The first round of the 2012 American Joshi Queen of Queens Tournament kicked off with the first round match of last year’s finalist Athena taking on Su Yung in her first appearance in the Queen of Queens. Both competitors have a fierce history with each other, when Yung faked an ankle injury when they last met in May to goad Athena into a rollup victory. This time around, Athena was prepared not to be suckered in again when it appeared Yung went down with another injury. Athena threw Yung back into the ring, and made her submit to advance to the next round.
The next first round match featured the ACW debut of Veda Scott squaring off with Christina Von Eerie, who made a strong impact in last year’s tournament. Before the match began, Scott took the microphone and attempted to “interview” Von Eerie about her “thoughts on losing yet again”. Von Eerie would make Veda Scott pay for her bold claims, putting her away with the 138+ to advance to the next round. Despite losing, the crowd started a “please come back” chant for Scott, the first of many as the night progressed.
The third first round match featured last year’s winner Rachel Summerlyn against former WWE Women’s Champion and ECW star Jazz, making her debut for Anarchy. The crowd instantly came unglued for this match, constantly chanting for both superstars. Jazz took control of the action early, stretching Summerlyn out with a series of submissions that bent her body every which way. But in the end, Summerlyn was able to prevail, nailing Jazz the Gory Bomb to advance to the next round. After the match, both Jazz and Summerlyn shook hands and hugged, as the crowd once again chanted “please come back”.
Before the final first round match, and while Rachel Summerlyn was still in the ring, Lady Poison made her way into the ring to attack Summerlyn, hitting her with the Poison Kiss. Jessicka Havok made the save, and the Zombie vs. Zombie Killer match was on. Lady Poison kept a watchful eye on Rachel, who was laid out on the outside. Havok wore a gasmask to neutralize the Poison Kiss, and Lady Poison attempted to pull the mask off. Once the mask was finally off, Lady Poison was about to hit Havok with the Poison Kiss, but she was distracted by a limping away Summerlyn. With Poison distracted, Havok rolled Poison up for the three count, and advancing to the next round.
In a break from tournament action, Matthew Palmer defended his World Hardcore Championship against Rodney Mack, in a “White Boy Challenge”. Mack was in control of Palmer, overpowering him and throwing him across the ring. But Palmer fought back with a superkick, getting the three count to retain the championship.
In a 4 Way Tag Team Dance, ACW Tag Team Champions Darin Childs & Khris Wolfe – the Dream Warriors – defended their titles against The Lost Boys, The Electric Company, and Mojo Bravado. All eight men took turns beating each other, utilizing their tag team partners for double team maneuvers. In the end, the Dream Warriors survived, last eliminating the Lost Boys, to retain the championships.
Back from intermission, the first semi-final match featured Athena taking on Christina Von Eerie. The action spilled all the way to the outside, and Von Eerie attempted to nail Athena in the face with a serving tray. But Athena was able to counter, and ended up sending a chair into the face of Von Eerie, busting her open. Back inside the ring, Athena was able to counter the 138+, send Von Eerie into the post, and nail a woozy Von Eerie with the O Face, securing the victory and a repeat visit to the finals. As Christina Von Eerie made her way to the back, the crowd once again chanted “please come back”.
The next semi-final match saw Rachel Summerlyn, still shaken from the post-match attack by Lady Poison, squaring off against Jessicka Havok. Havok, full of confidence after defeating the Zombie, brought out a different side to her, and immediately began attacking Summerlyn with no remorse. Havok showcased her sadistic side, clawing Summerlyn in the stomach and taunting her the entire match. Havok nailed Summerlyn with the Demon Drop, and secured her place in the finals against Athena.
In non-tournament action, Angel Blue defended her American Joshi Championship against Portia Perez. Perez has had her eyes focused on Blue since returning in April, wanting to restore honor and dignity to the Joshi Championship, and to prove that she has changed her cheating ways. After an intense struggle, Blue attempted to nail Perez with the Joshi Championship. Perez ducked, and hit Blue with the superkick. Blue got the shoulder up at two, which caused Portia to slightly relapse and contemplate hitting Blue with the title. She shook off the thought, and called for another superkick. Before she could strike, a video started to play on the television. It was Portia’s sister playing in the park with her child, and Robert Evans’ voice could be heard saying he wished he could be there, but had to be somewhere else. With Portia distracted, Blue was able to capitalize and retain her championship.
In a special challenge match, Jack Jameson came to the ring. He wanted to make a name for himself, and called out “the baddest motherfucker in the back”. In a surprise, the team of Mojo Bravado answered the challenge. Jameson did his best to fight them off, but the numbers game was too much. After disposing Jameson, Jojo Bravo and Jorden Jensen called out Matthew Palmer, who made his way ringside. “The Centerfold” took the microphone, and declared that he didn’t come alone. This brought out “Mr. Showtime” Scot Summers, fresh off the plane after competing in CZW Tournament of Death. Palmer and Summers attacked Mojo Bravado, nailing them with every move in the book. After sending them to the back, Summers called out Darin Childs and Khris Wolfe, saying that soon the match needs to happen between the Dream Warriors and the Kings of the Underground.
The main event saw Athena take on Jessicka Havok in the finals of the 2012 Queen of Queens Tournament. Both competitors gave it their all in a wild brawl that spilled to the outside. Havok berated Athena in a similar fashion she did Summerlyn earlier in the night, and attacked with steel chairs on the outside. Havok set up a table out of chairs, and attempted to slam Athena into them. But Athena fought back, sending several chairs directly into the face of Havok. With Havok woozy, Athena climbed to the top rope, and nailed Havok with the O Face to the outside and across the chair table. Athena rolled Havok back into the ring, and secured the three count, becoming the 2012 American Joshi Queen of Queens. Havok crawled to the back, getting the final “please come back” chant of the night, as Athena celebrated in the ring with her trophy.
