Former Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem has been denied a license following his failed UFC 146 pre-fight drug test. Overeem claimed he took testosterone to deal with a nagging rib injury, but it did not matter in the end. Instead of the usual one year break from being able to apply for a license, the NSAC stated that Overeem would only have to wait nine months. The failed drug test ended up costing Overeem his UFC Heavyweight Title opportunity at UFC 146, an opportunity that has now gone to Frank Mir.
