Welcome to the PWInsiderXtra.com live coverage of the Bellator 66 Preliminary Card, live from the X-1 Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

Fight #1: Bellator Featherweight Division Fight: Frank Carabello def. Donny Walker by KO via flying knee strike (2:25, R4) to win the NAAFS Featherweight Title (Note: Fight was joined in progress in Round 4.)

Fight #2 – Bellator Light Heavyweight Division Fight

Dan Spohn (6-1-0) vs. Attila Vegh (24-4-2)

Referee: Gerry Crisp

Round One

The round begins with Spohn attacking Vegh with a side kick to the belly, Spohn follows that up by nailing Vegh with a push kick. Vegh then scores a takedown on Spohn and he gets the closed guard, Vegh then attacks Spohn with some ground and pound. The referee stands up the fighters after inactivity and Spohn nails Vegh with a right, Vegh responds by catching Spohn with a right and a flying knee strike. Vegh then charges at Spohn while attempting various strikes, Spohn attempts a high kick on Vegh as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Spohn nailing a charging Vegh with a short right, Vegh responds by nailing Spohn with a straight right. The fighters then battle for position along the cage wall, Vegh then clobbers Spohn with a knee strike to the head. Spohn tries to keep Vegh at a distance by landing a push kick, Vegh then catches Spohn with a counter right. Vegh follows that up by catching Spohn with an overhand right, Spohn then starts attacking Vegh with leg kicks. Vegh then powers Spohn up against the cage wall, the fighters then struggle for position as Spohn lands a knee strike. The fighters separate as Spohn nails a few push kicks as the round ends.

Round Three

The round begins with Spohn landing a quick leg kick on Vegh, Vegh responds by landing a kick on the rib cage of Spohn. Vegh then charges at Spohn and he lands a solid right, Spohn then lands a kick to the body of Vegh that is followed with a left. Spohn then charges at Vegh while throwing a lot of wild strikes, Spohn then lands a knee strike as they battle along the cage wall. The fighters separate and Spohn catches Vegh with a counter left, Spohn then catches Vegh with a knee after being forced against the cage wall. Spohn then gets popped with a left from Vegh as the split, Spohn then starts taunting Vegh and he eats a push kick as the round ends.

Fight Result: Atilla Vegh def. Dan Spohn by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27)

Fight #3 – Bellator Light Heavyweight Division Fight

John Hawk (6-4-0) vs. Marcus Vanttinen (21-3-0)

Referee: Chad Choclovich

Round One

The round begins with Vanttinen immediately powering Hawk up against the cage wall, they split up and Vanttinen pops Hawk with a right. Hawk then catches an incoming Vanttinen with a left, Vanttinen then catches Hawk with a few kicks to the leg. Vanttinen is quick to pop Hawk with a short left to the jaw, Hawk then lands a left of his own before eating a counter right. Vanttinen then lands a multi-punch combination on Hawk, Hawk then dazes Vanttinen with a punching combination. Hawk then lands a counter punching combo on a charging Vanttinen, Hawk then catches Vanttinen with a right after eating a leg kick. Vanttinen lands a few strikes on Hawk as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Vanttinen quickly nailing Hawk with a straight right, Vanttinen then lands another right after avoiding some strikes from Hawk. Vanttinen then scores a takedown and Hawk immediately applies the guillotine choke, Vanttinen eventually escapes the choke. Vanttinen then quickly transitions to side control on Hawk, Vanttinen then gets the mounted crucifix on Hawk while landing some ground and pound. Hawk uses a scramble and he finds himself on top of Vanttinen, Hawk then advances to the half guard on Vanttinen. Hawk then moves to side control on Vanttinen after escaping an arm bar attempt, the fighters stand up and Hawk scores a takedown on Vanttinen. Hawk quickly gets the half guard on Vanttinen as the round ends.

Round Three

The round begins with Vanttinen nailing Hawk with a multi-punch combination, Vanttinen then starts popping Vanttinen with some jabs. Hawk then nails Vanttinen with an uppercut and some body blows, both fighters then exchange some knee strikes while on the cage wall. Vanttinen then leaps at Hawk while landing a right, Vanttinen then scores a momentary takedown on Hawk. Vanttinen then attempts to pull guard on Hawk and he fails, Vanttinen then lands a knee to the rib cage of Hawk. Hawk then pops Vanttinen with a right uppercut as the round ends.

Fight Result: John Hawk def. Marcus Vanttinen by split decision (30-27, 28-29, 28-29)

Main Event - Bellator Women’s Catchweight Division Fight

Jessica Eye (6-1-0) vs. Anita Rodriguez (5-2-0)

Referee: Jerry Poe

Round One

The round begins with Eye attacking Rodriguez quickly with leg kicks, Eye then catches Rodriguez with a multi-punch combination. Rodriguez then goes for a throw and Eye winds up getting her back on the ground, Rodriguez tries to control Eye with a headlock. Rodriguez then rolls to trap Eye in the half guard position, Eye then quickly advances to side control on Rodriguez. The referee then stands the fighters after inactivity and Eye starting using leg kicks on Rodriguez, Eye then catches Rodriguez with a kick to the rib cage. Rodriguez then scores the takedown on Eye and she gets the closed guard, Rodriguez then transitions to the half guard on Eye. Eye regains the full guard on Rodriguez as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Eye cracking Rodriguez hard with a right, Eye then starts attacking Rodriguez with a lot of leg kicks. Rodriguez then locks in the pro wrestling head lock on Eye, Eye escapes and she powers Rodriguez up against the cage wall. Eye then clobbers Rodriguez with a hard right that is followed with a left, Rodriguez then catches Eye with a right. Both women then just take the opportunity to swing wildly at each other, Eye then starts attacking Rodriguez with more leg kicks. Eye then attacks Rodriguez with more kicks as the round ends.

Round Three

The round begins with Eye resuming her leg kick attacks on Rodriguez, Rodriguez responds by catching Eye with a counter right. Eye then starts peppering Rodriguez with a lot of jabs, Rodriguez then starts landing some kicks of her own. Eye responds by landing a kick to the midsection of Rodriguez, Eye then catches Rodriguez with a two punch combination. Eye then starts attacking Rodriguez with a series of left jabs, Eye then changes it up by attacking Rodriguez with a variety of kicks. Eye then lands a few push kicks on Rodriguez, both women exchange a few knee strikes as the round ends.

Fight Result: Jessica Eye def. Anita Rodriguez by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Post fight interview with Jessica Eye, who says she did not what to expect when entering the cage and she appreciates her hometown crowd.
