Fight #7 - Bellator Lightweight Tournament Opening Round Fight

Thiago Michel (11-3-0) vs. Alexander Sarnavskiy (21-1-0)

Round One

The round begins with Sarnavskiy nailing Michel with a kick to the rib cage, Sarnavskiy then rocks Michel with a wild right. Sarnavskiy takes a breather before nailing Michel with another right, Sarnavskiy then catches Michel with a punching combination. Sarnavskiy starts to attack the midsection of Michel with some punches and kicks, Sarnavskiy then nails Michel with a counter left to the jaw. Sarnavskiy then attacks Michel with a flying knee strike, Michel lands a kick to the belly region of Sarnavskiy. Sarnavskiy responds by nailing Michel with a variety of kicks, Michel tries to slow Sarnavskiy down by hitting him with leg kicks. Sarnavskiy scores a takedown on Michel after catching a kick attempt, Michel finds a way to stand up and then get taken down again as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with both fighters swinging wildly at each other, Michel then catches Sarnavskiy with a kick to the midsection. Sarnavskiy then takes the opportunity to try and drag Michel to the ground, Sarnavskiy then forces Michel up against the cage wall. Sarnavskiy eventually gains the takedown on Michel and he gets the open guard, Sarnavskiy then transitions to back control on Michel. Sarnavskiy locks in the rear naked choke and Michel has to tap out.

Fight #8 - Bellator Lightweight Tournament Opening Round Fight

Saas Awad (12-4-0) vs. Guillaume DeLorenzi (10-1-0)

Round One

The round begins with DeLorenzi attacking Awad with some leg kicks, Awad returns the favor by attacking DeLorenzi with a variety of kicks. Awad then rocks DeLorenzi with a plethora of strikes, Awad pounces on a rocked DeLorenzi until the referee jumps in.

Fight #9 - Bellator Lightweight Tournament Opening Round Fight

Will Brooks (8-0-0) vs. Ricardo Tirloni (15-3-0)

Round One

The round begins with Tirloni immediately pouncing on Brooks with some strikes, both fighters then catch each other with simultaneous kicks. Brooks then pops Tirloni with a short right to the jaw, Tirloni goes for a takedown and he eats a knee strike from Brooks. Tirloni then scores a takedown on Brooks on his second attempt, Brooks uses the cage walk to get the fight standing. Brooks quickly goes for the takedown on Tirloni and succeeds, Brooks starts to attack Tirloni with ground and pound. Tirloni then goes for the triangle choke and Brooks escapes both times, Brooks continues to catch Tirloni with strikes as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Brooks catching Tirloni with a variety of strikes, Brooks then scores a takedown on Tirloni and he gets the open guard. Brooks then goes back to his ground and pound attack on Tirloni, Brooks eventually allows the fight to be stood back up. Brooks then goes for a takedown on Tirloni and nearly gets caught in a guillotine choke, Brooks resumes his ground and pound attack on Tirloni. Brooks postures up and Tirloni scrambles afterwards to get the fight standing, Tirloni then catches Brooks with a two punch combination. Brooks returns the favor on Tirloni with a pair of rights. Tirloni accidentally nails Brooks and the fight is halted, the fight resumes with Brooks peppering Tirloni with jabs. Tirloni lands a two punch combination on Brooks as the round ends.

Round Three

The round begins with both fighters exchanging some leg kicks, Brooks returns to effectively nailing Tirloni with some jabs. Brooks then pops Tirloni with a two punch combination, Brooks then scores a takedown on Tirloni and he gets the half guard. Brooks follows that up by nailing Tirloni with some strikes, Tirloni then blocks Brooks from advancing to the full mount. Brooks quickly returns to nailing Tirloni with some short range strikes, Brooks eventually allows Tirloni to stand up. Brooks and Tirloni grapple while exchanging some knee strikes, Brooks then scores one more takedown on Tirloni. Tirloni finds a way to lock in a rear naked choke on Brooks, Brooks escapes as the round ends.

Fight Result: Will Brooks def. Ricardo Tirloni by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Main Event - Bellator Lightweight Tournament Opening Round Fight

Lloyd Woodard (12-2-0) vs. David Rickels (11-1-0)

Referee: Dan Miragliotta

Round One

The round begins with Woodard quickly nailing Rickels with leg kicks, Rickels then drops Woodard for a moment with a punch. Woodard instantly gets back up and gets standing back control on Rickels, Woodard eventually scores a takedown on Rickels. Woodard transitions to back control on Rickels, Woodard then starts to attack Rickels with some ground and pound. Rickels eventually forces Woodard into the open guard after escaping a submission attempt, Rickels attempts a triangle choke and Woodard power bombs him to escape. Woodard then starts to attack Rickels with some ground and pound again, both fighters battle for position after a scramble. Each fighter rolls for a leg submission and Rickels winds up on top, Rickels attacks Woodard with some strikes as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Rickels nailing Woodard with a variety of strikes, Rickels follows that up by nailing Woodard with a counter left. Rickels follows that up by nailing Woodard with a two punch combination, the fighters grapple and Rickels nails Woodard with knee strikes. Rickels follows that up by assaulting the midsection of Woodard with punches, Rickels slips during a strike and Woodard dives on top of him. Rickels rolls for an arm bar on Woodard and Woodard escapes, Woodard tries to stack Rickels with some ground and pound. Rickels eventually finds his opening to get the fight standing again, Rickels follows that up by hitting Woodard with knee strikes. Rickels then cracks Woodard with a four punch combination, Woodard then scores a takedown on Rickels and gets the butterfly guard. Rickels catches Woodard with an up kick as the round ends.

Round Three

The round begins with Rickels attacking Woodard with leg kicks, Rickels then pops Woodard with a pair of lefts. Woodard tries to slow Rickels down by hitting him with leg kicks, Rickels then rocks Woodard with a two punch combination. Rickels follows that up by hitting Woodard with a kick to the body, Woodard dives at Rickels and eats two punches for his efforts. Rockels then clobbers Woodard with a pair of push kicks and a right, Rickels keeps piling on Woodard with some more lefts. Rickels then starts rocking Woodard badly with several striking combinations, Rickels connects with a flurry of strikes on Woodard. Woodard lands the takedown on Rickels and nearly gets caught in a guillotine choke as the round ends.

Fight Result: David Rickels def. Lloyd Woodard by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
