MATT HUGHES ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

Multi-time UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes has officially retired from MMA and has accepted an executive position within the promotion. Hughes currently holds the record for competing in the most title fights in the UFC and title defenses. Throughout his fifteen year MMA career, Hughes fought the likes of Dennis Hallman, Dave Menne, Akihiro Gono, Joe Doerkson, Carlos Newton, Hayato Sakurai, Sean Sherk, Frank Trigg, BJ Penn, Georges St. Pierre, Joe Riggs, Royce Gracie, Matt Serra, Thiago Alves, Renzo Gracie and Josh Koscheck. Hughes finishes his career on a two fight losing streak, with his last fight being a defeat to Josh Koscheck at UFC 135, his MMA record was 45-9-0.
