COMBAT ZONE WRESTLING NEWS AND NOTES COMING OUT OF FINAL ECW ARENA EVENT

By Mike Johnson on 1/18/2012 3:14 AM

CZWrestling.com - It was a night of surprises and big news this past Saturday. Find out the quick results below. DVD soon to be available at HybridEnt.TV!

* Greg Excellent started his day in control of CZW by bringing out his "Genie in the Bottle" DJ Hyde and by issuing new employment contracts, including one to himself where DJ Hyde can never fire him, one to Drew Blood, and one to DJ Hyde's FIRST opponent of the evening, WHACKS!

* With an assist from Ref Drew Blood, WHACKS defeated DJ Hyde.

* Ryan McBride pinned Derek Frazier after Frazier inadvertently hit guest referee Rockin' Rebel, who ended up assaulting Frazier after the match.

* AR Fox defeated Uhaa Nation.

* The CZW World Tag Titles Match went to a No Contest after The Runaways interefered in the match with champions Bandido, Jr. and Azrieal as they took on BLK OUT's Ruckus and Alex Colon.

* CZW World Junior Heavyweight champion Sami Callihan retained against Rich Swann.

* In a hard-hitting intergender match, Greg Excellent defeated Mia Yim.

* Danny Havoc brought honorary Nation of Intoxication members Adam Flash, Homicide, Nick Berk, Nate Webb, Messiah, and keg bearer Blue Meanie to say cheers to the Arena...only to be interrupted by the Drew Gulak Campaign for a Better CZW. After Gulak insulted those in the ring, he insulted Havoc's wife, leading to a fight with all involved...and to the next match...

* Drew Gulak targetted Matt Tremont's injured foot, eventually catching Tremont and tapping him out. Havoc came to the ring with Rory Mondo, calling Tremont out for submitting. Havoc told the crowd Mondo and Tremont would finish their Death Match Trial as two of the entrants for Tournament of Death!

* Eddie Kingston defeated Joker.

* For the CZW World Heavyweight Title, in spite of dirty tactics and interference from Cole's girlfriend, Mia Yim, champion Devon Moore retained against Adam Cole!

* In an Ultraviolent Icons Rules Match, current CZW owner DJ Hyde cheated to defeat John Zandig...which didn't stop Zandig from putting Hyde through a steel chair and glass contraption at ringside!

But, that wasn't all CZW had in store before the door on the Arena possibly swung its doors closed to wrestling for the last time!

As Extreme icons Joey Styles, "Pitbull" Gary Wolfe, JT Smith, and original founder Tod Gordon closed the night to say goodbye to the Arena, DJ Hyde hit the ring reminding everyone that CZW had more events in the Arena than ECW, leading to a fight between the icons and members of the CZW Locker Room, Matt Tremont, Alexander James, Stephon Strickland, Drew Gulak, and Kid Osborne...until New Jack and SABU came to the save...but Extreme icon and CZW alum Justin Credible joined team CZW...leading to a match between Credible and Sabu!

After Sabu defeated Credible, Sami Callihan ran to the ring. CZWrestling.com has a full review of what Sami did to Sabu and to close out "his" building. How will this effect Sami's match with Tommy Dreamer on February 4 in Indianapolis, IN?
