WRESTLETALK TV DEBUTS TO GREAT RATINGS

By Mike Johnson on 9/5/2012 3:52 PM

Wrestle Talk TV gets huge UK rating for first episode

The network television premier of Wrestle Talk TV drew a huge rating, which was around double the figure of normal programming in that same time slot on channel Challenge. The figure, which was only 35,000 people less than WWE’s RAW received this past week, is considered a massive success for the fledgling show which started out on Youtube. On top of this Challenge, the UK channel that airs WTTV and TNA, had its highest website traffic for the whole year on the night of the shows debut, which was almost ten times what it received in the previous 12 months.

Episode one, which featured a no holds barred interview with wrestling legend Chris Jericho during his suspension after a well publicised incident at a WWE tour show in Brazil, set Twitter a buzz and generated much press on wrestling sites worldwide due to some very controversial comments from Jericho on WWE’s current direction. It also featured content from the Wrestle Talk TV interview with Hulk Hogan, which has had around 170,000 Youtube views worldwide so far.

Executive Producer and former British Heavyweight Champion Alex Shane said “It is a major triumph for those involved with the show. Wrestle talk TV is made for wrestling fans by wrestling fans. We all believed that if we gave those fans a show that treated them with intelligence and spoke about wrestling with the passion and openness that made the internet show so popular, the mainstream would enjoy it as much as we do. The rating is a clear indication that they did and we are now more motivated than ever to make the show go from strength to strength.” Shane, who addressed fans and promoters worldwide with a controversial Youtube video just moments after the premier was over, continued “This allows us to really begin promoting all wrestling companies worldwide on a tremendous platform and gives smaller promotions in both the UK and overseas a chance to be seen by a national TV audience in one of the world’s biggest wrestling economies. It also allows fans of WWE and TNA to come together on one show. It’s a really ground breaking concept.”

The show, which airs every two weeks directly after Impact Wrestling, is hosted by UK TV and Radio Star Joel Ross alongside The Daily Star newspapers Patrick Lennon. Past guest have included Hulk Hogan, Mick Foley, Fit Finlay and Colt Cabana and episode two airs this Sunday September 9th. The studio guest is former TNA Knock Out Champion Winter, who was part of Wrestle Talk when it was a radio show on Talksport. However if you missed episode one or don’t have access to Challenge, don’t worry because highlights and exclusive unaired “Wrestle Talk TV Extra” footage from each show gets uploaded regularly to the official Wrestle Talk TV Youtube Channel.
