Ronin Gets Their Shot The skinny on this long, intense feud It's been over a year in the making and now Ronin will get their shot at the DGUSA Tag Team Titles. It will be Johnny Gargano & Chuck Taylor of Ronin challenging Open The United Gate Champions CIMA & Ricochet this Friday in Miami on the $1.99 live iPPV. There are a lot of issues going into this one. Here is your scorecard: -Ronin of Gargano, Taylor & Rich Swann formed in October 2010 due to feeling snubbed by CIMA, who has never shown them respect. -Taylor and Ricochet are career long rivals, although Ricochet has never defeated Taylor in DGUSA. -If you look carefully at a backstage promo on the Untouchable 2010 DVD you'll see the reactions of Gargano & Taylor when CIMA selects Ricochet as his tag team partner. Now these are the two teams in this match. -Both teams have attacked each other physically. It started with Gargano surprising CIMA with a superkick at Bushido 2010. Since that time CIMA & Ricochet have been part of numerous attacks on Ronin, particularly in January 2010 at United: Philly and one year ago at Open The Ultimate Gate 2011. -There are also issues within Ronin. Originally, Swann was set to team with Taylor. However, Taylor insisted on teaming with DGUSA Champion Johnny Gargano, citing that Gargano has made CIMA tap out. On paper, this gives Ronin a distinct advantage as Taylor has defeated Ricochet on several occasions while Gargano has tapped out CIMA multiple times. -Ronin have been petitioning for a DGUSA Tag Team Title Match against CIMA & Ricochet for months. It was only after the January 29th DGUSA Open The Golden Gate event that CIMA & Ricochet agreed to defend the titles against Ronin. -This match could be the final chapter of the long running feud between Ronin and the last remnants of Blood Warriors. The roots of this can be traced back to July of 2010 when CIMA refused to shake Johnny Gargano's hand. There's the skinny on the issues going into this huge Open The United Gate Title Match this Friday at DGUSA Open The Ultimate Gate 2012 in Miami. This feud has been fought on both an emotional and physical level. Now for the first time it is about a championship. We will finally get a definitive answer on who the better team is and you can watch it on live iPPV for just $1.99. | Ricochet & CIMA | |
