STEELTOWN PRO NEWS BULLETIN (01/27/12)
RAISING THE STAKES 2012 – The 4th annual Raising the Stakes is scheduled for Sunday February 19th at the Royal Canadian Legion at 1335 Main Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Tickets are $12 at the door; doors open at 6PM with a 7PM bell time. Raising the Stakes is SPW’s marquee event for the month of February.
FIRST SPW WOMEN’S CHAMPION CROWNED – After a one night tournament on January 20th, CAC Future Legend Award nominee Ann Brookstone became the first ever SPW Women’s Champion defeating Mystik Sexton in the tournament finals. Brookstone successfully defended the championship on January 21st but Sexton went on to defeat Brookstone on January 22nd to win the championship.
NEW SINGLES CHAMPIONS – January 21st saw both SPW singles championships change hands when Marius defeated “Wild Child” Jerin Rose to win the SPW Provincial Title. In the main event La Sombra defeated “Iron” Ike Idol to capture the SPW Heavyweight Title in a Casket Match. Both men successfully defended their championships on January 22nd.
CHANGING OF THE GUARD? – SPW officials have made note of the number of younger wrestlers that have begun taking steps forward in becoming major players within the Steeltown Pro ranks. Several wrestlers are beginning to step up in an effort to become a focal point in the main event and championship title scene. Could 2012 represent a natural evolution into the next chapter of the SPW history book?
FIRST EVER SPW TRIPLE CROWN WINNER – La Sombra became the first man in SPW’s near 5 year history to become a Triple Crown Winner having won the SPW Provincial Championship, Tag Team Championships and Heavyweight Championship. La Sombra also won the 2011 Red River Rumble, 2011 Kerry Brown Memorial Tournament and 2011 Christmas Battle Bowl.
