Welcome to the PWInsiderXtra.com live coverage of the Bellator 81 Preliminary Card, live from the Ryan Center in Kingston, Rhode Island.

Fight #1 – Bellator Lightweight Division Fight

Paul Barrow (5-2-0) vs. Matt Bessette (9-4-0)

Referee: Kevin MacDonald

Round One

The round begins with Bessette attacking Barrow with some leg kicks, Barrow then forces Bessette up against the cage wall after catching a kick. The fighters then battle for position along the cage wall, Barrow accidentally nails Bessette low and the fight is halted. The fight resumes with Bessette catching a Barrow kick while landing a few rights, the fighters then exchange a few kicks. Barrow then catches Bessette with a counter right near the cage wall, Bessette then hits Barrow with a few knee strikes. Bessette then nails Barrow with an elbow strike that is followed by a punching combination, Barrow then scores a takedown on Bessette and he egts the closed guard as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Barrow catching Bessette with a kick to the midsection, Barrow then nails Bessette with a plethora of uppercuts. Barrow then scores a takedown on Bessette and he gets head control, Bessette eventually powers his way back to his feet. Bessette then rocks Barrow with a knee strike and a left, Bessette then catches Barrow low and the fight is halted. The fight resumes with Barrow catching Bessette with a counter right, Bessette then takes the chance to hit Barrow with a knee strike. Bessette then drops Barrow with a knee to the midsection, Barrow recovers by grabbing a hold of Bessette and locking up with him. Barrow then goes for a takedown on Bessette and he nearly gets caught in a guillotine choke, Barrow then attacks Bessette with some ground and pound. Bessette tries to lock in a triangle choke as the round ends.

Round Three

The round begins with Bessette barely catching Barrow with a superman punch, the fighters then exchange a few knee strikes on the cage wall. Bessette then tries to attack Barrow with a variety of kicks, Barrow then scores a takedown on Bessette and he gets the open guard. Bessette scrambles to get the fight standing one more time, Bessette then cracks Barrow with a few knee strikes and elbow strikes. Bessette then scores a takedown on Barrow and he gets back control, Barrow breaks free and nearly catches Bessette with a spinning back fists. Bessette then cracks Barrow with a few knee strikes during a takedown attempt, Bessette then attacks Barrow with a variety of kicks as the round ends.

Fight Result: Matt Bessette def. Paul Barrow by unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)

Fight #2 – Bellator Middleweight Division Fight

Sam McCoy (4-0-0) vs. Brennan Ward (4-0-0)

Referee: Todd Anderson

Round One

The round begins with Ward getting on top of McCoy after a failed takedown attempt, Ward then advances to back control on McCoy. Ward then purposely allows the fight to be stood up, McCoy goes for a takedown and Ward stuff it easily. Ward then attacks McCoy with a lot of ground and pound, Ward then allows the fight to be stood up again. Ward then nails McCoy with a right during a takedown attempt and he goes out cold.

Fight Result: Brennan Ward def. Sam McCoy by KO via punch (2:49, R1)

Fight #3 – Bellator Catchweight Division Fight

Matt Uhde (3-1-0) vs. Mike Mucitelli (3-0-0)

Referee: Dan Miragliotta

Round One

The round begins with Uhde charging at Mucitelli while landing some strikes, Uhde then scores a takedown on Mucitelli. Mucitelli then rolls for the arm bar on Uhde and a tap out follows.

Fight Result: Mike Mucitelli def. Matt Uhde by submission via arm bar (0:26, R1)

Fight #4 – Bellator Catchweight Division Fight

Murad Machaev (9-1-0) vs. Lorawnt-T Nelson (6-1-0)

Referee: Kevin MacDonald

Round One

The round begins with Nelson quickly attacking Machaev with leg kicks, Machaev then scores a takedown on Nelson and he gets the half guard. Nelson uses the cage walk to get the fight standing again, Machaev then drags Nelson to the ground again. Machaev then starts to attack Nelson with some ground and pound, Machaev then gets back control on Nelson after a brief struggle. Machaev continues to assault Nelson with some ground and pound, Machaev then attacks Nelson with knee strikes. Machaev briefly applies the rear naked choke on Nelson, Machaev attacks Nelson with a few more strikes as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Nelson throwing a variety of kicks at Machaev, Nelson almost catches Machaev with a standing guillotine choke. Machaev responds by popping Nelson with a wild right, Machaev then scores a takedown on Nelson and he gets the half guard. Machaev then transitions to the side control position on Nelson, Machaev then catches Nelson in the crucifix position. Machaev lands a few strikes on Machaev before moving to back control, Machaev then starts attacking Nelson with some ground and pound. Nelson tries to stand back up before Machaev drags him back to the ground, Machaev lands a series of strikes on Nelson as the round ends.

Round Three

The round begins with Machaev nailing Nelson with a punching combination, Nelson then hits Machaev with a knee strike. Machaev then scores a takedown on Nelson and he gets back control, Machaev then attacks Nelson with a variety of strikes. Nelson barely gets back up before Machaev puts him back on the ground, Machaev returns to his ground and pound attack on Nelson. Machaev then locks Nelson in the crucifix position while landing more strikes, Machaev advances to full mount and then back control on Nelson as the round ends.

Fight Result: Murad Machaev def. Lorawnt-T Nelson by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Fight #5 – Bellator Middleweight Division Fight

Dan Cramer (8-3-0) vs. Joe Lamoureux (3-1-0)

Referee: Todd Anderson

Round One

The round begins with Lamoureux instantly putting Cramer up against the cage wall, Cramer then assaults Lamoureux with knee strikes. Lamoureux works for a takedown on Cramer while eating some elbow strikes, Cramer then scores a takedown on Lamoureux. Lamoureux tries to get back up and he eats a lot of strikes from Cramer, Cramer then hits Lamoureux with a few knee strikes. Cramer then nails Lamoureux with three rights in a row and the referee jumps in.

Fight Result: Dan Cramer def. Joe Lamoureux by TKO via strikes (3:26, R1)

Fight #6 – Bellator Lightweight Division Fight

Andrew Calandrelli (5-3-0) vs. Eric Brown (3-3-0)

Referee: Dan Miragliotta

Round One

The round begins with Brown keeping Calandrelli at bay by throwing jabs, Brown then pops Calandrelli with a short left. Calandrelli then starts to attack Brown with some leg kicks, Brown then catches Calandrelli with a counter left. Calandrelli then scores a takedown on Brown and he gets the half guard, Calandrelli tries to lock in an arm triangle choke on Brown and does not get the right position. Calandrelli then attempts a North/South choke on Brown as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Brown charging at Calandrelli while throwing some strikes, Calandrelli then scores a takedown on Brown and he gets the half guard. Calandrelli then starts attacking Brown with some short range strikes, Calandrelli then transitions to full mount on Brown. Calandrelli then starts attacking Brown with a lot of ground and pound, Calandrelli then advances to the back control position on Brown. Calandrelli locks in an arm bar on Brown and a tap out follows.
