COMPLETE 2CW LIVING ON THE EDGE 7 WEEKEND RECAP

By Agent Fenton on 4/19/2012 10:29 AM
Squared Circle Wrestling – We’ve only just begun! 2CW’s annual mega event Living on the Edge VII was so much better than advertised. If you were there live, either night, you know what I’m talking about. The intensity, the atmosphere, the action, it was all amazing. The events that transpired over the weekend were awe-inspiring to those in attendance. Let’s start with the events surrounding the 2CW heavyweight championship. 2CW crowned a brand new champion in Watertown in surprise challenger, “Big Rig” Brodie Lee! In a Quadruple Conflict elimination match, Brodie was able to defeat then champion, Jay Freddie, Slyck Wagner Brown and Kevin Steen. The final moments of the match saw Kevin Steen defeated and he rolled to ringside. As the action continued, Brodie caught SWB with the package piledriver and won the 2CW championship for the second time to the surprise of the Watertown fans. This upset Kevin Steen, as that particular finishing maneuver was his. After a verbal exchange between Steen and Lee, Kevin kicked Brodie between the legs, took the 2CW title belt and quickly escaped the building with the belt. The very next night in Rome, Brodie (without the 2CW title) defended his newly won championship against former champion, Jay Freddie, Jason Axe and Matt Milan in a second Quadruple Conflict elimination match. To add even more confusion to the situation, Brodie then got on the microphone and declared that he was forfeiting the championship, because of previous engagements elsewhere wouldn’t allow him to time needed to defend the title anymore. He thanked the crowd, as the crowd thanked him and Brodie Lee left 2CW, possibly forever. That leaves 2CW without a champion…or does it? Kevin Steen declares himself the new 2CW champion via his Twitter account over the weekend, basically claiming that since he has possession of the title, he IS the champion. The offices of Commissioner Harris has declared that the title is indeed vacant, and rumor via his twitter account was that a 16-man tournament could be on its way in the upcoming months here in 2CW. Stay tuned to www.2CW.com for more information going forward with that situation. Also this past weekend was another huge title change, this time in Rome, NY, as the Ring of Honor tag team champions, The Briscoe Brothers defeated First Class to claim the 2CW tag team titles. Immediately after the loss, First Class demanded a rematch, at the huge #75 show in Binghamton, NY as 2CW celebrates its 75th show. The Briscoe’s have already accepted, and the Commissioner Harris has it signed for June 23rd! Speaking of the Briscoe’s, before their big title win in Rome on night two, night one saw them defeat The Olsen’s in a special tag team attraction match. After the contest, Jimmy Olsen turned on his brother Colin, bloodying him up with a torn beer can. This Pearl Harbor job served as the catalyst for the Street Fight we would see between these two brothers in Rome that saw the fight leave the building, and return at the end of the tag team tables match. Colin would eventually get his revenge as he pinned Jimmy after putting him through a table with a splash off the top rope. Tables matches were the topic of discussion leading into our biggest weekend of the year. Both nights of action would see tables matches. The first match being First Class (Punisher VanSlyke, Kevin Graham, and ZS3) against the Degenerates of Society (Sean Carr, Kage and I.B. Greene) in a six-man tag team tables match. DoS would pick up the controversial win, as the original referee Steve McKenzie was taken out of the action. First Class would put both Carr and Kage through tables, but I.B. Greene would put ZS3 through a table on the outside of the ring. Steve Kruz would run in with a referee’s shirt on to replace his fallen tag team partner, only to declare ZS3 through the table and award the match to DoS. First Class’ ZS3 would then challenge I.B. Greene to a loser leaves 2CW match the next night in Rome. That match would see weapons and a bloody skull, and both mens partners would eventually interfere, before ZS3 finally pinned Greene on top of a guard rail to send him packing from 2CW. While I.B. Greene was leaving 2CW, All Money is Legal returned to the match that made them and the Killer Steves famous with LOTE, a tag team tables match. The match was everything a fan could ask for, with the ending seeing “Studly” Steve laid out over two tables bridged between the ring and guardrails, and AMIL using Steve Kruz as the equalizer putting both of them through the tables with a Double Fisherman’s Buster through McKenzie and the tables. As crazy was those tables matches were, the bloodiest and possibly craziest match of the weekend belongs to “Juggernaut” Jason Axe and Isys Ephex. This was a Falls Count Anywhere match, and these two let their feud reach scary heights. Both men bled, but Isys would bleed literally all over the ring and ringside. These two used chairs, thumbtacks, barbed wire, ladders and a broken bottle in this intense and frightening match, where the fall occurred after Jason gave Isys his Fisherman’s bomb through the ladder to the floor. This match was just a mess, and has to be seen to be believed. Well, that could be said about the entire weekend. You HAVE to see these two shows to believe the unbelievable occurrences that happened, and we didn’t even cover The Insurgency and their attempted takeover against Sgt. Slaughter and Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Both nights, Jason Wayne, a Marine who saved the Sarge from a three-on-one attack early into night one, tag team with both Sarge and Hacksaw to defeat the Insurgency and send them packing waiting to fight another day.
