DONALD CERRONE VS YVES EDWARDS SET FOR MAY
By Joe Lebeau on 2/7/2012 10:15 PM
After a busy 2011, Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone is ready to get back to action in 2012 and has his first opponent of the year.
UFC announced on this evening's edition of UFC Tonight on FUEL TV that Cerrone will fight Yves Edwards in May at UFC on FUEL 3.
Cerrone (17-4) had a busy 2011, as he fought five times in the UFC. "Cowboy" compiled four straight wins and was in the mix in the title picture, before suffering a lopsided unanimous decision loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 141 in December. Edwards (41-18-1), known as the "Thugjitsu Master" most recently competed at The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale in December, dropping a unanimous decision to Tony Ferguson.
Originally expected to be UFC on FX 3, the now announced UFC on FUEL 3 takes place May 15th in Fairfax, Virginia, and includes a middleweight bout between Tom Lawlor and Jason MacDonald, as well as Thiago Silva's return to the UFC after a year suspension, as he takes on Igor Pokrajac.
PWInsiderXTRA will have more on UFC on FUEL 3 as it becomes available.
