ANARCHY CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING REPORT

By Mason Scheer on 4/30/2012 2:12 PM

The show kicked off with tag team action: Jordan Jensen and Jojo Bravo of the team Mojo Bravado took on the Submission Squad of Pierre Abernathy and Davey Vega. On this night, the Squad channeled their inner Macho, as they dubbed themselves the St. Louis Mega-Powers. Jensen and Bravo have had issues with Vega in the past, each wanting a shot at his Anarchy World Televised Championship. But on this night, the Mega-Powers prevailed, as Pierre Abernathy made Jordan Jensen submit.

The next match featured former tag team champions and friends turned bitter rivals, as JC Bravo defended his Young Guns U-30 Championship against Chingo Del Santo. Bravo tried his best against the bigger man, but Chingo was too much for Bravo to handle, defeating him and recapturing the U-30 Championship. After the match, Chingo made a vow, saying that he was coming after each and every “main eventer”. During his tirade, Chingo threw the championship on the ground, leaving it in the ring. As of this writing, the status of the newly vacated U-30 Championship is unknown.

In a special challenge match, Ricky Romida squared off against “The Star of Misfortune” Chris Conine, who returned to ACW after last being seen at the Lone Star Classic 2010. The time away from the ring proved to be the downfall of Conine, as Ricky picked up the win. After the match, both men shook hands in a sign of respect.

Next was the eagerly awaited World Hardcore Championship, as champion “Centerfold” Matthew Palmer defended the gold against Rachel Summerlyn, in a first time matchup. These two started in the ring, trading hold for hold, and impressing the crowd with their technical prowess. But eventually, the match turned into a wild brawl, as both competitors threw themselves from the balcony all the way to the center of the ring. What would have stopped lesser competitors, both picked themselves up and continued fighting. Summerlyn looked to seal the victory with a Gory Bomb, but Palmer just barely kicked out. Summerlyn went for a second Gory Bomb, but Palmer countered it into a Snapshot for two. Palmer then climbed to the top rope, hit the Centerfold Splash, and earned the hard-fought victory.

Following that was a Trios match, as the team of ACW Tag Team Champions Lost Boys and Killah Kash challenged Darin Childs, Khris Wolfe, and “Mr. Showtime” Scot Summers. Kash and Summers had been engaged in a war of words over Twitter, while the Lost Boys and Childs & Wolfe were ready to tear each other apart. In the middle of the match, Kash produced a steel pen, and jammed it into the eye of Scot Summers, taking him out of the match for good. But it wasn’t long before longtime teammate and friend Jerry Lynn made his way to the ring, tagged in, and cleaned house. The team of Darin Childs, Khris Wolfe, and Jerry Lynn picked up the victory.

Jerry Lynn decided that since he was in the ring already, now would be as a good a time as any to call out his hand-picked opponent. Since announcing his retirement at the end of the year, Jerry Lynn has focused on the newer generation, and testing them. His chosen opponent for the night was Anarchy World Televised Champion Davey Vega, who seemed just as shocked as the crowd. Both men were within an eyelash of securing the victory, and Lynn was moments away from connecting with a cradle piledriver. However, Evan Gelistico and Gary Jay made their way into the ring, attacking Lynn and securing a win for Davey Vega. Vega was furious about the assist, and shoved the other members of the Submission Squad away.

Back from intermission, the show resumed with a six-man scramble, featuring Gregory James, Bolt Brady, JT LaMotta, Mat Fitchett, Awesome Andy, and Evan Gelistico. The match started in dramatic fashion, as Awesome Andy destroyed the inflatable leprechaun Mat Fitchett brought with him to the ring, ruining his fun. All six rocketed into each other with high-flying action and excitement. Gregory James was eliminated first, followed by JT LaMotta, then Bolt Brady. Fitchett was able to get a measure of revenge against Awesome Andy, eliminating him from the match. But Evan Gelistico was waiting in the shadows, locking Fitchett in the Gateway City Stretch, forcing him to submit.

The next match featured American Joshi action, as Serenity made her Austin debut against the mysterious and supernatural force that is Lady Poison. Serenity did her best to show that she wasn’t afraid of Lady Poison, getting right up in her face and trading blow for blow. But one Poison Kiss later, Serenity was down for the count. After the match, Rachel Summerlyn returned to get revenge against Lady Poison, after months of surprise attacks. After an intense stare down, Rachel nailed Poison with three forearms, sending her staggering. But Poison did not stay down, attacking Summerlyn. Machiko made her way to the ring to help her mentor, but Angel Blue attacked Machiko with the Joshi Championship. Barbi Hayden ran into the ring to make the save, leading into the next match.

Barbie Hayden challenged Angel Blue for the American Joshi Championship. This was another match that turned into a wild brawl almost from the word go. These two Joshi competitors fought tooth and nail all around the ring, and eventually throughout the entire bar of Mohawk, and up across the crowd. Everyone in attendance was on their feet, and Angel Blue stole the victory from Barbi Hayden with a rollup using the tights. After the match, Angel Blue proclaimed herself the greatest American Joshi Champion ever, which led to a surprise return by Portia Perez, who had been out of action since January. Portia promised to bring legitimacy back to the championship, ending with a superkick to cement her return to ACW.

The main event of the evening was a Four-Way Elimination Match, as ACW Heavyweight Champion ACH defended his title against Shawn Vexx, Gary Jay, and Jaykus Plisken. The three challengers in this match immediately set their sights upon ACH, targeting him specifically. But ACH was able to fight back using his speed and agility. Gary Jay and Shawn Vexx, opponents at last March’s event, also targeted each other, while Jaykus Plisken used his pure strength to destroy anything that moved. Jaykus was able to eliminate both Gary Jay and Shawn Vexx, and then started toying with ACH, breaking up his own pinfalls to inflict more punishment to the champion. His cockiness would be his undoing, as ACH was able to counter to a second-rope 450, and pinned Jaykus Plisken to retain the championship. His celebration was short-lived, however, as Plisken attacked ACH after the match, and let him know that he was the first person to actually beat him, he simply chose not to. Just as Jaykus was about to leave the ring, Shawn Vexx returned, and assaulted an already beaten ACH, leaving him a broken mess in a scene very similar to January.
