- African Punishment Wrestling Association will celebrate its fourth anniversary on 27th January 2012 at the Danie van Zyl Recreation Centre in Roodepoort. APWA's first show of 2012, titled "4th Anniversary: Wrestle Madness", will be highlighted by the much-awaited father-versus-son grudge match between new Power Trip Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion Terri Middoux and Zizou Middoux. This issue has become so personal that both Middouxs have requested a no-disqualifications stipulation!
Also on the card, new APWA Heavyweight Champion El Mascarado Mexicano, fresh off his incredible title victory, will defend the championship against a challenger to be announced. The high-flying extraordinaire debuted less than a year ago and has already broken the proverbial glass ceiling. Mascarado is aware that he is now a target, but says 2012 is his year and no one is taking that away from him.
New APWA Tag Team Champions Vaatjie en Japie, consisting of Donovan Loudmouth and Blizzard, are the duo to beat in APWA. They surprised everyone in December when they defeated the more experienced French Connection to win the titles. Loudmouth and Blizzard consider themselves overlooked and have taken on a more aggressive side as of late, aiming to prove that it's the "size of the fight in the dog" that counts.

- On 10 February in Luton, United Kingdom, Zizou Middoux will be taking part in what is arguably the biggest match in his career when he goes up against former ROH, TNA and world-travelled UK star "Wonderkid" Jonny Storm at Power Trip Wrestling's first event of the year. This is sure to be a high-flying smörgåsbord. With Terri Middoux as the current PTW World Heavyweight Champion, he could also be heading up to the UK soon to defend the title. However, anything can happen before then and Terri & Zizou will soon be engaging in a heated battle on 27th January for that very championship. - "The Maniacal" Two-Face reached a landmark in his career by capturing his very first championship last December at a Durban Pro Wrestling event held at the Chatsworth Youth Centre. Two-Face defeated up-and-comer Shadow to become the DPW Inter-Provincial Champion.
- Former APWA Heavyweight Champion Johnny "Iceman" Sabin announced in December that he would be quitting APWA for good after losing the title to El Mascarado Mexicano. Management has been unable to reach him, and it is assumed that he will not be wrestling at the fourth anniversary show on 27th January. Given Sabin's unpredictable and destructive nature, it's impossible to say what will occur next or what he has planned. Almost two years ago, Sabin's takeover of APWA resulted in the JPWA offshoot promotion - if the rumours are true, is the power-hungry Iceman planning to bring the JPWA back, possibly as a separate entity? Or is Sabin migrating elsewhere?
- The second King of Africa tournament is around the corner and is set to begin in February. Last year, 2011 winner Terri Middoux won the tournament in a wild battle royale after the finals between himself and Joe "Bull" Dozer went to a time-limit draw. In what was a controversial matchmaking decision by APWA officials, Joe Dozer still questions the choice by management to not give him a singles rematch instead following the draw. Dozer has another opportunity this year to become King of Africa and do his homeland Nigeria proud, but seven other hungry competitors will be standing in his path to the crown. Near-20-year veteran Terri Middoux had the most successful year out of anyone in APWA in 2011. The reigning King of Africa and current PTW World Heavyweight Champion will certainly be on a confidence high going into this tournament. Terri Middoux and Joe Dozer have been granted automatic entry into this year's King of Africa, while the rest of the quarter-final combatants will need to prove, in competition, that they are deserving of placement.
Current Champions:
APWA Heavyweight Champion - El Mascarado Mexicano
