This Friday night, January 13, New England Championship Wrestling kicks off 2012 with NEW YEAR’S EVOLUTION at the Irish-American Club, 177 West Street, Malden, MA with an 8 PM bell time.
Three championship matches top the bill, including one of the most anticipated main events in NECW history as the new NECW Heavyweight Champion, “The Infamous” Bobby Fish defends his title for the first time against former Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Champion, “Die Hard” Eddie Edwards.
Edwards, who was a 4 time NECW Tag Team Champion and two time NECW IRON 8 Champion, has had a lengthy rivalry with Bobby Fish in NECW dating back to 2007, when the two competitors battled to capture the coveted IRON 8 Championship and Edwards broke Fish’s ankle in the final moments of the tournament. Both men have toured for Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan and are highly regarded athletes. Fish considers his capture of the NECW Heavyweight Championship a mission finally accomplished, while Edwards considers the NECW crown, a title that has eluded him to date, a major piece of unfinished business in his career. Now, nearly 5 years later, these two collide again to settle scores and bring one of the greatest rivalries in company history to a conclusion.
The second championship match is another eagerly anticipated bout, as the new NECW Tag Team Champions, The Dynasty (DC Dillinger & Brian Fury managed
by Sean Gorman) defend the titles against the team of Sean Burke & Matt
Taven. Both Burke and Taven are undefeated in singles competition since joining NECW in 2011. Both have achieved great popularity with the NECW fans. The question is whether they can employ the continuity to work well enough as a team to take down the wily duo of Dillinger and Fury, with Gorman in their corner running interference.
World Women’s Wrestling Champion, Alexxis Neveah has issued an open chgallenge to anyone on the WWW roster to face her this Friday night in a championship match. Alexxis has been undefeated since regaining the title in August 2010. Who will step forward to accept the challenge?
In a special tag team challenge match, the hip hop styled tandem known as All Money Is Legal make their NECW debut taking on former two time NECW Tag Team Champions, The Logan Brothers.
The popular young Japanese star, Taka Suzuki returns to action after suffering an ankle injury to take on Chase Del Monte.
Plus former NECW Heavyweight Champion, “The Real Deal” Brandon Locke battles “The Statement” Elia Markopoulos, manged by “Mr. Fabulous” Tony Ulyssess.
