GQ Money, Famous B and Munchichi Ramirez Fundraise to Funk the Hump
The trio try to raise cash to bring their wrestling styled entertainment to hip-hop
November 17, 2011 -- West Hollywood, CA --- XPW’s GQ Money, UWF’s Famous B and WSX’s referee Munchichi Ramirez take to the stage on Friday, December 2nd, as the opening act for hip-hop funk legends, Digital Underground, and in an effort to make the show a success they have teamed up with RocketHub are are taking their campaign to the internet; making a plea to wrestling fans to throw a little love and support their way; and in return, they’ll offer back some great rewards.
Knowing that their wrestling fan base expands outside the Hollywood area where they are performing, the group, collectively known as Smiley and Friends has decided that by offering some music, posters, and videos of the live event, they may be able to attract some support from some fans that may have bought a ticket if they were in the area. RocketHub is a crowd-sourcing system, where acts and individuals can reach out to people for help and support in a project, cause or endeavor. Smiley and Friends has decided to launch a project to help support the costs associated with promoting and producing a show.

“It’s tough because everyone sees a cool headline act, and they think man they made, but that’s not really the case as there is a lot of hard work and cost associated with making these events happen,” explains GQ Money, who goes by the nickname Smiley outside the wrestling ring. “Posters, flyers, stickers, online ads, driving to drop off tickets, and really so much more. Then add to that the fact that I’m a crazy wrestling guy, so that means, this show I want to bring a table in to the mix.”
It may seem odd, but outside the box odd thinking is what GQ Money has always been about; similar to the outrageous, fun and slightly off kilter lead singer of Digital Underground, Shock G, or his alter ego and alias, Humpty Hump. Smiley and Friends feel their wrestling background makes them unique in this competitive world of music, and also brings a new unique flavor to their wrestling credentials as well.
“We know that wrestling is what we do, and wrestling fans allow us to live the life that we dream to live,” says GQ Money. “Unfortunately, the way things are, it’s tough to make a living wrestling, and since we’re all entertainers, we thought we would explore our talents elsewhere, and we’ve had a great deal of success doing it. Opening up for Kurits Blow, KRS-One, and now Humpty Hump & Digital Underground. Come on, that’s luck, that’s love, that’s what living the life is about... Making dreams come true.”
Smiley and Friends have managed to secure some great shows in the last couple of months, and in doing so they have brought a little bit of pro wrestling to the hip-hop stage. At the last concert, Famous B hit GQ Money over the head with a guitar, causing GQ to take a wicked bump on stage, and on this show, they say it’s going to be even wilder, and more predictable than the last.
“If GQ expects me to act a fool, he’s out of his mind,” states current UWF wrestling star Famous B. “I know he’s going to get wild, and he’s going to get crazy on this show, so if he does, I’m not afraid to put him in line on stage. That’s my job as the hype man enforcer.”
With the fundraiser ending Friday, the crew is half way there, thanks to the support of 10-supporters and fans so far. They are reaching out to the wrestling community to get them over the hump, and help make this show an amazing event.
“Come on guys, we’re almost there,” plees Munchichi Ramirez. “If you make a donation and say you’re a wrestling fan, we’ll send you a free DVD on top of the listed rewards. AND!!! We’ll send you a video of the performance. Show us some love, share a smile, and lets do the hump together.”
