Ronin Gets Their Shot

The skinny on this long, intense feud

It's been over a year in the making and now Ronin will get their shot at the DGUSA Tag Team Titles.

It will be Johnny Gargano & Chuck Taylor of Ronin challenging Open The United Gate Champions CIMA & Ricochet this Friday in Miami on the $1.99 live iPPV. There are a lot of issues going into this one. Here is your scorecard:

-Ronin of Gargano, Taylor & Rich Swann formed in October 2010 due to feeling snubbed by CIMA, who has never shown them respect.

-Taylor and Ricochet are career long rivals, although Ricochet has never defeated Taylor in DGUSA.

-If you look carefully at a backstage promo on the Untouchable 2010 DVD you'll see the reactions of Gargano & Taylor when CIMA selects Ricochet as his tag team partner. Now these are the two teams in this match.

-Both teams have attacked each other physically. It started with Gargano surprising CIMA with a superkick at Bushido 2010. Since that time CIMA & Ricochet have been part of numerous attacks on Ronin, particularly in January 2010 at United: Philly and one year ago at Open The Ultimate Gate 2011.

-There are also issues within Ronin. Originally, Swann was set to team with Taylor. However, Taylor insisted on teaming with DGUSA Champion Johnny Gargano, citing that Gargano has made CIMA tap out. On paper, this gives Ronin a distinct advantage as Taylor has defeated Ricochet on several occasions while Gargano has tapped out CIMA multiple times.

-Ronin have been petitioning for a DGUSA Tag Team Title Match against CIMA & Ricochet for months. It was only after the January 29th DGUSA Open The Golden Gate event that CIMA & Ricochet agreed to defend the titles against Ronin.

-This match could be the final chapter of the long running feud between Ronin and the last remnants of Blood Warriors. The roots of this can be traced back to July of 2010 when CIMA refused to shake Johnny Gargano's hand.

There's the skinny on the issues going into this huge Open The United Gate Title Match this Friday at DGUSA Open The Ultimate Gate 2012 in Miami.

This feud has been fought on both an emotional and physical level. Now for the first time it is about a championship. We will finally get a definitive answer on who the better team is and you can watch it on live iPPV for just $1.99.

Bobby Fish Set For DGUSA Debut

EVOLVE star ready for DGUSA

Bobby Fish has been called by many the face and MVP of EVOLVE. Now this well-traveled, hard-hitting, submission expert comes to Dragon Gate USA.

Fish is set for his DGUSA debut this Thursday in Hollywood, FL. He is jumping right into the fire as he will be opposed by Low Ki.

Fish then heads to Miami this Friday and Saturday. His opponent on Friday is yet to be determined, but we can confirm he is set to face Jon Davis on Saturday.

"This is a long time coming," DGUSA/EVOLVE Co-Founder Gabe Sapolsky said. "Bobby has been one of the best wrestlers in EVOLVE since day one. He has given the promotion some of its most memorable matches. He'll have the opportunity to do the same in DGUSA."

Bobby Fish

Fish has been one of the most determined, emotional and consistent performers in EVOLVE since the very first match in company history.

His EVOLVE contests against Claudio Castagnoli, Chris Hero and Bryan Danielson showcased his heart. His victories over Kyle O'Reilly, Austin Aries and Sami Callihan proved his skill. Now those talents will come to South Beach.

Fish's arrival to DGUSA is yet another benefit of the DGUSA/EVOLVE union. Part of the reason Fish has only competed in EVOLVE at this point was to keep him unique to the EVOLVE brand. However, after the union the two brands share the same roster.

"I'm really excited about coming to DGUSA," Fish said. "I think my style will fit right in. Now there is a lot of new talent for me to test myself against. Low Ki might be the toughest. I'm looking forward to that match. Then Jon Davis better be ready for war after what happened with him and Kevin Steen at EVOLVE 9. I'm ready."

Who Will Breakout In 2012
The answers could come this weekend

Dragon Gate USA and EVOLVE have become THE place for new talent to break out to the next level.

Last year we saw Johnny Gargano, Chuck Taylor, Rich Swann, Ricochet, Brodie Lee, Sami Callihan, Arik Cannon, Jon Davis, Bobby Fish, and AR Fox among others increase their reputations and prestige.

Who will do the same in 2012? The answers will start coming over the Dragon Gate USA tripleshot in Florida this weekend and EVOLVE 11 on April 13th in Toronto. Here's some names, in no particular order, to keep an eye on:

The Mystery Luchador: DGUSA officials immediately signed this man to a contract after seeing a recent performance. They are keeping his identity secret until his debut against Masato Yoshino this Thursday in Hollywood, FL. He will also be on both Miami events, including in the PAC Invitational Aerial Eliminaton Match this Saturday. We might not know who he is, but the fact he was signed so quickly means he has to be impressive. Expectations are high in the DGUSA/EVOLVE office.

Uhaa Nation: He exploded on the scene last Fall. Now is the time for this remarkable athlete to prove that he can climb the card. Nation will get his first main event this Thursday in Hollywood, FL as part of the epic 3-Way Trios Elimination Match. Nation is then set to take on familiar foe AR Fox this Saturday in Miami. This is a great opportunity Nation to show that he is really top of the card material.

The Scene: This team of Caleb Konley & Scott Reed, with Larry Dallas, have been making noise on the undercards at DGUSA and EVOLVE. They even attacked Uhaa Nation. This duo faces perhaps the toughest test in all of wrestling when they step in the ring against CIMA & Masaaki Mochizuki this Thursday in Hollywood, FL. This match could make or break them.

Lince Dorado: This masked competitor last appeared in DGUSA at last year's Wrestlemania weekend events. Now he will return with a golden opportunity. The high-flyer was chosen by PAC to be in the Aerial Elimination Match this Saturday in Miami.

Mike Cruz: He is regarded by DGUSA officials as the top prospect in Florida. This solid all around competitor will have a chance to showcase his skills against Ricochet this Thursday in Hollywood, FL.

Josh Alexander: This competitor has risen up the ranks in Canada's Alpha-1 Wrestling. He will get a chance on EVOLVE's main stage on April 13th in Toronto.

Opportunity is knockin' for all these talents. They are all passionate, hungry and driven. Who will rise from the pack?

Staying the course

There have been rumors that EVOLVE would add a title this year. However, it doesn't look like it'll happen in 2012.

EVOLVE officials held a recent meeting and determined that there would be no champion crowned this year. Instead, more emphasis will be put on the Records and Leader Board.

What is your opinion? Please voice it to EVOLVE on Twitter or Facebook.

EVOLVE returns to action on April 13th in Toronto as part of the WrestleReunion. The double main event has Sami Callihan vs. Fit Finlay and El Generico vs. Low Ki. More matches will be announced in the next Email News Express.
