This past Saturday's Main Event was the most hyped show in All American Pro Wrestling history.
Promoters, staff and wrestlers appeared in local media, international websites and Internet radio shows and podcasts to promote the event.
In the end, all the hype was justified, as AAPW presented a jam-packed supercard of sorts to a record-breaking crowd of 405 screaming fans.
And on that night - one featuring international superstars, the return of women's wrestling and more - history was made in the AAPW ring.
Here's a look at what went down during the show:
Heath Hatton vs. "Golden Boy" Greg Anthony
These two men have come to know each other well through the first season of AAPW's television series "Collision." This match showed that, as they had each other well scouted. In the end, the up-and-coming Heath Hatton scored the victory over his rival with a roll-up pin.
Result: Heath Hatton d. "Golden Boy" Greg Anthony
Pokerface's Open Challenge
AAPW's resident ghetto superstar, undefeated since he debuted in the company, entered the ring, still unsure of just who his opponent would be in. He was in shock when former "WWE Tough Enough" contestant "M-Dogg 20" Matt Cross emerged through the curtain. Cross gave Pokerface his toughest challenge to date, but in the end, the Ghetto Blaster put Cross down and gave Pokerface the victory.
Result: Pokerface d. "M-Dogg 20" Matt Cross
Jay Spade vs. "Farmer" Billy Hills vs. Justice vs. Bull Bronson vs. "Playboy" Paul Rose
This Five-Way Freestyle debuted a new match for AAPW, and unfortunately for Jay Spade, he came into the match an obvious target due to his size disadvantage. Spade's heart, however, could not be measured, as he rose to the challenge against four oversized opponents. At the end of the match, however, it was Bull Bronson who stood tall, as he pinned "Playboy" Paul Rose.
Result: Bull Bronson d. "Playboy" Paul Rose, Justice, "Farmer" Billy Hills and Jay Spade
Mississippi Madman and KC Jackson vs. Roscoe Dwayne Harris and Bull Bronson
With his brother and partner Jimmy Wayne Faygo out sick, Roscoe Dwayne Harris of The Convoy needed a new tag team partner for the night. Seeing Bronson's domination in the previous match, they decided to team up and face the Money Makin' Jam Boys with the No. 1 contendership on the line. This match saw a tease of a battle of the big men between the Mississippi Madman and Bronson, but only one team could prevail, and that would be the Jam Boys, as Harris took the fall for his team.
Result: Mississippi Madman and KC Jackson d. Roscoe Dwayne Harris and Bull Bronson
El Generico vs. PAC
These two international superstars went out to the ring with one intention: To defeat his opponent. The two tried to one-up each other early on, but when they were unable, they would shake hands. But something happened. Generico began getting angrier as the match went on, and the competition heated up. PAC hit a big top-rope move to give him the win, but after the bell, the two men hugged and took a knee in the middle of the ring, the ultimate sign of respect.
Result: PAC d. El Generico
During intermission, Dubray Talman of Missouri Wrestling Revival presented Stacy O'Brien with the MWR Female Wrestler of the Year Award. O'Brien's celebration wouldn't last long, however, as her opponent for the night made her way to the ring to interrupt the festivities.
Stacy O'Brien vs. Rebecca Raze
Rebecca Raze used an early assault on O'Brien during the celebration to gain an early advantage. The women exchanged strikes and moves, with each holding control of the match for a bit. When the final bell rang, though, it was the Irish Catholic schoolgirl O'Brien with her hand - and MWR award - held high.
Result: Stacy O'Brien d. Rebecca Raze
"Boom Boom" Colt Cabana vs. "3G" Eric Wayne
In the early goings of this match, it was apparent Cabana was having fun with opponent. He unleashed his unique brand of offense on Wayne, embarassing the third-generation star in the process. But a second slap sent "3G" into rage mode, and he began assaulting Cabana with everything he had. Cabana made a comeback, coming close to making Wayne tap to the Billy Goat Curse. As he went for his signature Colt .45, Wayne reversed, hitting his own finisher and gaining a victory over the former NWA World Champion.
Result: "3G" Eric Wayne d. "Boom Boom" Colt Cabana
Kevin Hunsperger vs. "The Masterpiece" Mike Masters
AAPW play-by-play commentator Kevin Hunsperger had a look of fear on his face from the time he walked through the curtain. He pleaded with Executive Producer Chris Hagstrom to cancel the match, but there was nothing that could be done. The match started with Hunsperger trying to avoid Masters at all cost, but he couldn't escape forever. Masters continued to beat Hunsperger down, even breaking up his own pin attempts. Masters brought a chair into the ring, and Hagstrom had seen enough, leaving the commentary table to argue with the referee. Jay Spade, who was cheated by Masters in the match that forced this one to happen, emerged from the back, stole the chair and smashed Masters in the head, allowing Hunsperger to score a roll-up.
Result: Kevin Hunsperger d. "The Masterpiece" Mike Masters
No Disqualification Match for the AAPW Heavyweight Championship
Edmund "Livewire" McGuire vs. "Old School Warrior" Ax Allwardt
This may as well have been a handicap match, as Ax Allwardt's manager Gaylord Stevens joined in on attacking the champ. But "Livewire" overcame the odds once again, put away both men and busting out moves that AAPW fans haven't seen from McGuire in a long time. The use of the guardrails and Gaylord's umbrella helped, of course. The champ retained his belt and proved himself a worthy champ once more.
Result: Edmund "Livewire" McGuire d. "Old School Warrior" Ax Allwardt
But that wasn't it. Fans started filing out of the building, but those who left early missed one of the night's shocking surprises.
As McGuire celebrated in the ring with his title, Pokerface snuck in behind him and nailed the champ with the Ghetto Blaster. The night ended with Pokerface's music being played throughout the arena.
