Welcome to the first edition of 2CW’s newsletter. It’s a brand new idea that was presented to 2CW management to spread the news about PWInsider.com’s Top Independent Wrestling Promotion of 2011. This will be a weekly newsletter presented through 2CW.com This newsletter will be released every Monday via 2CW.com. There will be up-to-date information on the upcoming shows. We will present you with more information on your favorite 2CW wrestlers and also be looking at the six-year history of Squared Circle Wrestling with show reviews starting with the very first show, Living on the Edge, as well as this month in history segments as well.  In future editions, we will have a Q & A section, to give the fans an outlet to ask the questions they haven’t had a chance elsewhere to ask.  We will preview new merchandise that will be released at future shows, and provide as much information about late-breaking news in 2CW as possible.  I will be looking for your feedback and ideas, so feel free to send those in as they come to you. All the contact information will be at the bottom of this newsletter. We do appreciate all our loyal fans and our newer fans for checking out this newsletter, and hope to make this as much for the fans as it is about the fans.

Show Reviews (Every-other week segment)

Living on the Edge I
Syracuse, NY
April 8, 2006
The opening contest saw "The Ladies Man" Gregory Edwards face Ajax of All Money is Legal. K-Pusha and Dizzie of AMIL accompanied their boy to the ring and saw him score a victory over the much larger Edwards.

The second match featured a battle of extra-national wrestling styles as the Puroresu influence Isys Ephex battled 2CW's resident Luchador Loca Vida. This match had something for every fan from fast paced mat work, high flying action, and hard strikes. Isys Ephex recovered from a devastating hurracanrana to the outside to score with a crippling burning hammer for the 1..2..3.

The world renowned Violet Flame competed in the next match against young up and comer Kayla Sparks. Violet Flame took the violence straight to the youngster and showed no sign of relenting. That was until Sparks surprised Violet with a sunset flip for the three count. Violet was none too happy about the loss and took out her frustrations on the young diva.

Much to the chagrin of 2CW management Strangler Steve King made his presence felt at the Pastime Athletic Club. In his tirade he proved just why he is an insurance liability for Squared Circle Wrestling nearly crippling one member of the security staff with a Brainbuster. He left the arena and the fans thought everything was over, but it was not to be. The Strangler returned and choked out yet another member of the 2CW security staff with a crossface chickenwing.

When order was finally restored the JD Love made his way to the ring for his bout with that southern good ole boy Gordy. This match may have won the violence prize for the evening. Referee Keith Harris knew better than to disqualify either of these two grapplers, although he almost threw the match out after a JD Love chairshot. Gordy was able to battle back and almost scored a victory after a sunset flip, but JD Love and his hindquarters proved too much for big Gordy. Love, showing his mile wide mean streak, finished Gordy off with a chokeslam off of the ring apron through a table. The fans in attendance feared for the health of the big southerner, and although he suffered a stinger and mild concussion he was up and walking around at the end of the evening.

After intermission the fans thought they were going to be treated to the musical stylings of Jason Axe. He was not able to even strike his first power chord before Johnny Law made his way to the ring threatening young master Axe with a citation for violating city noise ordinances. This brought out local radio personality Scorch to the ring to run down the law man. Scorch then put all of his eggs in Jason Axe's basket by saying that he would retire from the radio if Johnny Law could score a win over the youngster. Just like that the match was underway and after brief dominance by Law, Axe mounted a comeback. After a Jason Axe dropkick referee Keith Harris went to check on Law and got an eyeful of pepper spray for his troubles which lead to the disqualification of Law and the continued radio presence of Scorch.

In what some consider a five star match All Money is Legal battled the Killer Steves. This was a hotly contested battle as that featured very innovative offense on behalf of AMIL. Almost every fan in attendance thought that the Ocean Cyclone Neckbreaker was going to be lights out for the Steves, but it was not to be for AMIL. The Steves were able to steal a victory after a Superplex Whoopie Cushion combo. AMIL said as they exited the arena to a standing ovation that this was far from over.

All that was left was the main event. Zaquary Springate III had made an enemy of Matt Hyson earlier in the evening and came out with something to prove. Hyson seemed like he was going to succumb to the varied submissions of Springate and was able to battle back with a rib crushing double stomp off the top rope. It seemed all over but the fat lady when Matt Hyson went for the acid drop, but Springate was able to reverse it, grab a handful of trunks and score the three count. Matt Hyson was upset that he, and the fans were robbed a victory for their hero, so he challenged Springate to a "Syracuse Street Fight" when 2CW returns to the Pastime Athletic Club on May 6th.

Wrestler profile

2CW Heavyweight Champion, Jay Freddie
Hometown: Watertown, New York
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 185 lbs.
Jay Freddie debuted in Squared Circle Wrestling in April, 2008. His first match was as the hand-picked tag team partner of Spike Dudley. It was at 2CW’s biggest weekend of the year, Living on the Edge. However, Jay Freddie was certainly known among the fans in 2CW well before that. Freddie was our time-keeper, and then our ringside camera man before stepping into the ring for the first time. An altercation with Max Bauer in Binghamton two months before Living on the Edge was Freddie’s first experience in the 2CW ring.
Since those early beginnings, Jay has become one of 2CW biggest fan favorites. A very heated, extremely personal feud with the former “Main Event”, now “Juggernaut” Jason Axe. Their story is well documented and is certainly not over. In July of 2011, Freddie earned a championship opportunity in his hometown of Watertown, NY, against then champion, “Slyck” Wagner Brown after a unique event the month prior at FUNK U. SWB tried to upstage special guest enforcer Terry Funk and challenged the WWE Hall of Famer to a championship match. Funk initially declined, but “Slyck” went on the attack anyways, leading to The Funker to retaliate with Freddie’s help. Funk was able to inside cradle the champion and earn a three-count from Freddie. Terry took the 2CW title with him that evening, eventually giving the gold to Freddie, naming him the unofficial champion. 2CW would not recognize that championship match, but would agree to give Freddie a title shot the following month at THE BIG EVENT. Freddie would go on to capture the title and live his dream of becoming the 2CW champion that evening in Watertown.
Today, Freddie is going on 7 months with the 2CW title around his waist, having defended the title against such big names as Brodie Lee, Eddie Edwards and Sami Callihan. Is there anyone out there that can stop this young man’s major roll? Anything can happen, and it may happen during the Card is Subject to Change Tour.

This month in history

January 12th and 13th in 2007 was the first double-shot weekend in 2CW’s history. The first night was in Syracuse, NY at the Pastime Athletic Club. The next night was in Rochester, our debut there, at the German House. What made this weekend even more special was the fact that the NWA World Heavyweight Championship was defended on both shows. The 2CW title had yet to be introduced at this point, so this was a major deal for the company. Then NWA World Champion, “TNA’s Monster” Abyss defended on both nights against Spike Dudley. Both matches were anything goes street fights. Abyss would walk away with the champion-ship, but not without knowing he was in a major battle against LSD…”Little” Spike Dudley.
