Fight #8 - Bellator Lightweight Tournament Semi-Final Fight

Jason Fischer (6-1-0) vs. David Rickels (12-1-0)

Referee: Jason Herzog

Round One

The round begins with Fischer quickly attacking Rickels with a head kick, Rickels starts hitting Fischer with leg kicks before eating a knee strike. Rickels then hits Fischer with a right before blocking a jump knee attempt, Rickels then rocks Fischer with a counter right. Fischer recovers to pop Rickels with a two punch combination, Rickels cracks Fischer with a knee to the midsection. Fischer attempts a head kick on Rickels before hitting him with two punches, Rickels then catches Fischer with an uppercut. Rickels follows that up with a punching combination on Fischer, Rickels continues to attack Fischer with uppercuts. Fischer grabs a hold of Rickels as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Rickels nailing Fischer with a push kick, Rickels then clobbers Fischer with a pair of uppercuts. Rickels waits a little while before landing a knee strike on Fischer, Rickels then scores a takedown on Fischer and gets the full guard. Fischer attempts to roll for the arm bar on Rickels, Rickels eventually transitions to the half guard on Fischer. Fischer uses a sweep to get himself of top of Rickels, Fischer starts to attack Rickels with some ground and pound. Rickels eventually powers his way to his feet and separates from Fischer, Rickels then hits Fischer with a kick to the midsection. Rickels then connects with a few strikes on Fischer, Fischer scores a takedown on Rickels as the round ends.

Round Three

The round begins with both fighters attacking the other with leg kicks, Rickels then catches Fischer with a punching combination. Fischer finds a way to drag Rickels to his knees, Rickels makes him pay by slaughtering him with rights. Rickels then forces himself on top of Fischer with landing ground and pound, Rickels attempts a kimura on Fischer and it fails. Rickels continues to attack Fischer with some short range strikes, Rickels transitions to full mount on Fischer. Rickels resumes his ground and pound attack on Fischer, Rickels then advances to back control on Fischer. Rickels nearly catches Fischer in the rear naked choke, Rickels goes for the arm bar on Fischer as the round ends.

Fight Result: David Rickels def. Jason Fischer by unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)

Fight #9 - Bellator Lightweight Tournament Semi-Final Fight

Saad Awad (13-4-0) vs. Will Brooks (9-0-0)

Referee: Jason Herzog

Round One

The round begins with Brooks attacking Awad with leg kicks, Awad then rocks Brooks with a plethora of wild strikes. Awad eventually drops Brooks twice with a bunch of rights, Awad then finishes off Brooks with ground and pound until the referee jumps in.

Fight Result: Saad Awad def. Will Brooks by TKO via strikes (0:43, R1)

Main Event - Bellator Light Heavyweight Title Fight

Christian M’Pumbu (18-4-1) (Champion) vs. Attila Vegh (28-4-2)

Referee: Jason Herzog

Round One

The round begins with M’Pumbu attacking Vegh with leg kicks, Vegh then charges at M’Pumbu and lands a right. Vegh then drops M’Pumbu with a straight right, M’Pumbu scrambles and takes down Vegh as he charged at him. M’Pumbu transitions to side control on Vegh, Vegh scrambles to get the fight back to the standing position. M’Pumbu holds onto the head of Vegh as he stood up to attack him with knee strikes, Vegh charges at M’Pumbu while throwing strikes. M’Pumbu responds by cracking Vegh with a short right, Vegh then lands a takedown on M’Pumbu and he gets the half guard as the round ends.

Round Two

The round begins with Vegh chasing M’Pumbu around the cage while eating jabs, M’Pumbu forces Vegh up against the cage wall after avoiding strikes. Vegh charges at M’Pumbu again while landing a mixture of kicks and punches, Vegh then winds up on top of M’Pumbu after blocking a takedown. Vegh starts to attack M’Pumbu with some ground and pound, Vegh rolls for a knee bar on M’Pumbu and M’Pumbu easily escapes and gets top position. M’Pumbu then advances to the full mount on Vegh, M’Pumbu then transitions to back control on Vegh as the round ends.

Round Three

The round begins with M’Pumbu attacking Vegh with a plethora of jabs, Vegh then drops M’Pumbu with a left uppercut. Vegh then finds himself on top of M’Pumbu after dropping him, M’Pumbu tries to roll for submissions from his back. Vegh attacks M’Pumbu with ground and pound before moving to the full mount, M’Pumbu quickly forces Vegh back into the half guard. Vegh starts to attack M’Pumbu with some elbow strikes, Vegh continues attacking M’Pumbu with ground and pound as the round ends.

Round Four

The round begins with M’Pumbu attacking Vegh with a jump kick, Vegh then scores the takedown on M’Pumbu and he gets the open guard. M’Pumbu eventually powers his way to his feet with Vegh striking at him, M’Pumbu then forces Vegh up against the cage wall. Vegh then rocks M’Pumbu with a right to the face and it if followed with a left, Vegh then cracks M’Pumbu with a knee strike. M’Pumbu then forces Vegh up against the cage wall while eating short range strikes, the referee separates the fighters after inactivity and M’Pumbu hits Vegh with a knee strike as the round ends.

Round Five

The round begins with M’Pumbu keeping Vegh at bay by throwing some jabs, the fighters grapple and Vegh attacks M’Pumbu with knee strikes. M’Pumbu then starts to attack Vegh with some leg kicks, M’Pumbu then cracks Vegh with a punching combination. Vegh responds by launching some combos at M’Pumbu, Vegh then cracks M’Pumbu with a knee strike before forcing him up against the cage wall. The referee separates the fighters after inactivity and Vegh dances around the cage as the round ends.

Fight Result: Attila Vegh def. Christian M’Pumbu by unanimous decision (48-47, 49-46, 50-45) to win the title
