Fight #8 - Bellator Featherweight Division Fight

Pat Curran (17-4-0) (Champion) vs. Patricio Freire (17-1-0)

Referee: Jason Herzog

Round One

The round begins with Freire attacking Curran with a punching combination, Freire then starts attacking Curran with leg kicks. Curran swings at Freire with a wild looping right, both fighters then exchange a series of kicks to the legs. Curran then pops Freire with a quick right to the jaw, Curran follows that up with a three punch combination. Curran then catches an incoming Freire with a counter left to the midsection, Curran barely connects with a front kick on Freire. Freire then catches Curran with a right to the rib cage as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with both fighters testing their range with some jabs, Curran then catches Freire with a straight left. Curran then catches Freire with a few blows to the body, Freire responds by nailing Curran with a multi-punch combo to the belly region. Freire then changes his attack by hitting Curran with leg kicks, Curran responds by nailing Freire with a left. Freire continues to catch Curran with punching/kicking combinations, Curran starts working the jab on Freire as the round ends.

Round Three

The round begins with Freire nailing Curran with a kick to the midsection, Freire continues to back Curran up with punching combinations. Curran then lands a right to the midsection of Freire, Curran starts to attack Freire with combinations of his own. Freire then rocks Curran with a partially blocked head kick, Freire then attacks Curran with a flying knee strike. Curran responds by landing a left to the midsection of Freire, Freire responds by landing a left of his own. The fighters then start to swing wildly at each other, both fighters attempt head kicks as the round ends.

Round Four

The round begins with Curran nailing Freire with leg kicks, Freire recovers to nail Curran with a striking combination. Freire continues to charge at Curran while throwing punches, Curran then rocks Freire with a four punch combination. Curran follows that up by hitting Freire with two punches to the midsection, Curran continues to work over the rib cage of Freire. Freire tries to fool Curran by going for a spinning back kick, Curran then nails Freire with a pair of lefts to the face. Freire tries to slow Curran down by attempting a pair of kicks, Curran lands another two punch combo on Freire as the round ends.

Round Five

The round begins with Curran catching an incoming Freire with a short left, Curran then pops Freire with an upper cut. Both fighters then nearly score the takedown on the other, Curran then catches Freire with a knee strike and some more punches. Freire recovers to nail Curran with a counter punching combination, Curran returns to working the jab on Freire. Curran keeps the advantage by nailing Freire with a counter right, Curran keeps mounting the pressure by hitting Freire with another right. Curran then clobbers Freire with a multiple punch combination, Freire responds by landing a combo of his own. Freire then charges at Curran while landing a bunch of lefts, Curran catches Freire with a left as the round ends.

Fight Result: Pat Curran def. Patricio Freire by split decision (48-47, 47-48, 47-48) to retain the Bellator Featherweight Title

Fight #9 – Bellator Light Heavyweight Tournament Opening Round Fight

Renato Sobral (37-9-0) vs. Mikhail Zayats (19-6-0)

Referee: John McCarthy

Round One

The round begins with Sobral nailing Zayats with a kick to the midsection, Zayats responds by hitting Sobral with a knee strike. Sobral grabs a hold of Zayats while eating plenty of knee strikes, the referee separates the fighters after inactivity. Sobral eats a right from Zayats while landing some leg kicks, Sobral then clobbers Zayats with a wild right to the jaw. The fighters lock up and exchange knee strikes while on the cage wall, the referee separates the fighters again after inactivity. Zayats then rocks Sobral with a spinning back fist and he goes down, Zayats pounces on Sobral and the referee jumps in.

Fight Result: Mikhail Zayats def. Renato Sobral by TKO via strikes (4:49, R1)

Fight #10 - Bellator Lightweight Title Fight

Michael Chandler (10-0-0) (Champion) vs. Rick Hawn (17-1-0)

Referee: John McCarthy

Round One

The round begins with Chandler attacking Hawn with some leg kicks, both fighters nearly nail each other with simultaneous upper cuts. Chandler then scores a takedown on Hawn and he gets the open guard, Chandler tries to attack Hawn with some ground and pound. Hawn tries to attack Chandler with some elbows from his back, Chandler advances to the half guard on Hawn. Hawn tries to stand up and Chandler attacks him with knee strikes, Hawn breaks free and he hits Chandler with a two punch combination as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Hawn catching Chandler with a left hook, Chandler then scores a takedown on Hawn and he gets the open guard. Chandler then starts to attack Hawn with a lot of elbow strikes, Chandler then gets back control on Hawn as the scramble began. Hawn finds a way to get back up before Chandler took him down again, Chandler then gets back control again on Hawn. Chandler locks in a rear naked choke on Hawn and the tap out follows.

Fight Result: Michael Chandler def. Rick Hawn by submission via rear naked choke (3:07, R2) to retain the Bellator Lightweight Title

Main Event - Bellator Light Heavyweight Tournament Opening Round Fight

Jacob Noe (10-1-0) vs. Seth Petruzelli (14-6-0)

Referee: Jason Herzog

Round One

The round begins with Petruzelli hitting Noe with a counter punch, Petruzelli then forces Noe up against the cage wall. Petruzelli then pops Noe with a straight right to the face, Petruzelli then starts attacking Noe with leg kicks. Noe gets back control on Petruzelli after a failed takedown attempt, Noe then attacks Petruzelli with ground and pound until the referee jumps in.

Fight Result: Jacob Noe def. Seth Petruzelli by TKO via strikes (2:51, R1)
