If you follow Mark Madden (@MarkMaddenX) on Twitter he's been tweeting for a while now that WrestleMania 29 should feature Austin vs. Punk. I believe he even wrote a column on another site with a mock-up about how he would book it. Just day he tweeted the following:
Lesnar's main event at Mania has 2b Austin, Rock or 'Taker. Only options. WHO'S GOING TO STOP BROCK LESNAR?!
1 issue at Mania must be: WHO CAN STOP BROCK LESNAR?! Who fits the role? A cartoon character like Taker? That's wut he is, ya know. Old, 2.
I think I have the answer: The Rock needs to take on Brock Lesnar. Every WrestleMania main-event needs a headline, so this one could be: "Retribution or Destruction", or something along those lines. Can The Rock get retribution from the loss he suffered against Brock Lesnar back at SummerSlam 2002 (which took place in Uniondale, New York, which is close to NJ)? Or will Brock continue his destruction on the WWE? Let's assume that Brock beats Triple H, as he should, then Brock would have to run the table on the WWE roster for several months. Does this include a title run? Sure, why not? So, let's say Brock becomes WWE Champion, The Rock said at his last WWE appearance that he was going to go after the WWE title. So who better than to challenge Brock for the WWE title at WrestleMania? The Rock is the same guy Brock beat to become the youngest WWE champion of all-time. Both superstars left the WWE for years, only to comeback, and turn the "universe" on its head.
Mark Madden also tweeted this:
Mania isn't about 5-star matches. It's about star power &resolving issues. Austin& Punk have STAR POWER. But where's the issue? Both faces.
Focusing on the first part of that tweet, no one on the WWE roster has a worldwide drawing power like The Rock and Brock Lesnar, period. They almost HAVE to be the ones who go one-on-one next April. The sizzle is does The Rock get his revenge or does Lesnar continue to roll; the steak is the match these two beasts can put on. In my eyes, this is the obvious choice.
TWITTER SPEAKS
I'm very active on Twitter (@FordPWInsider) on Monday and Thursday nights. Well, any night for that matter, but I focus on Twitter those two nights of the week. I welcome tweets from other fans who ask for my opinion or who just have something to say. I also ask for feedback on my columns as well. Here are just a couple tweets that were sent during/after RAW on Monday night:
@TheMichaelRiba: What is your opinion on Ryback? I can't recall if you've covered him in a column
My response: He's just another juicer. I'm just not sold in Goldberg lite just yet.
@Dfnrey: What's more likely to happen in the next 2 years, Kofi wins WWE title or X Division title?
My response: X-Division
Now, here's the feedback for my column that was posted on Tuesday about John Cena jumping to TNA (if you didn't read it, click here )
@Jules_Dixon: I can see where you are right about it, but it won't happen... WWE wouldn't let it... He keeps the kids there.
@Jules_Dixon Hogan has/had more, for lack of a better term, ego than Cena has... Cena is a company man, he likes where he is.
My response: She's right, sort of. The WWE wouldn't have much of a choice if he signed there as a free-agent, however, they would do everything in their power to make sure that didn't happen. She's also right about Hulk Hogan's ego, but I'm not saying Cena would leave for more money. I'm saying Cena would leave because he would be burnt out with the WWE. He's been running hard for a longtime now (same as Hogan), has been "the man" for a while (same as Hogan), and would welcome a lighter schedule (same as Hogan, except he also made a LOT more money in wCw for appearances). My whole point was, in my head, Cena would make the move for a change, not for financial gain.
@Animated_NC Yep, sure did. Interesting thoughts on Cena but I don't see it happening. As you said though " Never say never"
@TheMichaelRiba Yet another interesting article. I agree with the main points of Cena and TNA being better. And of course Ziggler.
My response: "Never say never"
