“It’s Just My Opinion”

Comparing the Champs’ Runs Daniel Bryan’s current run as World Heavyweight Champion is more impressive than CM Punk’s current run as WWE Champion. What? How? Why? It’s CM PUNK; he’s the “Best in the World!” Here’s how…First, his current run has featured multiple matches involving a couple of four hundred pound guys. Daniel Bryan is lucky to be two hundred and ten pounds. He can only do so much with Mark Henry and Big Show. Creative also booked him in a steel cage match with both men at the Royal Rumble; there’s only so much he can do in a cage with these men. Daniel Bryan has been booked in matches with men that prevent him from showing off the skills he has. We should feel sorry for Bryan, not ostracize him. As for CM Punk, he’s had the LUXURY of working with the cream of the crop over on RAW. Secondly, do you remember when Daniel Bryan won the World title? He was a face. Since then, he’s effectively turned heel, working mainly with a guy who doesn’t get much of a reaction, Big Show. The involvement of AJ has helped the heel turn be more effective. When she told him, “I love you,” and he said he appreciated her, every woman watching instantly turned on Bryan, knowing what she must’ve felt like. So, how did he turn the men against him, too? A lot of it, in my opinion, has to do with his (excellent) celebration every time he wins a match. The obnoxious yelling of “yes” will aggravate every mark into booing him. When you take into consideration that Creative really hasn’t put Bryan in a position to show his excellent ability as they have with CM Punk and factor in the successful heel turn, you’ll agree that what he has accomplished is nothing short of excellent. The World Champion will never receive the accolades that the WWE champ gets because he’s on Smackdown; however, Daniel Bryan deserves to be praised for his current run.Miz getting all the Right and Wrong Heat Typically, a heel wants nothing more than heat; however, when the heat comes behind the curtain, there’s cause for concern. This is the case for the heat that Miz is getting backstage for his botched spot this past Monday on RAW. If you missed it, R-Truth did a flip over the top rope, and Miz did a poor attempt at trying to catch Truth. This subsequently caused Truth’s head to bounce off the ground outside the ring. I instantly thought Truth would have a concussion. Luckily, Truth is okay is back to working house shows. Miz got an earful from Triple H when he made it to the back following the main-event, which he deserves. Before Monday, the report making the rounds on the Internet was that Miz was being blamed for the low buyrate for the Survivor Series. Unlike the botched spot, this isn’t really the fault of the Miz. The main-event featured John Cena and The Rock! They should be the ones that get blamed for the buyrate, not Miz. The match was very poorly booked with the finish being practically a foregone conclusion. We all knew that Cena and Rock were going to win because Truth and Miz were made to look like complete garbage heading into the match. Had they been booked prior to the pay-per-view to look more like worthy opponents, more people may have been interested in the match.Come Home Mr. Russo As I write this, there’s a report going around that Vince Russo is no longer the head of Creative for TNA. It’s just my opinion that Russo needs to come home and work for the WWE again. I know there are people reading this that will jump off their computer chair and demand that I never write anything about wrestling ever again. These same people will point to the “Attitude Era” as the glory days and wish wrestling would go back to that. Well, here’s the best chance for that to happen. Russo was as much of the reason for the success in the 90’s as was Steve Austin, The Rock, Mankind, and everyone else. The Russo detractors have said that he was only good when Vince McMahon oversaw what he was writing. Well, how convenient -- McMahon would still be overseeing everything that Russo would be writing. Russo understands the entertainment aspect as well as the wrestling aspect which the current Creative in WWE tends to forget about (watch last week’s RAW). Come home, Mr. Russo. That’s just my opinion.
