Lightweight competitor John Alessio has been released from the UFC following a 0-2 performance in the promotion, his third run overall. Alessio got his third UFC release following losses to both Mark Bocek (UFC 145) and Shane Roller (UFC 148). Outside of the UFC, Alessio holds victories over Luigi Fioravanti, War Machine, Gideon Ray, Pete Spratt, Ryan Healy, Sean Pierson, Chris Clements and many others. Although no post-UFC fights have been announced as of this writing, appearances in either Strikeforce or Bellator cannot be ruled out.
