LOOKING AT THE RETURN OF BRODUS CLAY, THE MIZ' MISERY AND MORE

By Ford Denny on 3/13/2012 7:14 PM
THE MIZ LOSES, YET AGAIN

I thought, for ONE brief moment, that The Miz was going to win on Monday. Granted, I figured it would've happened by Chris Jericho getting involved, and yet the WWE couldn't even give Miz a win that way. The Miz instead tapped cleanly to CM Punk right in the middle of the ring. This cannot still be because of the buyrates and botch moves, or does the WWE have something BIG planned for him? Let him have this losing streak and blowing the opportunity to be on the WrestleMania card just so he can comeback BIG. Right?

The reason I have this thought: Michael Cole continues to say that “That the Miz is just in a slump.” So how can he get out of this slump? He's apparently off the WrestleMania card now, so what can Miz do to right the ship? Simple. Make an IMPACT (no pun intended, really. Really? Really? Really!). He needs to leave a mark on 'Mania, and I don't mean a skid mark. Miz needs to do something BIG where we least expect him. It has to be either the WWE title, World title, or Rock/Cena main-event. I got a tweet from @TheMichaelRiba stating that while highly unlikely, he can see Miz getting involved in The Rock v John Cena main-event. I ask this: is that really unlikely?

Miz was in the middle of Rock/Cena last year at WrestleMania 27. Remember, it was Rock's involvement that helped Miz beat Cena. It was Miz who felt he was being “overlooked” by Rock and Cena at Survivor Series. With all that being typed, is Miz getting involved with Rock/Cena really that unlikely? I didn't think so.

THE FUNK IS BACK

Brodus Clay returned from his several week hiatus on RAW last night to face yet another squash opponent, Jinder Mahal. The crowd seemed to enjoy it. I most certainly enjoyed it. I haven't written about Brodus Clay, but I like the gimmick. I think it's something different from big men. In a world of WWE, where every big man seems to be the same, Brodus Clay is different. I've seen people on the Internet hate all over the character, then turn around and say that everything is the same. WHAT? That just blew my mind, and I'm typing this, so I'm sure your mind was blown.

Brodus Clay is big, semi-agile, and is different. Can't we just embrace the Funk? Then, I realize that you cannot make everyone happy. Some will like Clay, others won't, but at least there's some reaction to him. How many times have guys come through the curtain and we just sat there -- said nothing, did nothing. No bad feelings, no good feelings. However, Clay gets you to either like him or hate him. I'll go out on a limb and say that the people who do not like him are the smarks. Do you know who likes him? The marks. Do you know who will pay Brodus Clay's rent? The marks. Do you know who won't factor into Clay paying his rent on time? The smarks. You get my point. I just wish that the Internet was more receptive sometimes.

Do you know what Clay has been missing? A point. I think it is time for the WWE to get this guy involved in something meaningful, before the marks stop caring.

CM PUNK & I HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON

On RAW, Chris Jericho revealed to the audience that CM Punk was straight edge because his daddy likes to tip them back and be a bad dad. Well, ain't that somethin'! Here I thought Punk and I had nothing in common. I loved this promo by Jericho. Whether it's a work or not, it's great to get more heat on Jericho. Do I know if daddy Punk is a drunk? No. Do I care? No. CM Punk is a grown ass man, and he knows right from wrong. I just enjoyed the promo. Jericho was great in it. The look in his eyes, the tone in his voice -- it was all perfect. I'll type this: it took the Punk/Jericho feud to the next level -- the only 'Mania match to take the next step on RAW. Everything else stayed the same, except the match that should (and hopefully does) steal the show on April 1st.

OTHER RAW OPINIONS:
  • LOL Zack Ryder.
  • Have you noticed that VKM has dropped off the Twitter stuff dramatically? I honestly enjoy the Twitter graphics letting me know what is trending. I do not need Cole mentioning Twitter every three minutes. Thanks, VKM.
  • Undertaker, Triple H, & Shawn Michaels all in the ring at once next week. That's 134 years of life on this earth in the ring at the same time, between only three men. They're all too old and need to go away.
  • I asked last week for the Rock concert and Cena rap to be funny and entertaining. It was both. Sure, it didn't progress the feud any, but this feud is already set. Nothing more needs to be added.
  • Mark Madden tweeted that he didn't like any of The Rock concert. Most people didn't like Madden. I like you though, Mark (@MarkMaddenX).
  • Dolph Ziggler needs to win. In fact, Dolph Ziggler needs to be the reason that John Laurinaitis' team WINS at WrestleMania. In fact, a week or two ago, I mentioned that a tag-match between the two general managers at 'Mania would be a likely scenario. In fact, I was right, but then again, who didn't see that coming? In fact, I promise to not use 'in fact' at all in the next column.
  • I'll give this RAW 1 ½ stars out of 5. The marquee says the word "wrestling" before it says "entertainment". Just sayin'.

And that's just my opinion
