The crowd was hot as ring announcer Daisy Murder thanked the fans for coming, and explained the rules of the tournament. Millionaire John II then made his way to the ring, to put NWA Coastal on notice that he was in the process of growing his Boardwalk Mafia roster, and was scouting new talent.
The tag team known as The Element made their way to the ring to open the show, and though each match was supposed to be a singles match, XCluse-IM demanded that both he and Johnny Nos be used as a tag team, and worry about individual matches later. And while his/their opponent, Damien Alexander made his way to ringside, he was told that’s he’d need an opponent for this match. Alexander said “GIVE ME ANYONE………”, and soon the very tough Spartan was coming to the ring to work as his partner. Alexander & Spartan would go on to win the match, when Alexander threw his partner into a flying body press, and they were able to secure the win.
The second match saw Kevin “MISTER” Tibbs take on the American Psycho Alex Payne. This match went to a 10 minute draw, with both competitors running through numerous pinning combinations and submission holds. After the time limit expiration, both wrestlers demanded a few more minutes to prove their worth, and they did, after they were offered an additional 3 minutes. After again going to a draw, Commissioner Iron Man Tommy Cairo decided that both Tibbs and Payne would move on to the tournament semi finals.
After the match, the number one contender to the NWA Coastal Heavyweight Title, Bad Boy Danny Pagan came to the ring, and called out Millionaire John II. He demanded a match for the belt, currently held by Patch, and said that he’d put his career up against the title, so if Patch wins the match, Pagan would be forced to retire. No sooner was that match put together, when Pagan was attacked by Vicious Vince Ceres, who BROKE a kendo stick over the back of a helpless Pagan, who was then beaten down by Vince and his manager until the Element made the save.
Bobby Youngblood then took on the popular Hybrid Josh Adams in the next contest. Youngblood seemed cursed from the moment he walked to the ring. It started with the wrong intro music being played, and continued with constant arguing between him and referee Mike Walker. In spite of that, he made a great impression with the fans, though Adams, who countered with his MMA background, ultimately got the win and moved up in the tournament.
Daisy then introduced PWF owner/commissioner Max Vitelli, who announced his all girls show that will take place on June 30th at the Bayville Elks. His major announcement was that appearing on the show that evening would be the PWF debut of the legendary Angel Orsini!
The next contest saw The Reaper Matt Conard defeat the very popular Alex Anthony. Anthony had the crowd behind him the entire match, and took the fight to Conard with a tremendous aerial assault and moves that most workers wouldn’t even attempt. The power of Conard however, is what won the match, and put him into the semi finals.
The final prelim was between Magod Ali, and The Coqui Kid Sebastian Cruz. This proved to be a back and forth battle that had the crowd on their feet as both workers threw pinning combinations at each other like one has never seen. Cruz ultimately won this battle, but it appears that there may be a new rivalry brewing between these two evenly matched wrestlers.
After a brief intermission, Daisy introduced Iron Man Tommy Cairo, who thanked the fans for coming, and reminded everyone that they can vote for their favorite worker from the evening on the NWA Coastal website, and he top 3 vote getters will be signed to a Coastal contract. He also thanked Mario Savoldi and his NWA On Fire group for taping this show for their TV show, which is syndicated in over 30 markets.
The next round of the tournament was a four way, and it was announced that due to the magnitude of the match, there would be NO disqualifications. Sebastian Cruz then bested Damien Alexander, Hybrid Josh Adams, and Alex Payne to become one of the tournament finalists.
Kevin Tibbs then defeated both Spartan and Conard in a WILD match to earn his spot as the other semi finalist. Finally, in the main even (guest refereed by former ECW original the Equalizer) Kevin Tibbs defeated Sebastian Cruz, and will face Ricky Reyes for the NWA Coastal Iron Man title on August 4th. More info on this show will be announced in the coming weeks.
