LEGACY FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 11 PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 5/7/2012 6:47 PM

HDnet is back this coming Friday Night going head to head with Bellator and they do so with a top notch line up. While the televised portion of the card featured a lot of reshuffling, the preliminary card has been the same throughout. The preliminary card will feature a lot of up and coming fighters, along with some top rated local talent.

Kicking off the action is a flyweight division fight as Marcus “The Barber” Dupar (1-1-0) goes up against Bobby Powers (0-0-0). Marcus Dupar is coming off the first victory of his career, defeating Chris Smith at Immortal Kombat Fighting. Bobby Powers will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he has competed five times as an amateur. Professional experience is usually a big factor in these fights, which is why Marcus Dupar pulls out the victory.

Another flyweight division fight is next as Jesus Mendez (0-2-0) will do battle against Andy Sandoval (0-2-0). Jesus Mendez is a Legacy veteran, having suffered a defeat to Cody Williams by submission as Legacy 10. Andy Sandoval has spent his entire career in Legacy, suffering defeats to both Humberto DeLeon and Angel Huerta. This fight is truly a pick ‘em in the end, but it will be the man with the most Legacy experience in Andy Sandoval getting the duke.

We move to the welterweight division next as Lester Batres (0-1-0) competes against Justin Murray (3-2-0). It has been well over a year since Lester Batres last fought, which was a losing effort to Evan Cutts at an International Xtreme Fight association event. Justin Murray has won one of three in Legacy, with the lone victory coming over Patrick Hutton Legacy 1. Neither of these fighters have been active in the last few months, but it will be Justin Murray getting the victory.

Up next is a lightweight division fight as Ray Blodgett (5-1-0) will be in competition against Scotty Juarez (1-0-0). Ray Blodgett is coming off of the first loss of his MMA career, which was to Daniel Pineda at Legacy 6 last August. Scotty Juarez is an undefeated fighter who made his professional debut at a March 2010 Legacy event with a win over David McClung. This fight has the chance to be the show stealer of the prelims, but it will be Ray Blodgett getting the win.

Headlining this portion of the card is a middleweight division as Larry “Tae Kwon” Crowe (5-2-0) faces Samad Mohammed (0-0-0). Larry Crowe has split his four appearances in Legacy, most notably defeating Isaac Villanueva at Legacy 8. Samad Mohammed will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he did compete once as an amateur. This is quite a big test for Samad Mohammed for his MMA debut, which is why Larry Crowe will get the win.
