Following the card change that saw Frank Mir getting the title shot against UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos after Alistair Overeem’s failed drug test, Cain Velasquez needed a new opponent. That opponent is going to be former Strikeforce heavyweight Antonio Silva, who recently competed in the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix. Velasquez is competing for the first time since losing his UFC Heavyweight Title to Junior Dos Santos at UFC On Fox I. Silva will be making his UFC debut in this fight, following a run to the semi-finals of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix. UFC 146 takes place on May 26th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos defending against Frank Mir in the main event.
