2011 WRESTLER OF THE YEAR – Nominees for the 2011 SteeltownProWrestling.ca Wrestler of the Year award has been released. Among those nominated: La Sombra, Ike Idol, Matt Fairlane, SYKO, Mike Mission, Spanky, Tommy Lee Curtis, Marius, Mr. Nasty and Jerin Rose. Voting began this week. Previous winners include “Beautiful” Bobby Jay (2008), SYKO (2009) and Big Cliff Corleone (2010).
SPW IN THE SELKIRK JOURNAL – The Selkirk Journal will be running a story in an upcoming edition regarding Steeltown Pro’s January 21st event at the Selkirk Memorial Hall. SPW was last featured in the Selkirk Journal in November for the City of Selkirk Parade of Lights fundraiser.
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD – SPW recently gave “Pitbull” Kerry Brown the SPW Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously. SPW hosts an annual tournament in his name, the Kerry Brown Memorial Tournament. Previous tournament winners include Chi Chi Cruz (2010) and La Sombra (2011).
SPW IN THE VALLEY LEADER – Glenn Hallick from the Valley Leader will be penning an article regarding SPW’s annual show in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. SPW was featured twice in the Valley Leader for its Notre-Dame event last January.
WILD WOMEN OF SPW – The Wild Women of SPW, Ann Brookstone and Mystik Sexton, are getting ready to make their returns to renew their longstanding rivalry in the Steeltown Pro ring. Both made their SPW debuts in August 2010 and were prominently featured on SPW SHOWDOWN on GFL Combat Sports.
CHAMPIONS & CONTENDERS – SPW Heavyweight Champion: “Iron” Ike Idol, #1 Contender: La Sombra; SPW Provincial Champion: “Wild Child” Jerin Rose, #1 Contender: Mr. Nasty; SPW Tag Team Champions: SYKO & Son of Syko, #1 Contenders: “Misfit” Mike Mission & Corey Diamond.
TRIPLE SHOT WEEKEND – SPW will present its second ever triple shot weekend with shows in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes on Friday January 20th, Selkirk on Saturday January 21st and Winnipeg on Sunday January 22nd. SPW’s first triple shot was held last August with stops in Arborg, Selkirk and Winnipeg.
