Japan where he has competed for New Japan Pro Wrestling, Hustle and Zero-One. Born in Japan, but of American heritage, Titan not only has a strong wrestling background, but he is trained in both kickboxing and jiu-jitsu. Initially trained by pro wrestling legend Dory Funk, Jr., Titan has also wrestled for the WWE’s Florida Championship Wrestling development territory.

With Brisco, Maverick, Santee and Titan, the eight man field is now complete as they will join the previously announced foursome of Francisco Ciatso, Steve “Moose” Madison, “The VIP” Cassidy Riley and Vordell Walker in the tournament. 

In addition to naming the final four tournament combatants, Brannon also said one more match for the “Inaugural Brawl” will soon be announced and that it will be another major NWA title bout. While Brannon offered no hints on which title might be defended on the card, he did say he was wrapping up negotiations and hopes to get final confirmation from the match opponents “any minute now.” It should be noted that Brannon has gone on public record stating that NWA Ring Warriors will be proactive in booking all of the NWA’s major title holders at some point.

The NWA Women’s World championship has always been one of the most prestigious belts in wrestling.

With the title currently being held by NWA Top Rope’s Tasha Simone, she has been ready to take on all comers. Be it new comers or seasoned veterans, Simone has never backed down from a fight. But this weekend, Simone will face off against one of her toughest opponents to date in wrestling legend Malia Hosaka.

Hosaka, who is a former NWA Women’s World Champion, is used to having gold around her waist. Simone will have a hard fight with this legend. The fans will see who will walk out as the NWA Women’s World Champion on Saturday night.

NWA Top Rope fans saw last week when Derek Neal successfully defended the NWA Tennessee Junior Heavyweight Championship, however this week the Simply Perfection member will be in a non-title match against Inception’s Kevin “K-Dogg” Jones in singles action.

Psycho Medic made an open challenge to Chris Eckos last week in Lebanon. But with Eckos stealing the victory from Medic, he has issued a statement that if Eckos picks up the victory, Medic will work for Eckos for seven days! Will Medic have a new job next week or will Eckos be walking away with a loss?

After picking up a victory last week, Michael Jablonski announced to the NWA Top Rope crowd that it is his time! He wants to continue with the winning streak at Corsica Joe arena and will face off against Jarrod Crowe in singles action.

In the opening match, it will be a battle of the high-flyers when “impressive” Anthony Wayne will face off against Kevin Dunn.

Also announced, there will be three pre-show matches for the NWA Top Rope fans starting at 7:00 p.m.

Card is subject to change.

NWA Top Rope is located at 220 East High Street in Lebanon, Tennessee, at the Corsica Joe Sports Arena. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with bell time at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10.

Two NWA Full Memberships in Texas

By virtue of a unanimous vote on October 7, 2011 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the National Wrestling Alliance board of directors awarded full membership status to the ownership groups that currently run NWA Houston and NWA World Class (Brownsville, TX).  Both memberships become active immediately. NWA Southwest, which previously managed the entire Texas territory as well as Oklahoma, resigned its NWA membership in late September.

The Houston based membership, which will be known as “NWA Lone Star”, was assigned the Dallas, Fort Worth, Waco, College Station, Galveston, Beaumont and Houston territories, including all neighboring communities.  The current “NWA Houston” promotion’s name will not change, but the promotion will run under the NWA Lone Star umbrella.

The Brownsville based territory consists of their home market along with Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Laredo, Odessa and El Paso, including all neighboring communities.  Like the home promotion in Brownsville, the territory will be known as “NWA World Class”.

The Texas panhandle, which includes Amarillo and Lubbock, will be co-managed by the Lone Star and World Class organizations until further notice.  NWA Amarillo, an NWA Associate Member, will continue to run NWA shows in the Amarillo market.

Shortly after the memberships were approved, NWA Executive Director Robert Trobich offered the following, “The NWA is thrilled with the addition of NWA Lone Star and NWA World Class to our ranks. Both organizations are an excellent combination of business-savvy and wrestling experience. The NWA in Texas has traditionally been the home of multiple promotions and with Lone Star and World Class working together, the eyes of the wrestling world will again be on Texas."

NWA Board of Directors member Bill Behrens added, “Texas wrestling fans will remember that the NWA brand was promoted all over that great State by such legendary promoters as Paul Boesch, Fritz Von Erich (Jack Adkisson) and Dory Funk, Sr, each committed to great shows in their areas.  Now with two promoters joining the NWA, both committed to growing their part of the State, wrestling fans will again have more opportunities to see great NWA wrestling events throughout the entire Longhorn State.
